As nationwide strike kicks off on Thursday 27th September 2018 with the declaration of NLC to demand for a new minimum wage/salary of workers, several activities definitely must have been put on hold since then which I believe affects people/economy in one way or the other.

The question now is, do you really think using a strike action in making demands from government affects the economic affairs of Nigeria?
Or can a new tool of making demands be initiated so that striking actions like this doesn't affect the populace/economic growth of our country?

Honest suggestions are welcomed here...

You can't have it both ways, strike has been a tool used to make the govt rethink their ways. If the increase of salaries was proposed for the governors, senators or political office holders, they would have effected it without much complain or people hearing of it.

When it affects the poor masses, the govt will drag their feet, prolong it or ignore it totally. In this case, it very obvious, the governors are those not willing to consider it. (I know my governor udom is among them)

What you should understand is that, we don't need the government to live and survive. But the government needs us. We can always go back to the era of trade by barter and we will still survive. But the government can't survive without us.

Bring the economy to a haul and the government will be scared. Nigerians are living in poverty. You get a salary and in a week it is exhausted. You are left with nothing but borrowing to survive.

Politicians are living at the expense of our sweat, taxes. They don't eat from their salaries, they do not fuel their cars from it, or build their houses with it. We, the common people pay for their opulent lifestyle.

Bring economic activities to a haul and you will become valued. Or why do you think they start behaving during elections?

The main purpose of strike is to affect (in fact cripple) the economy to force government to the negotiating table.

If the government really care about its citizens, it would do everything to avert strike action

That's why it's always the last resort

So suggesting anything that won't affect the economy is useless
