People become religious when they are poor and hopeless without any form of insurance.

You are more likely to buy the idea of a pastor healing you if your don't have hospitals, good surgeons or emergency services. As they developed, religion started fading because people got more educated and richer.

is it hard to put religion aside without proper education with more than half the population in poverty.
What gives the poor person hope when they can't afford a doctor ?
Education creates wealth, wealth gives confidence and good life. Thus religion will take a back seat.
You barely see the rich or educated being tribalistic. Tribalism is mostly among the uneducated and poor.
If we can create wealth for the masses, upgrade our education and healthcare, these issues will vanish, naturally.

A country with a population slightly lower than the entire Africa is able to provide adequate basic amenities for its citizens yet Nigeria that has a population of less than 200 million people cannot provide constant and reliable electricity supply for its citizens. Sometimes I feel there's something fundamentally wrong with the black man.
