What is the business of government in business. Countries with better records of accountability have handed over their state run airlines tothe private sector from BA to KLM to Lufthansa. Even egalitarian France is dumping Air France bit by bit on the private sector.

Just create a conducive environment and the airline industry will thrive wirhout government money. Transportation is directly related to the state of a country's economy. If the economy expands air travel will prosper naturally. This government has proven time and again it will rather throw scare resources away just like the previous one all in a bid to build castles in the air.

Reasonable folks know the project is dead on arrival and will only dig a massive hole in our public finances before they conceded this ill advised journey.

Obys choice if word is too odd and seemly unpatriotic. But people that have followed oby will know that she can never pray for failure of a project the way a lot of people see it. I think she should have posited her position with strong economical basis and reason why such adventure could be a national economical misadventure...without using highly volatile words that could position her as an unpatriotic and antiprogress. Moreover, her basis for her position cannot be far from failed market economy, money economy that some of her colleagues have been pushing for a while now. Meanwhile, I don't see why Nigeria cannot have a national carrier if Rwanda, Ghana, Kenya, and Ethiopia can operate one...

Majority of Nigerians on social media are not thinkers. They are mentally lame and simple! You have to explain in very elementary ways what you intend to say on social media, otherwise these bunch will attack you due to ignorance.

Madam Oby said what she said within the context of certain issues that must be addressed, first, within the airline industry before this new initiative will work. Her prayer was a connotation meant to incite debate and draw the indulgence of sane, justice-minded, and well-meaning Nigerians.

As an issue, thousands of Nigerians who worked for the defunct Nigerian Airways have not been paid many months of salary owed them before the airline closed. Other benefits upon which their salaries were deducted on a monthly basis have also been stolen from these employees by government workers and politicians.

Consequently, most of them have died due to the economic hardship this have caused them. Others are even on sick and dying bed, because government refuses to pay them moneys that were stolen from them.

This issue and many others is why Madam Oby prayed that prayer, and the point she was really trying to make was that "God should not allow the takeoff of this new airline without the settling of those owed by the government, among a hosts of other issues." Her prayer was not denotative!

But ofcourse, a largely illiterate pool of jobless social media hacks, who're paid by government officials to attack people who dare question the blatant maladministration and rape of the country, are always there, lurking, to counter whatever you say and willfully refusing to comprehend the context of your message.

Sadly, this is the extent to which the once "giant of Africa" has fallen!
