Go for seed production but the initial cost for dwarf seeds is expensive at minimum 1kg @$1000 or 0.5kg @$550 from India.

1kg seeds is about 3200 and covers about a 2 hectare farm

Yield projection per hectare is about 5-10 tons seeds or above 3000 litres oil.

Thanks but you did not say anything about price of oil and the market for it.

Also, how many plants will be in one acre?

1660 plants per hectare and price of oil per litre fluctuate between 8,000-20,000 naira

Is there market for the hybrid seed in Nigeria? I know most buyers source for the conventional/local seed

You mean at the low market rate of N8k, 1 hectare will produce 3000 litres worth N24m, 10 hectares=N240m?

Is this yield per annum? Is there really a market for this?

Thanks a lot. I will be in touch when I am about to start.

Yes of course. Your market will be cosmetic companies and mostly wholesalers from kano including the Chinese/Indians who buy in bulk

No as the developer said no one has purchased from Nigeria. I know of a 50 hectare farm of the product in Nicaragua.

It's that expensive and effective too. The Moringa oil soap for example is super. I currently formulate one in my household using leaves and about to make a lotion from the oil.

Are you already farming the hybrid seed?Do you have viable seed for planting for sale?

No. I don't have a viable land where I will likely retire as it must be close to any were I will settle.

That's great but do you make for yourself or you sell the soap and lotion?

I don't think there is a particular market. Most of them have agents scouting for the seeds. Eg a white woman who came all the way to Gombe to collect seeds about last year and I was even called if I had in bulk. I didn't really know how she got my number.

if one wants to sell to this cosmetic company, must one first process the seed to oil or one can supply them the seed?

Most will buy only seeds since they will not trust oil production from most sellers. Some people mix their oil with other cheaper essential oils

Selling oil is way more profitable. If an oil farm liases directly with cosmetic companies, I'm sure the companies will be happy to purchase oil instead of seeds.

If the seller proves clean and straightforward, the companies will definitely prefer the oil. The machine with a 1000kg of production cost about 500,000 from the local fabricating companies. The foreign machines can be very costly at much as 20 million for some.

Wow, if the local machines can deliver same quality and volume of oil extraction as the foreign machines, I see no need to purchase foreign machines.
