you people should stop deceiving innocent, young ones. This is how pple will take MCB as an alternative to medicine and then be regretting life later. If you like, have PhD in medical microbiology as a BSc MCB holder, nobody will let you into a hospital lab. Those medical microbiologist u see in hospital are BMLS/MMB option and MBBS holders who did residency in medical microbiology. Even the BMLS holders are been oppressed by d doctors, not to talk of MCBites.

Because of the rift between the MLS & MCB, I will advice anyone who chooses MCB to go for other MCB options, MLS/MLT are at loggerhead with us, MCB that we take charge of their work at lab, employing a microbiologists in a hospital is not so easy again, so if u want to enjoy MCB, go for either pharmaceutical or food/industrial microbiology, cos federal government of today has now. Been encouraging industrialization, *SO LEAVE MEDICAL MCB FOR THE MLS* and since we microbiologist have other options, let's show them we are *SUPERIOR*

We Microbiologist have other options to chose from as a career if MLS or doctors are wagging their wings that that we are not reputable to them, then we can go for other beta option than medical, more or less, how much are they even pay MCB, they pay them less compare to Mls/MLT... So stop saying MCB is not reputable, still beta some causes in science...and one of the paramedical cause if u want to study medicine like me... Lata....

Food/ industrial MICROBIOLOGY is one of the best ... If u are lucky, they can make u a quality assurance manager or post you to be a quality assurance and quality control unit like microbiology/physicochemical lab, most industrial/food microbiologist works at quality control department of food industries.. And quality personnel get well paid because without them, a product cannot be sold out, they pay any one in quality department well...Even as an IT student u get paid and get free issues/freebies as they may call it..MICROBIOLOGY IS VERY INTERESTING FOR THOSE WHO TAKE IT SERIOUS...

Yes, you can run a laboratory as a medical certified microbiologists which should be duly registered under medical association!

Most of the lab run nowadays are done by medical lab scientist or MLT who believe they own the labs and dislike any medical microbiologists running a lab cos they believe Microbiologist still have many options compare to them who will mainly earn their living in lab, but MCB can diverge to other options of MCB and leave the lab for them, but if u still feel like running a lab as microbiologists, u can but must be duly registered hope ur question is answered

I have a first degree B.Sc Microbiology, currently working in a hospital, fresh graduate, am underemployed if u know what I mean (When hospital employ you cos they can't pay a Med. Lab scientist) some of my colleagues have gone back to school to study pharmacy but instead of me to go back to school to study pharmacy with another 4 years plus, I rather apply for DE medicine and surgery.
