The Nigeria Customs officials of Federal Operations Unit, Zone ‘A’ intercepted a fully loaded bus carrying two big sacks containing military uniforms and boots along the Ijebu-Ode Expressway.

The white Hiace bus which belongs to Chimezie Motors Nigeria Limited with registration number JJT 905 XB, was intercepted on Wednesday.

While addressing newsmen in Lagos Thursday, the unit boss, Mohammed Aliyu said “This is national security. Though they are not much but the damage that will be done will be much, that is why we seized them.

Aliyu disclosed that his unit also seized 22 cars, including nine bulletproof cars.

He said the cars worth about N1.2 billion, were intercepted inside a bush in Idiroko axis of Ogun State while others were kept in hidden warehouses in Lagos.

“This is the second time I will be briefing the press since I was here. The first time, I told you how we seized contraband goods worth N1.5 billion within 2 weeks in office.

What of the ones that have passed without anybody intercepting?

Please tell these people to keep quiet with all the propaganda.

We keep hearing customs generating billions, yet nothing is changing, all the money EFCC recovered, I pray it has not been relooted

We are out own problem, removing leaders will not bring the miracles Nigerians dream of, we have to start by removing the idea of religion or tribe, else, una go tey for border tongue

Nice work by the customs.

Even as sophisticated as many countries are, illegal arms and drugs evade their security measures.

Learn to appreciate your own.

Armed bandits terrorising the lives of people, i suspect are the people benefitting from these illegal smuggling of military paraphernalia and light weapons.

Who knows how many thousands of these type of consignment that flow freely on a monthly basis?

Kudos to our Custom officers. More of these seizures.

I agree with you on the first part of your comment that it's people either in government or have high connect with govt but the other part that it will be released I beg to differ, we shouldn't always be casting so quickly

Nigeria is sitting on a time bomb honestly. For every one of these that have been intercepted, five made it to their destination.

How did those things pass through the ports (or through the borders) in spite of all the checks and all the commands there?

How long shall this country remain so exposed because of negligence and/or corruption?

Let it not be that someone will smuggle nuclear weapons through these porous ports!

Saw them on my way from Ijebu ode to Tasued stopping some cars and maybe buses but not the one I was in since it was campus shuttle.
They just suddenly decided to come today, I hope their story is not fabricated.
