Hey, thanks for stopping by Moebizy. It is a mystery to me as well, how grasscutters are able to eat raw cassava, with its high cyanide payload, and yet remain robust and in superb health. That said, there are some varieties of cassava that have a very low cyanide content, notably the ones eaten widely in Ghana, whose leaves have red stems.

On the other hand, there are other varieties of cassava that have extremely high cyanide content, and I have seen bush rats (not grasscutters) actually dead on the ground, after eating those varieties.

Bush meat connoisseurs, you have not eaten the best tasting offerings from the farm, until you taste grasscutter meat, which is so tender and flavorful that it is enough to turn any conservationist into an avid night hunter ha ha.

Another question I have is, do the rodents get smarter from continuous hunting trips?
I know naturally their numbers will dwindle, causing one to see less of them and thus increasing difficulty but do they on their own learn strategies to evade the hunter’s rifle?

Now, anyone who has ever hunted grascutters will be very much aware that they are EXTREMELY wary of hunters, and that their keen sense of smell is second to none. Also, there is a special breed of highly aggressive mosquito that follows the grasscutter herds in huge swarms that are ever ready to descend on any hunter that shows up. Those mosquitoes serve as the grasscutters' early-warning system, in that it is nearly impossible to stand still for any length of time, when those bugs are biting the hunter with extreme prejudice, and sucking his blood like drunks on a Friday night.

Well, there is no cure for the mosquito attacks in the grasscutter field, because if one makes any slight move to swat the bugs, the grasscutters will take note and sound the alarm GHrrrrrr !, before thundering off in different directions, leaving the hunter to contemplate his failed mission. There is a means, however, by which the hunter can minimize the time spent waiting to make his shot, and thereby minimize how much blood he donates to the mosquito tax collectors waiting in the farm.

First off, one needs to source a freshly killed grasscutter with all its intestines intact. Take it home, and carefully remove the stomach and intestines, containing the animal's fragrant excrement, which, by the way, is a tasty stew ingredient in Ghana. The green-colored excrement is a hunter's secret weapon, and should be packaged in plastic bags inside the freezer, for future use during upcoming hunts.

Cutting to the chase, the tactical grasscutter hunter can actually DEFEAT the grasscutters' fabled sense of smell, by the simple expedient of smearing that fresh green dung on their lower trouser legs and boots, such that the distinctive odor of grasscutter dung pervades the air during the hunt, effectively MASKING the tell-tale human scent that normally alerts the 'cutters of impending danger.

With FRESH grasscutter dung smeared on the hunter's clothing and boots, he becomes an ATTRACTANT, and no longer a threat, to the animals, who will approach, rather than flee, when the hunter steps into their realm at night. I have personally shot a grasscutter that was so mesmerized by the aromatic smell of my boots, that I had to lift aside by foot in order to deliver a point-blank shotgun blast that kicked a shower of dirt up in my face, and took off the animals head. Now THAT is testimony to the devastating power of using grasscutter dung to mask human scent.

My hunter's secret divulged here may seem too amusing or ridiculous to be true, but I will only ask anyone in doubt, to try this method just once, in order to become a believer.

How much will it cost me if I get Dane gun for 5k will they not tell me that license is 50k. And finally will I take the gun for sight seen in the police station

For students of trapology in da house, here are a few variations that I acquired over time for my collection of unusual traps.

The first examples are factory made metal traps that have been used for generations in the USA. The rectangular Conibear trap is designed to kill small game animals instantly, by gripping them around the middle. Conibear traps are set standing upright, and generally guarding the entrance to an enclosure containing bait for the target animal. They can even be set under water in rivers. The example in this picture is size 110 - the smallest in the series. Larger Conibear traps use double springs, and require rigging with rope, or use of special tools to set. If one of those larger size Conibears accidentally catches the trapper on the hand, he will walk home with that trap on his hand, because it will take TWO men to free that broken hand.

The metal leg-hold trap pictured is for small game, and is very similar to the local gin traps used in Nigeria, though this model uses coil springs, rather than the leaf springs used in the African variant. Finally, the metal-leg snare trap uses aircraft-grade cable to throw a loop around the foot of any animal that steps on the trigger plate.

The wooden contraption shown is designed by Hausa trappers, and is so effective for antelope harvesting that hunters often expel Hausa trappers found using these ingenious devices in southern Nigeria, because they are so effective as to deplete wildlife if used without restriction.
This trap is shown dismantled, set, and sprung, using a length of PVC pipe in place of an antelope's leg.
