Top Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi is back again with two new products just three months after launching three new smartphones. This time they have just announced the Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite. Both phones are very powerful looking at the specs and they are beautiful as well with notch display and dual rear cameras. This shows that the company is not slowing down at all and they really mean business. The phones looks like an iPhone but it’s not an iPhone.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro



The display of the Mi 8 Pro is a 6.2 inch notch OLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2248 protected by a Gorilla Glass 5. It is no doubt a flagship smartphone as it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, features a dual camera setup and yeah, it boasts an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Camera and battery

Mi 8 Pro Camera setup includes a dual rear camera of 12MP f/1.8 + 12MP f/2.4 at the top left corner. It also features a massive 20MP front-facing camera. Hiding behind the notch of the phone is a speaker and an infrared facial recognition technology that will definitely rival Apple’s Face ID. The battery capacity on this beast is a 3,400 mAh which supports a Quick Charge 4+ to make charging very fast.

Storage, color and price.

The Mi 8 Pro comes in two variants, the 6GB or 8GB of RAM and a very respectable 128GB of internal storage which is expandable using an SD Card. In the software department, it runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Looking at these specs, Xiaomi does’t disappoint it’s fans at all.Mi 8 Pro with 6GB of RAM costs $466, while the 8GB model will set you back a cool $525. Regardless of which model you select, though, three color options are available: Sunset Gold (gradient), Black, and Transparent Titanium.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite is the midrange version of the phone. It is almost identical in size and design except the back which has a horizontally placed dual camera and a fingerprint sensor.



Display and processor

he display of the Mi 8 Pro is a 6.3 inch notch LCD display and of course it has no facial recognition technology and no in-display fingerprint sensor as a result of the lower price. It is a midrange smartphone as it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset, features a dual camera setup.

Camera and battery

Mi 8 Lite Camera setup includes a dual rear camera placed horizontally of at the top left corner with a main 12-megapixel camera that is accompanied by a second 5-megapixel camera which will be in charge of depth sensing. It also features a high resolution 24MP front-facing camera. Hiding behind the notch of the phone is a speaker and the selfie camera of course. Like I said before, it has a normal finger print sensor at the back which is in contrast to the in-display sensor in the Mi 8 Pro. The battery capacity is a 3,350 mAh which supports a Quick Charge 3.0 to make charging very fast.

The Mi 8 Pro comes in two variants, the 4GB or 6GB of RAM and a very respectable 64 GB and 128GB of internal storage. In the software department, it runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Mi 8 Lite with 4GB of RAM costs the of $204, while $248 will get users access to the 6GB model. If you want want 128GB of storage, then $290 is the price. Regardless of the model chosen, though, three color options are available: Sunset Gold (gradient), Black, and Transparent Titanium.
