bout 63 lecturers and other staff of Ebonyi State University (EBSU) have been relieved of their duties for alleged certificate forgeries, sexual harassment and extortion. Also sacked were adjunct lecturers of the school who have over-stayed in the university. Most of the staff sacked were said to have obtained their West African School Certificate Examination (WAEC) before their First School Leaving Certificate.

They were also said to have falsified their age, certificates and other relevant credentials. Their sack followed audit report submitted by a committee set up to verify credentials of workers of the institution. There were reports that over 300 persons were affected by the sack, but the management of the institution stated that only 63 were dismissed.

Some of the lecturers sacked for alleged sexual harassment are – Chinedu Ogah of the Department of History and International Relations and Dr. Egbo of Faculty of Education. Some other lecturers are being tried for same offences. Public Relations Officer of the university, Patrick Itumo, confirmed the sack of the lecturers and other staff to our correspondent He said: “That is the reason for the action we are talking about; the disengagement.

They are not over 300 as being speculated. As I speak to you, they are 63 in number that have been disengaged.

In all honesty, I dont blame people who end up adjusting their ages... when you find yourself in a very tough spot in that useless country, what else is anyone expecting?
Someone, after going thru the hurdles of a University will be asked for 10years experience. If all employers of labor keep asking for this requirement, who will train who in order to get the needed experience?
These are fundamental questions that needs to be addressed otherwise, forgery has come to stay and is going no where

I hope Dr. Oduma the former H. O. D. of Business Education is among them.
That dirty man shagged over 50% of female students that passed thru his department, whether single or married....he no send.
That man is not qualified to teach students in junior secondary school.
Although there are good lecturers there but many of them are corrupt and unqualified.

The Ebonyi state government does not have the internal funds to run state universities.

The Internally generated revenue is not sufficient enough.

Also, previous government did not reorder their priority nor save money for capital project funding.

Many other states in Nigeria will start closing their educational institution one by one.

Sacking these multitude of lecturers is just a way to cut down the huge wage bills.

But I learnt all the allegation stated here is only peculiar to south west. I wonder how such allegation will come out from people who are clean in and out. Even someone above said the school has the highest concentration of lesbians in Nigeria. Believe Igbo at ur own peril. They are only defending themselves since they know people are not really used to their evil activities there.
