Typical Nigerian mentality. I thought you’d say make sure you have fire extinguishers at home

You know there some gas cylinders with burners directly attached to it, do you expect people with such type of cylinders to take it outside to cook?

Everything boils down to SON officials who looks the other way after being settled. Most of the goods in the market are substandard, and they all passed through the inspection of SON officials in the wharf. What they are good at is going into the market to disturb and exhort traders

ts called sharpness. If theu dont collect the bribe amd look the other way Niggerians will still call them mumu. Then of course Niggerians and their "lets manage" / " half bread " mentality wont allow anything of value into their homes

thats what I hate most. I and my family can never use that. If u notice most accident of gas explosions, it's mostly the cylinders attached to the burners.

I know most Nigerians can't afford the separate ones but that's the most safest.

That's attached one scares my a$$ and I don't move close it at all.

To minimize the harzard, all the gas cylindar should have lighter to automatically ignite the light when open the gas, this will prevent the case of open the gas and looking for the matches, is like looking for petrol with fire in your hand.

The use of gas in the hostel is prohibited. Until Uche Okonkwo got married to Ifeoma, the latter never lit a gas cooker all her life. Her arrival in her husband’s modest apartment was, to say the least, a lifechanging moment for her. Since they observed their low-keyed honeymoon at home, Okonkwo was still in bed when he heard a loud bang in the kitchen. Pronto he sprang and ran towards that direction only to meet his wife on the floor of the burning kitchen.

With one hand he flung her through the door and proceeded knock off supply from the giant gas cylinder stationed outside beside the kitchen window. Once out of shock, Ifeoma explained that the first match she struck failed to light the cooker hence she went in search of another matchbox, as the failed stick was the last in the pack. By the time she could grab another match pack from the kitchen cabinet, the entire place had been filled with gas, and without any suspicion, she proceeded to light the cooker.

My case is, her husband knowing well that he married a woman from the village should have taught her properly how to use a gas cooker.
Yeah, this is true. Never leave a gas cooker turned on. I even put it off while lighting a match stick, how much more leaving it on to go and find another match stick to light. She's very fortunate the big cylinder wasn't inside the house.

with this it just cross my mind, last week I saw a place some men painting old qas cylinders like hundreds loaded on a van and taken away , I am sure this must be the type of cannisters that cause most accident . but is there no aqency responsible to handle such cases?

I know this setup. Not everyone will be able to afford it, the cylinder alone is expensive for many people. Also, also many people live in face-me-I-face-you houses and have to share a kitchen with many other families. Imagine the logistical conundrum this would cause.

There are more gas accidents from improper use than fake/poor quality bottles and this is a classic example.

You try to light a gas stove and you first open the valve before looking for a matchbox. Na action film you go act.

Well articulated.
That was the first lesson i taught my wife though she has been using it before but never underestimate them.
Instead of using ordinary matches lighter is far more better

Sometimes, these substandard cylinders are brought in knowingly by individuals who don't care about how many lives are wasted as long as they make money...

My question is, won't the cylinder explode when exposed to the heat from the sun when kept outside?
