It looks very good already but u want it scanned and get a new Toks engine that would make me enjoy the car till I can afford a new one.

I'm bringing it to Lagos, I don't wanna be scammed or given bad products, who can help me out, I was advised not to go to Ladipo or Itire on my own, I need a VW specialist who can handle my car and bring it back to life.

The stories surrounding this Mark IV is that it is problematic (mostly electrical issues) and should be avoided.


I commend your maintenance culture.


But tell me, what are the usual problems you have encountered with your Mark IV during these 6 years?

Radautoworks may be the solution you seek,

they will not replace the engine,

they will rebuild the engine,

which makes it as good as new,

instead of an unknown engine with unverifiable pedigree and nothing to hang unto except the words of the engine seller ( words that they can readily go against, and have been known to go against)

and instead of a warranty that rarely lasts as long as 30 days

you would get a much longer warranty and peace of mind from an as good as new engine given that you will be holding onto this car for some time

I give this advice because of your financial outlay so far which goes against the use and dump philosophy would never allow you spend so much on a car when you could fling it and add some more money to get another - the predominant thought pattern in the Nigerian automotive space

I love the car, when I even got it, I didn't know how to drive then, I learnt driving with it and mastered it soon enough.

Noo problem whatsoever, no electrical issues, it's very reliable too, but recently, it jerks, I think it now consumes more fuel, using AC with it makes it very weak to ascend hills most times, it would run well for some minutes and drag for few seconds then try to run well again.

I just feel the engine is old already, maybe a good Toks will make me a happy man again.

says sleeving a vw engine is a waste of time, he bought a bigger engine variant 1.8L reason he also changed gear. your 1.4L engine may be scarce I know only Skoda has that engine too.

you know that car has various engine, your gear may not be appropriate for the higher engine picked. though I am not too sure

That is caused by your idle air control valve most likely not your engine

Yeah, factory fitted but the compressor that came with the car got spoilt at some point, so I replaced it which also got knocked last week, I also replaced Drier, replaced Evaporator then.

yeah me too, i want to change my engine to 2.0, it came with 1.6,they have two strong engine which is 2.0 and 1.6,don't go for 1.8 engine, though i may be wrong sha.

The manufacturer didn't put an ac in a car that couldn't handle it. Something else is wrong. The AC was made to go in that car as-is.
