SARAKI in 2014!!

Facts are indeed sacred!!!

APC VP Candidacy;
Saraki salutes Tinubu's sacrifice
December 18, 2014
Former Kwara State Governor, Senator Bukola Saraki has commended the sacrifice and contribution of former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to the development of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and democracy in Nigeria.
Saraki also welcomed the emergence of Prof. Yemi Osinbajo as the running mate of the presidential candidate of APC, General Muhammadu Buhari.
Saraki, in a statement said: “The emergence of Professor Yemi Osinbajo – a Professor of law; a well-ranked academic; a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN); and a committed pastor of unquestionable integrity from South-West Nigeria further attests to the commitment of the All Progressives Congress to fairness and equality.
“Most importantly, I would like to commend the National Leader of our party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the sacrifice and contribution to the development of APC and democracy in Nigeria. No doubt, from his precedents as a forward-thinking Governor of Lagos State, and his profile as one of the foremost democrats in Nigeria, the people of the South-West and a large block of voters wanted Asiwaju as running mate to General Buhari.
“Historically, the South-West is known not to pay attention to religion but competence when picking candidates for positions, but due to Tinubu’s belief in the Nigerian project, which he sees as bigger than any individual interest, he made it clear that we cannot ignore the current happenings around the country that require that as a party, we must take extra caution and be sensitive to every ethnicity and religion by picking a Christian candidate.
“Despite what has been reported on the pages of some newspapers, some of us privy to the happenings behind closed doors attest to the leadership role of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which led to the emergence of Osinbajo, an erudite scholar and a dogged advocate of the people.
“In the same spirit, I must also commend other leaders of the APC who have continuously made sacrifices in the interest of the party and Nigeria at large. Leaders like Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Owelle Rochas Okorocha who on Thursday December 11, 2014 after the presidential primaries made similar sacrifices by pledging their support to General Buhari, contrary to speculations by naysayers that the APC would implode either after the primary or in the course of the nomination of its vice-presidential candidate. APC has, once again, demonstrated that national interests are paramount in the guiding principle of the party, as opposed to personal ambition.
“I use this opportunity to congratulate all party stakeholders, most especially the presidential candidate for the success of the process in the selection of the Vice-Presidential candidate; this process has once again demonstrated to Nigerians the preparedness of APC to run an efficient and transperent government, putting to shame those that have said the party was made up of people with personal ambitions,” he said.

doublewisdom:
El Rufai once called Buhari a blood thirsty illiterate.

The attention of Mallam Nassir El-Rufai has been drawn to statements from General Muhammadu Buhari purporting to be responses to the advice he gave him to retire.

El-Rufai is amazed that General Buhari cannot debate this matter without scurrying to the gutter, making claims that are baseless and unsupported by any facts. Mallam El-Rufai’s tenure as FCT minister was a period of stellar performance in remaking our federal capital. Despite the difficult decisions that had to be taken to restore Abuja, Mallam El-Rufai continues to receive deserved praise and recognition for his achievements in restoring the Abuja master plan, introducing Nigeria’s first computerised land registry and helping thousands of Nigerians achieve their dreams of home ownership in the federal capital. Buhari is perhaps one of a tiny few blinded by their prejudice from recognising the quality of El Rufai’s service.

That same prejudice accounts for the baseless claims of corruption Buhari levels against El Rufai. The fact is that Mallam El-Rufai served Nigeria with integrity and has never been convicted of any corrupt act. He is boldly contesting the false charges which the Yar’Adua government filed against him in court. It is strange that a Buhari who protests when unproven claims of N2.5 billion (about US $3billion in those days!) missing oil funds are levelled against him can gleefully elevate similar claims into facts when it concerns another.

How would Buhari feel if the corruption allegations made against him by Group Captain Usman Jibrin, then a board member of PTF, are today reported as if they were proven facts? So much for “corrupt background” and “shoddy performance”.

Mallam El-Rufai wishes to remind General Buhari that he has remained perpetually unelectable because his record as military head of state, and afterwards, is a warning that many Nigerians have wisely heeded. His insensitivity to Nigeria’s diversity and his parochial focus are already well-known.

In 1984, Buhari allowed 53 suitcases belonging to his ADC’s father to enter Nigeria unchecked at a time the country was exchanging old currency for new. Against all canons of legal decency, he used retroactive laws to execute three young men for drug-peddling after they were convicted by a military tribunal and not regular courts of law. Buhari was so high handed that he gave himself and his officials immunity even from truthful reporting.

That obnoxious Decree 4, against which truth was no defence, was used to jail journalists and attempt to cow the media as a whole. That tyrannical legislation shows the essence of his intolerance. These are facts of recent history.

The story of counter-trade and import licensing, the cornerstone of Buhari’s stone-age economic strategy and those whose interests it served, is a tale for another day.

Mallam El-Rufai respects Generals Buhari and Babangida as an elder statesman. He believes his age, experience and guidance may contribute to the success of any future government. El-Rufai however believes that it is time for a new generation of leaders with new thinking and wholesome democratic attitude to move our nation forward.

The vicious response by the Buhari camp to a simple statement that their almost-70 principal should retire is proof enough that a Buhari, the new Democrat, tolerant of views different from his own, is yet to evolve. And that is sad, for his fledgling party and its leadership. Buhari and his cohorts may wish to reflect that it will take more than attacks on personalities to become electable.

Having seen his version of discipline, Nigerians are not likely to cherish an encore. But they will welcome an engagement with the issues and problems of everyday life that have hobbled the peoples of this land.

Media Adviser to Mallam Nasir El-Rufai

I can't see any difference between this and Saraki s current response . Infact all I see here is a diplomatic expression of how tinubu was forced to relinquish the VP position to Osibanjo. Contrary to what you can understand this story confirms Sarakis current response to tinubu. If you know you know.

By the way, you can hold someone in high esteem before you truly know them, and when you do know them, you lose all respect for them because you can see through their lies. It happens.

SARAKI is a man that respects his elders and was indeed well groomed for politics..

SARAKI is a chess grandmaster. He is a disciple of the 48laws of power and a true Machiavellian.

SARAKI is a presidential material. He would do well as President...

There is a big deal because it exposes a deep character flaw on his part. He is only trying to appeal to sentiments now by doubletalking. Only a dishonest person will deny that.

This was when the bed of strange bed fellows was still freshly made and everyone's shït seemed like fresh, sweet scenting perfume even on that bed. Everyone's pretence level was on point. Now that the bed is dirty and awash with bugs, they've run out of those to hide behind and use to make themselves seem clean and saintly. They have called Jonathan, PDP, God, Rats and others too numerous to mention. Now they have turned on themselves.

Those with abridged and selective reasoning have forgotten that at the time Saraki and crew were hailed for their 'selfless sacrifice' in dumping the 'corrupt' PDP to join the 'progressives'. Now Saraki has decamped back to PDP it is no longer sacrifice, it's now greed. At least he minded his business o! But APC class prefects still keep writing his name in their list of noise makers even when he's no longer in their class. Still,he never called Tinubu o! Now Tinubu came out to say he's greedy and looking for automatic ticket and that is why he left APC. Was that not the case in 2014? Or is it now a case of 4 legs good and 2 legs bad? Fowl nko? grin

Saraki too has now come our to tell us the real story of 'greed' displayed by Tinubu without regard to the religious plurality and sensitivity in the country. It is only a heartless, wicked and yet dumb fool that would have contemplated a muslim-muslim ticket in Nigeria of 2014/2015 but lucky for them, people like Saraki intervened to save the idiots from themselves hence their 'victory' in 2015.

Now these yeye zombies and praise singers want to exercise selective memory abi interpretation? Abeg make una clear road! Nonsense!

this does not necessarily contradict what saraki said recently.

here, he is talking about sacrifices made by tinubu & the need to put national interest over religious considerations...

he was most likely referring to the sacrifice of tinubu setting down as prospective VP at the time...

Tinubu called OBJ the navigator and all patronising names, but today he is abusing the man.

Elrufai told the world that Buhari is unelectable. Today he wants people to vote for the same incompetent tyrant.

Politicians are not worth dying for, and that is why I pity BMCs who keeps shouting "sai barber" when their ancestral lands would become grazing ranches after the 2019 elections.

Tinubu was persuaded to shun his interest of becoming PMB running mate in 2004 which he bulged to but same can't be said of Bukola Saraki when the party prefer someone else to emerge as the senate president, he went the Judas's way( his core character anyway)

I see Saraki as a selfish, desperate and inconsiderate politician.

From Sarakis dynasty antecedent, they are nomadic politicians, defection from one party to another is part of their mantra.

By the way, I'm from Kwara state

So after hailing Tinubu for his sacrifice in bringing out Osinbajo, that chameleon and serial betrayer called Saraki is now slander the same Tinubu because of ideological differences. Thank God records are kept. No lies or propaganda from Saraki can give him the presidency. It's as sure as day and night.
Tinubu is not contesting anything. He is great as a god father. He has nothing to lose. Those fighting him cannot survive a day out of office unlike Tinubu. Ask Oyegun who is now totally forgotten and back to the village doing cassava farming.

Saraki was simply acknowledging and appreciating everyone especially the then presidential aspirants!

The 2 major players then was Atiku and Tinubu!

Atiku who felt he is due to have the ticket and Tinubu who wanted to be in power at all cost even undermining the religious aspect which is not to fill in 2 candidate of the same religious group as President and VP!

Recall that the argument was so hot that even Fani Kayode then a APC member had to come out publicly with it! He opined that it will not be in the interest of the nation!

Infact I stand to be corrected, it was so hot that Fani Kayode had to pull out from APC then!

I for one thought Tinubu will not give inn! Infact at that time, Bukola Saraki was at the fore front! He was against the muslim/Muslim ticket!

Tinubu also mentioned at one time that Saraki was against him and does not want him to be the vice president!

So it took alot of effort to calm all the players down hence his appreciation for their piping down!

Saraki was on a peace mission then and that he did very well if not for that singular act, Buhari would have being the president while Tinubu would have being the vice president!!!
