Most of the medical universities require the services of an Agent. The universities have accredited admission agencies who recruit students for them.If applicants/prospective students send their documents/apply through the universities they will forward them to their accredited admission agencies, who would then contact the applicants/prospective students.Honestly, some of the agencies, especially those in Nigeria charge ridiculous amounts as their fees.I remember in 2014,i paid $200 to an agent in Lagos for admission letter that I later discovered was issued free of charge if your application has been accepted.By the grace of God,I will be in Moscow this November as a student of pirogov National research medical university.I will start paying my fees,in the next few days. The only accredited agency for Pirogov National research medical university for this year is edugain overseas.I have decided that i must leave for Moscow this year,i have wasted too many resources on invitation letters in the past without honouring them, due to my engagements here in Nigeria.I don pursue money too much, this year by the grace of God I must be in Moscow to study general Medicine.others can share their personal experiences.

Shut the front door! Okay, don’t but tell me.... Mr Ruben? I am actually studying in Pirogov at the moment, which is the second best, if not the best at the moment in Medicine in Russia! It’s actually possible to apply yourself but the language would be a barrier. The agents are there just to minimize mistakes made by students. It would really be nice to see another Nigerian in my school though. The Ghanaians are dominating at the moment and I need someone to fight the Jollof Wars with. I’ll be waiting... Feel free to text or ask questions and get ready for the language and the cold!!! Winter is literally coming

I got my student visa 13 days ago at the Russian embassy here in Abuja. I came here to share my experience of the entire processes. All of the useful information I gave here was also deleted. So I got angry and relented.

@All

This is not a Russian student visa Q&A thread, it's a diary and should not be derailed with unrelated questions and comments.

If any of you wants to discuss Russian student visa issues or admission then look for the thread here(there are many of them), or create one if the existing ones are inactive for the period of 6 months or so.

Good morning guys. I often get emails from people who want information about the admission procedure in Russian universities. I've talked about this in the past and I gave comprehensive details about the admission process and visa application but let me touch on it again.

Like I tell everyone, you do not need an agent to do this for you, the process is very transparent and you can do it yourself. I did mine myself without agents and you can do it too.

Right now, admission has started in every university in Russia, admission procedure varies from one university to the other so I’ll recommend every prospective Master or Bachelor's Degree seeking student visit https://www.bachelorsportal.com/ and https://www.mastersportal.com/ and then search for their desired course while ticking Russian as destination country. Visit the school’s website and then get all the information they need.
The name of my university is National Research University Higher School Of Economics Moscow. My school also has campuses in St Petersburg, Perm and Nizhny Novgorod.
Admission into Russian universities are transparent and open to everyone and tuition feee is always around $1500 to $10,000 depends on the school, state and language of instruction. Studying in Russian language is always cheaper than studying in English, but first you need to learn Russian language for one year in the preparatory department.

My schools website is https://www.hse.ru/ in my university getting admission into Masters program is easier than Bachelors, admission into bachelors degree programs requires a compulsory entrance test in Mathematics, Physics and English or Russian language, depends on the program. I don't think the Masters degree programs require any further entrance test just your BSc result and transcript.

There are also scholarship opportunities for all programs from the Russian Government and each university also offer discounts to best performing students.

For prospective Bachelor's degree students, you need to write an entrance exam so prepare for this. Also note that to study in Russia you first need to go to Ministry of Education in Abuja and certify your WAEC result and your BSC cert if you are going for masters, then proceed to Ministry of Foreign affairs to Legalize the waec and bsc and you also need to legalize those documents at the Russian embassy in Abuja before applying for visa.

The process isn’t as hard as you might think so don’t fall victim to agents who will charge you exorbitant rates to do this for you, as long as you’re not lazy, all the information you need is available online before you ask anyone questions, just go to google and search or go directly to the schools website or send an email to the school and they will reply you. You can process everything yourself.

All the best to everyone applying.

Accurate information!

Most people think it is hard, but I think it is one of the easiest visa to process. Getting inside Russia is easy, but if the visitor or student messes up, that is when s(he) understands that getting out of Russia might be tough. Can land one in jail if one is not careful. #ExitVisa. #Registration Lol.

I cannot see your pictures in Red Square and Kremlin. That is a must for you to share here. And try to take one with the parade guards on horses. They are very nice! Also, have you seen the lifeless body of Lenin?

The mall in Red Square is the most expensive one there. HRM and Zara outlets are favorites of average people. Quite lovely. Working class Russians actually prefer English designs to American, and it is why designers like Mexx still sells there, but, I do not think there is any TM Lewin shop there. Maybe it is there now. Of course, American casuals are very common there too. The day I entered Louis Vuitton shop, I had to compose myself not to show any negative expression on my face. In a section, the prices were in US dollars. I saw $150,000 men's suit, and $15,500 ladies' purse/pouch. Funny, the following week, I saw the same pouch with my classmate. And she was the one who told me that there is always a small 24 carat gold piece inside it which qualifies the owner for life waranty. She pays token anytime she wants to get the pouch remodeled to any design of her choice. Hmmmmm! That was a lovely concept. Afterall, it makes so much sense. Poor man won't know. grin. Parhaps she feels like changing the leather and the color of the pouch every 6 months, one might assume she spends $15,500 bi-annually on different Louis Vuitton pouches grin

Accomodation is the main negative side of Moscow. The pastor of the church I used to attend was living in $15,000/month rent for just 3-bedrooms apartment in the centre. I cannot remember vividly, but I think the closest underground station is Kitai Gourod (Chinese City). If one moves to 3 stations to the last stations of the underground train lines, that is when one gets around $1,000 per month for a room and living room. It is just advisable for students to find schools that can provide cheap hostels and pay $20 to $100 per month. Even students on scholarship under the Russian government program pay pea-nuts. And they even get stipends from the Russian governement too.

When it comes to furniture, homes, and garden, the best place to shop is IKEA. I read that you said food is expensive. It is not cheap if you buy from stores in the city. I used to go to "Ashan", and they were beginning to have outlets in many parts of the city before I left the city. While I was there, Ashan was providing free ride from the outlets of the underground train stations (metro) to their stores. So, you have nothing to really lose. In comparison to some other parts of Europe, food in Moscow is cheap. With 100 to 200usd per month, one can feed healthily on 3 basic balanced diets daily.

I used to be a regular customer of Rostiks (KFC brand there). Actually. KFC was supposed to have a branch there, but the politics there at that time was too rigid, and they pulled out. McDonalds was succesful, but Rostiks later got a franchise with KFC. When I wanted to eat fried chicken wings or drumsticks, Rostiks was my choice. McDonald's milk shake is additive, and I could not stay away from it. Lol. There are so many extremely expensive coffee shops in the centre. Anyway there are affordable ones too and my favorite coffee is Cappuccino. I rarely take Espresso even till date.

Russia on my mind. Anyone who has lived there, always return to visit. Moscow and St. Petersburg are lovely cities. Forget about US - Russian politics and friction. Americans always get scared when they first arrive, but they always return. Why do we think someone like Steven Seagal is now a dual citizen of the US and Russia, and President Vladimir Putin made him a diplomat (special envoy) of Russia resprenting her to bridge the gap between the two nations.

Nigerians are breaking grounds there. There are very rich Nigerians there. When I say rich, I mean extremely wealthy in $$$$ and not naira. Maybe you send me an email and I may be able to hook you up with someone in the Nigerian community. The present Nigerian community president is my friend. He is a very good christian, and an ex footballer. He is so nice, and he has the anointing of breaking new grounds. These are the people you talk to who can bring out anything positive from the Nigerian embassy. grin

Lastly, the Nigerian embassy is tricky. You might think "dem no send you" but if you open your eyes and ears very well, that embassy is one of the best Nigerian embassies in Europe. Even other Africans that are neglected by their own countries are saved by the people in the Nigerian embassy. The people there might appear rude and harsh, but believe me, go through the right channel and you will be surprised how much help you can get. I do not know this present ambassador, but when he spoke about the Nigerians stranded in Moscow after the past world cup, I was happy that the Naija helping spirit is till there.

Our boys are always on top of the game at the Friendship University yearly student world football competition. Always good. Boys dey show skills.

Lastly, the Nigerian Independence day celebration is always colorful with our culture. The diplomats are always filled with extreme joy on these days. Two nations that always respect Nigeria are: Liberia and Sierra Leone. These two nations are always grateful to Nigeria. I do not think I heard that these countries sent their ambassadors representative. They always send their Extraordinary-Ambassadors. There are ambassadors, and there are extra-ordinary ambassadors. "Levels dey" smiley If you take note, powerful Nigerians are always sent as Nigerian ambassadors to Russia. Even General Buba Marwa, the ex governor of Lagos State was considered at a time, but late General Timothy Shelpidi was chosen. He was a former ECOMOG general for peace keeping in Liberia and Sierra Leone.

Once again, this is a very good thread which reminds me of those days. I enjoy your thread. Nice one sir.
