Technically a Governor doesn't have to resign because he defected from his party to another. He was elected by the people of the state, not his party members alone.
The votes belong to the party. Read the case of Omeha v Ameachi

They were holding positions before crossing to APC in 2014/15 from PDP and nobody called for their resignation but when they are now going back to PDP, they are telling them to resign their positions. What an irony.

People voted for APC not PDP. So defecting is wrong based on how one is elected, be it to PDP or APC.
In the ballot what we saw was PDP, APGA, APC etc etc not Tambuwal, El Rufai, Wike. If we as ordinary citizens don't check this defections it will get messier by the day.
Imagine few weeks after may 29 swearing in ceremony and Wike moves to APGA or after a hard fought victory by PDP party faithfuls and the winner jumps to another party next day.
I think the best way is, if you want to jump ship - resign.
What it is turning out to be is that campaigning for APC or PDP is a total waste of time, as any of them will jump ship at any giving time without checks.

Mr Coordinator concerned people of Sokoto State, Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi, my question is, what can you say about Gov. Tambuwal's defection as the Speaker House of Rep in Dec. 2014, to APC?

Are you a Nigerian? On which Ballot did you find Candidates name?

You guys just be dishonest with yourself. After the primary election, cabdidates are given the party flag which mean representing of thr platform they held the flag. The party flag is given to candidate by the Party leader. And the only symbol of this is that this particular candidate is representing a party.

On the Ballot, the only thing you are going to find is Party name and logo. It does not have candidate name on it. I wonder if you have ever voted in any election in Nigeria.

The electorate voted for the party and not any candidate. If you can advocate for the resignation of Deputies for decamping, the same logic should apply for a Governor who got the people mandate by belonging to a platform.
the last time I checked, gov mimiko the immediate past governor of ondo state decamp from LP to PDP and LP doesn't ask him to resign so why all this Drama now...... All I see is that APC are hypocrite

The people you called 'dunce' actually voted for him. They did this after he joined a platform they trusted. So he won gubernatorial election with support from this platform and thinks he has to leave because he has ambition to become President. What has really changed that made him return to another platform? Shouldn't the people that voted him ask questions? The voters thumbprinted APC on the ballot paper, not Tambulwa right? So if he doesn't trust the party again, he should drop their mandate. It is as simple as that.

Deputy Governor in many states have resigned before Joining another party contrary to what their principal belongs to. We saw it play out in Kano State recently. Now explain why a State Governor who was trusted with a mandate because he belong ti a party would not resign before joining another party. As the case maybe, my argument is that electorates voted for party not candidates.
APC and hypocrisy eeeh! When Amaechi joined APC in 2014 or so, you lot hailed him. Nobody in your party remembered that the mandate belonged to PDP. All you were after was to remove GEJ. Now that Karma has played its cards big time, you remembered mandate. Sorry sir!

Smell the truth. The North desires to do 3 terms to compensate for 14 years of Southern rule (Obj and GEJ). Buhari's second term will shortchange them in this regard. So, simply put, Buhari is not coming back in 2019. The North is shopping for a new president and the likes of Tambulwa, Kwankwaso, Saraki, Makarfi and Atiku already know this. All the power brokers already know this. Even Buhari knows this ... it is only you guys ... his minions, who are deluded that still believe he will finish his second term and hand over to Osinbajo. Sorry, the game and narratives have since changed.

Don’t waste my time. To answer your question, the name of the candidate, the party name and this logo, but that doesn’t change the fact that the mandate belongs to him, please stop arguing blindly.
Mandate given to him by a group of people in a particular party. Lol.

... but you were hailing nPDP in 2014. Smell the coffee. If the rule must change, let it be after 2019 elections. Mind you 3 more governors are on their way. All they are doing is to have their legislators on their side and vroom, they will decamp. I love Wike and Secondus, they are not noise makers like the factional APC chairman.

Please count me out of PDP, APC etc etc politics. I am just airing my view as what I think should be right - I don't care who goes where.
What is the guarantee that after APC faithfuls have worked hard to vote in Fayemi in Ekiti that he wont jump to PDP tomorrow?
The law of jumping ship favors politicians/rich and not the common man who wastes his/her energy voting for them.

The people voted and trusted Him to deliver on his mandate through the APC platform. Are you saying he cannot deliver his mandate through the platform of the other party? Are we voting party or people? Trust me, if he was a terrible person, nobody would vote him APC or not.

Poster can have any name printed on it. It is not INEC material and not guided by law. So much soms even put their unofficial name like Nicknames. It doesn't have any meaning.

INEC declare results by mentioning name of the candidate and the party they belong to. We've had cases of where candidates have almost same name. The returning officer will name and THE NAME OF THE PARTY the candidate belong to. This is why we have Party Agents on board and not candidate agent to monitor the process.

And for your dishonesty, ballot paper has the name and logo of the Party. It does not include the name of the candidate. This inevitably means the mandate belongs to the party and not the candidate.

You were calling some people hypocrites but your own hypocrisy is rare to find. Only a hypocrite will support the resignation of deputies but would want the governor to retain his office after defection.
Bros, stop fighting a lost battle. Certificate of return is issued to a winner, not winning party chairman to subsequently hand over to their candidate. As for deputy governor of Kano, he resigned to avoid impeachment. Nobody called for his resignation. Get the facts right.
But you were around in 2014 ... what was your take when some governors left PDP to APC? I am not sure you called for their resignation.

On final note ... this thing pain una sha. Hope Akpabio can come with anything other than himself and his wife to APC grin

Which of my post suggested that am in support of political prostitute, I don’t support people without ideology. All am saying is that you can’t ask a sitting governor to resign, he has to he mandate, they should explore legal means and stop making noise. Mind you, there will be more decamping from PDP to APC and Vice versa
my problem with this ppl that talk about political prostitute is simply that when the decamping is from PDP to APC the seem to forget the term...lol infact they come and tell us how it is the right thing to do.... useless ppl
