Because of Osun election, alot of people have been speaking against INEC. Some have advised Osun PDP candidate Adeleke to go to court and request he be declared winner. I understand thier fustration. I will be fustrated too if I were in thier shoes.

I think we need to be a bit careful how we push this narrative. Inconclusive election actually favours and protect opposition and smaller political parties. We must not because of one election destroy a clause that is actually introduced to promote democracy and defend less powerful opposition parties.

Before INEC introduced the inconclusive election guidelines, the then ruling party PDP were winning election by causing violence in areas where they are not popular there by forcing INEC to cancel elections in polling units and wards where the ruling party is not popular. At that time, INEC will simply announced the winner base on where election was held. By so doing, the election was skewed in favour of powerful parties.

To weaken the ability of ruling party to use violence to win election, INEC introduced the inconclusive election clause to protect smaller parties.

We should be careful what we ask for. because if inconclusive election clause is eliminated ruling and powerful parties will take advantage of it. It will become eaiser for powerful parties to win election by causing cancellation of election where they are unpopular.

We neee to be careful not cut the nose to spite the face
