Can't a new bond be forged with a new puppy? The dog will still die in about four to five years

The fact that she doesn't have $3000 indicates that it's a waste to be spent on a dog. In her country people still would value such an amount of money, for example a cold hungry hobo would.

Some animal bonds just aren't sensible.

Actually not a big deal in the West. They can use all their savings to treat pet. Even to put down a pet can be costly. I only wonder she has no pet insurance for the dog. That covers most conditions normally.

Awww...my heart goes out to her.
Folks that don't have a pet that they truly care about, won't understand this.
They become family..
She more than likely, didn't have pet insurance..is desperate and has done all that she can do to help heal her dog.
It would be inhumane and cruel for her to not attempt to do everything she can to get that dog healed.
My family dog broke his leg (at less than 1 yr old and had to wear a tiny cast for several weeks), got testicular cancer (around 6-7 years of age) and had surgery to remove one of his testicles.
He developed cataracts in his eyes at around 13 years of age, but we didn't get him surgery for those.
It was when my dog made 15 yrs and went into the animal hospital that my dad said, "No", to letting them put him on dialysis..
He later passed of kidney failure. The risks of harming him was greater than the perceived benefit at his age and size.
So why not get a dog the help it needs (if able) while it still is fairly young and can have a good quality of life?
You do these thimgs cause you love the pet.
She's not only gonna raise all of that money, but I dare say that it will surpass the needed amount.
