U see ur tone dun change from Agu has bn average, to he has been decent. So bro, admit it, u were too quick to label him average and uv not really been following him. KPOM

My tone has not changed. By average, i mean not bad and not exceptional. In the middle.

And i have been following him. I saw him against Braga and i would not even rate his performance as high as Whoscored.com.

spot on bro, we must not wait for this kids to reach stardom before talking to them. who know this kid may turn out to be a superstar in the nearest future and by then it may be difficult to lure him because the English FA will take notice and incorporate him to one of their youth teams. nigeria is the surest bet for him and the nff should seize the opportunity ASAP. being a a first team player at the age of 18 in an epl club signifies he has the qualities to make it in professional football.
tbaba1234:

He is 18, already knocking on the door of a premier league side. There is potential there

I hope he decides to play for ireland, better to grab what is in front of you.

Odion Ighalo and Francis Uzoho are injured.

Mikel Obi, Victor Moses (retired) and Ndidi out.

This is beginning to look like deja vu.

I hope we don't lose to South Africa.

My own is I pray Rohr's tactic works. cos now the SA would underrate us about big names are out. Glad Iwobi was pulled out early against Wolves. at least no injury concerns.

WhoScored Player ratings start at 6.0

tbaba1234:

This is whoscored.com. All players start at 6.4 at the start of the match. You will rarely see a 5 rating..

Below 6.4 rating is poor

Above 7.5 is exceptional

All of Agu's ratings are between this. Not poor and not exceptional.

Like i said, he has been there but nothing exceptional.

The attendance was poor they should have played on one of the campuses IMO.

I wish they could play at least 20 matches per season and they need to have their own commentators because we all know the NPFL commentary is poor so why not get some students involved in that? Overall I can't complain because it was a good watch tbh.

I read that they plan to increase the number of schools involved next year. For commentary it would be a good chance for communication students/clubs to get involved.
Location probably affected attendance. A school would likely have more people coming to watch.

I stand to be corrected but I do not think there is any EPL academy that doesn't have a number of Nigerian teenagers.

That means we have potentially about 100 teenager who are all knocking on the door of EPL clubs. Now knocking on the door is one thing, playing consistently enough to be a regular or close y being regular is another thing.

Obviously matters must be taking into context getting into Manchester city, Manchester United Chelsea, Liverpool etc Is a different matter. Why did clubs pay £25 million for KC his exploits in a top EPL club at the time.

A lot of those boys that are knocking on the door the main thing they have is OPPORTUNITY again taken in context. Playing a handful of games as a teenager is great but it's largely indicative not conclusive.

I know quite a few who have dropped from the EPL to non league within a couple of years.

What I am saying what has Obafemi done better that qualified him for special attention. Simple question ❓

And Nigeria is on a higher level than Ireland it's a "no contest"

Obafemi is already playing games in the EPL. He is not among the 100s in academies. He has made the step up to the first team

For me, he should exercise patience and wait for Nigeria. And if Naija fails, he can switched back to Ireland.

Like I told u guys last month that Ademola's paper works were already in progress, Rohr just confirmed in a recent interview that the report wasnt outta place.

”I already asked the NFF to start the process of making both Lookman and Ojo to be able to play for the Super Eagles a month ago”

Lest I forget, Ademola is another success story of the team Nigeria U.K headed by David Doherty.

Waoo, good news. Quality and Exceptional talent. I am so happy

How some of you argue here can be funny as hell sometimes cheesy
Now, I don't know who chuks aneke is or what he is or isn't capable of but I should have more to shut down someone advocating for him than the extremely lazy narrative of 'he plays in league 2, for that sole reason, he can't possibly be good enough'
These things are not exactly black and white, how can anyone not know??

How can you have little to no idea about a player but think you can counter the excellent and well articulated points of someone that does know him intimately?? grin

Except there is something I'm missing and komekn has a history of questionable judgment then you could do a lot better to improve the quality of debate here..

Good job anyway guys grin

Aneke needs to prove himself on a higher level. You can not invite him based on his league 2 performance, it does not tell us how good he is.

I do not buy into the absolute theory that nothing good can come out of certain set ups.
If someone with good judgement spots a good talent in non league, the very least we could do is xray him ourselves and not just dismiss him with the wave of a hand

22 Eagles in Asaba as Nigeria prepare for big Bafana fight

Stand –in Captain Ahmed Musa and 21 other players trained at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba on Tuesday evening as the Super Eagles stepped into gear for Saturday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying battle against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in Johannesburg.

At training as well were goalkeepers Daniel Akpeyi, Theophilus Afelokhai and Ikechukwu Ezenwa, and defenders Olaoluwa Aina, Adeleye Aniyikaye, Semi Ajayi, Bryan Idowu, William Ekong, Leon Balogun, Kenneth Omeruo and Jamilu Collins.

There were also midfielders Oghenekaro Etebo, John Ogu, and Mikel Agu, and forwards Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon, Victor Osimhen, Henry Onyekuru, Alex Iwobi, Isaac Success and Samuel Chukwueze.

Only France –based forward Samuel Kalu is expected on Wednesday.

Table –toppers Nigeria actually need just one point from Saturday’s encounter inside the FNB Stadium in Soweto, outside Johannesburg, to be sure of a slot at next year’s continental house party, but a combination of national pride, assumed rivalry between both teams and commitment to avenging a stinging defeat by the Bafana Bafana in Uyo 17 months ago has adorned this match with a totally different garb.

On Matchday 1 of the qualifying series, South Africa won 2-0 with goals from Tokelo Rantie and Percy Tau right inside the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, as Coach Gernot Rohr sent out a young, inexperienced Nigerian squad. However, that slap (the first-ever loss to South Africa in a competitive match) stirred the formidable spirit in the Eagles and they swept all before them to earn a 2018 FIFA World Cup ticket with a match to spare.

However, the memory of that defeat has not gone away, which was why the Eagles have pulled no punches since the 2019 AFCON qualifiers resumed in September, winning all three matches to bounce to the top of the pool and standing at the door of qualification with a match to spare.

The Nigeria delegation to Saturday’s big match will depart the country aboard a chartered flight from the Benin City Airport on Thursday evening. The Eagles are expected to have a feel of the picturesque FNB Stadium on Friday afternoon by 3.30pm.
