The Nigerian Army, through an order by its Chief of Army Staff, announced a new theater commander for Operation Lafia-Dole, in its 9 year quest of woefully attempting to uproot the Islamic terrorist militia known as Boko Haram.

Major General Benson Akinroluyo is the latest and 7th theater commander to have a go at uprooting BH.

Meanwhile, Shekau has been in active command with the only biggest threat to him being a rival faction of Boko Haram which broke off with Shekau over "irreconcivable differences".

Is this not a big shame?

From all indications it is obviously clear that the Nigerian Army is not interested in getting rid of Boko Haram rather they appear to have decided to have BH confined to areas in the NE where the latter has established strong holds.

There happens to be a sequence in this failure by the Nigerian Army in containing (at best) Boko Haram.

Whenever there is a southerner in-charge of the Nigerian Army operation, Boko Haram's range and intensity reduces drastically. We saw this very well with the last Igbo Officer who even got showered with praises by the current Governor of Borno over his ability to drastically curtail the activities of Boko Haram. Shettima will receive severe backlash from both his fellow northerners and the Nigerian army over his statement crediting the said Igbo officer of decimating BH.

Now the Nigerian Army has settled for another southerner (a Yoruba) to replace the disastrous former commander who happens to be a northerner and a Muslim.

Is it mere coincidence that whenever a northern commander is appointed, BH activities increases? Is this down to sheer incompetency of northern offices largely due to the quota system that saw them enlisted and promoted to ranks and commands far above their competency? Or are we to assume that northern muslim officers are sabotaging the efforts and lives of their own men in preference for BH? This isn't far fetched as we have seen Buruntai as COAS oversee the release of captured BH elements after he claimed they had been "deradicalized and repented" from their Boko ways. Or how about the case of some NCOs who mutinied and nearly killed their own commander (a northern officer) over what they claimed was his deliberate and systematic sabotage of their safety and welfare. Those NCOs are currently awaiting execution after being sentenced to death by a Military tribunal. Meanwhile the erring General was only forced to retire voluntarily from service.

This war has been raging on for Nine fcking years with no end in sight and this is the 7th fcking Army General to assume control of operations to uproot Shekau and his gang.

Somebody should go and beg Shekau to join the Nigerian Army as he is obviously more of a better soldier than that snake charmer and all his useless officers.

That's because the war in the NE isn't between Nigerian Army and Boko Haram but rather Nigerian Army and itself. Boko Haram is just the smokescreen the northerners in the army are using to kill off their southern counterparts.

Obasanjo severely reduced their control of the army by introducing a system whereby every state governor nominates indigenes from his state into the NDA.

If they are not retiring southern or non-hausa/fulani/kanuri officers from the army they are sending them to die in the NE.

The Generals ae to blame. They are completely idiotic and have lost the entire plot and initiative on how to defeat BH.
