Relevance Of Msc At Noun by Ahijo1990(m): 10:03am On Jul 25, 2018
good day guys.

I'm in a pickle and need some advice. I would've opened this thread in the Education section but I reckon I'd get better advice here.

I want to apply for an msc. I'm currently working in Awka. My two choices are UNIZIK and NOUN. My job involves relocation at least once every two years so I'm scared if I'd finish the program at UNIZIK in 2 years (I heard they tend to take time) so NOUN (based on her flexibility) seems more likely.

My major concern is the acceptability of her degree in the labor market and academic circle too.

Will an Msc from NOUN be accepted in the labor market as much as mscs from other federal universities? Can I do a PhD in a federal university with an msc from NOUN? and if you're a postgraduate student of noun or have the info, can you assist me with info concerning the actual duration of their postgraduate program?

Thanks a lot guys.

OK, thank you Chief.

I love conventional university too but work could be too demanding plus the relocation possibility. I don't want to get stuck halfway.

Pls have you finished your PG at NOUN? How long did it take you?

go for NOUN please. it saves you a lot of time and headache while not compromising standard. My honest thought, though.

I did my M.Sc in NOUN. I registered 2015 and finished 2017. With good grade, you will be accepted for a PhD programme in any University, trust me I have made that enquiry and UNN said its acceptable.

I have been gunning for a lecturing job, none has been successful yet but no one has complained about where I got my M.Sc from, so I am being hopeful that it will click someday.

But in other public agencies, its in the same level with every M.Sc, as I have applied to many places with mine and still being hopeful...

However, because of this type of uncertainty, I intend going to a conventional University for my Ph.D. In all, the choice is yours...

I hope I have tried to answer you questions...

My Dear, NOUN will ever remain NOUN. If you intend to do an academic MSc with the view of doing your PhD, please, go to either a FED or State UNI. In as much as it depends on the course you intend doing your programmes (M.Sc & PhD), a FED /State UNI are still preferable.
I don't want to elucidate more but in future, your academic references would hunt you if you prefer NOUN.

I think you're right, Chief.

I just asked a former classmate who's a Lecturer in UNN currently, he said NOUN is OK and accepted. I also called someone in my office HR and she said all certificates from any accredited institution in Nigeria is accepted.

I will settle for NOUN. they are more flexible for my extremely tight work schedule.
