South Africa vs Nigeria: Ahmed Musa to start as false ninePublished on November 16, 2018 By Ifreke Inyang

Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr, is seriously considering playing Ahmed Musa in a false nine position, when they face South Africa in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday.

Rohr will be without top scorer Odion Ighalo, who is ruled out with injury.

And although he has Victor Osimhen and Isaac Success available, the German is keen on using Musa’s pace in running behind the Bafana Bafana’s defence.

The Al Nassr winger has impressed in training playing in the position and looks set to start upfront.

The option of playing Success upfront is still being mooted but for now, Rohr is pinning on using the pace of his forwards in Samuel Kalu, Ahmed Musa and Alex Iwobi in a 4-3-3 formation against South Africa on Saturday.

You mean some thing like:

Iwobi....Musa....Kalu

......Etebo.....Agu
.........Ogu.

I would rather prefer:

Success...Musa...Kalu

.....Iwobi....Etebo

...........Ogu

Collins..Ekong..Balogun..Aina

With Musa and Success switching positions.

These are countries that recognize that fact that the future of their senior national teams lies in the strength and quality of their U20/21 teams.
E just taya me o. At least let Egypt, Senegal, Nigeria, CIV, SA, Kenya just wake up and start the Repping. If the League format isn't limelight enough, this should be. Now Guendozi has announced he is the next big thing now with his performance Vs Croatia. This is how to sell faster than this stale NPFL ends, and then the best players just wants to go to anywhere called abroad even Yemen join. lol.

Akpeyi is likely to start. Hopefully, playing in familiar country will help him play calmly. Ezenwa is match rusty and Afelokhai does not have the trust of the national team handlers yet.

Good thIng with all these invitations but from a cost perspective can the NFF really afford paying all the bills invloved from flying tickets from Argentina to paying for hotel bills?

You do understand that we have not defeated South Africa in our last 4 games not to mention that we are going into this particular match with practically no midfield and players most likely won't play to their full potentials escpeically those who are trying to stake a claim in their respective club sides. The sooner we understand that anything can happen in SA the better for us all

With Etebo's injury, Agu and Ogu will likely start.

This is what our Midfield is reduced to. Who do we bring on to replace this guys if the need arises?

Well, what do I know. I just hope our Midfield is not over run by the Southies.

What do you think Mikael2?

Ogu has never been a dm. He is a box to box midfielder so matching both makes perfect sense. It would be the right balance

There is no where in the News that it is carried that Etebo is injured. But even if he is injured, we don't pray for that, we have a very dynamic squad. Iwobi goes to CM while Iheanacho plays the number 10 role. There is no cause for any alarm.

EEGA:
Chukwueze creates 2 goals for team B, Osimhen scores one as they beat team A 2-1.

Iheanacho and Musa led the attack in a 4-4-2, with Iwobi,Kalu,Ogu and Etebo in the middle for team A.

Brian Idowu is also pushing to regain his spot.-Owngoal.

That Chukwueze guy can ball. He knows how to do that slow Kanu Nwankwo's style of dribbling and he knows how to create chances. It has been a while we had a dribbler in the squad.

I have known that Rohr would choose him.

Ezenwa has not featured in any game for Enyimba for months now and Rohr hardly uses call ups from the local league.

Moreover, he has been praising Akpeyi this past week.
