About an hour after Naomi called, B.M too called.

‘How is the place?’ she asked.

‘Fine. It’s a nice and comfortable place.’

‘Okay, I’ll be joining you soon.’

‘I can hardly wait to have you here,’ I said.

She laughed. ’I can hardly wait to be there too. Don’t worry, your darling Rose will soon join you.’

‘All right. I’m waiting.’

I alternated between watching the television and surfing the internet. By five o’clock, B.M drove herself to the resort. The porter helped in
carrying her bag to the room. I was amazed the way she had prepared for the trip. You would think she would be spending a month there!

She gave the porter a tip.

‘Many thanks, madam,’ the porter said and took his leave.

I stared at her. She was wearing Ankara skirt and blouse, and believe me, she looked pretty and younger that her age.

‘Why are you staring at me?’ she asked, smiling.

‘I’m wondering how beautiful and attractive you are,’ I said.

She smiled pleasantly and came to seat on my legs.

‘What’s your weight?’ I asked.

‘Am I too heavy?’ she parried.

She was on the heavy side, but I would not say so. ‘You’re not too heavy,’ I said. ‘I just wanted to know.’

‘I can’t remember what I weighed the last time I climbed a scale.’

I ran my hand on her back. ‘Whatever you weigh, you remain pretty.’

She put her right hand round my neck. ‘If not that I’m much older than you, coupled with this perspective of our society, I would say that we
should get married.’

My heart skipped a beat. Was that an imagination, or did I hear her right?

‘Get married?’ I asked.

‘Yes.’ She looked at me sharply. ‘Am I too old for you?’

What a question! She must be joking, my mind said. But I must answer her question and I must give a good answer.

‘You’re not too old for me,’ I replied. I rubbed her back more. ‘You’re a perfect woman a man would wish to marry.’

The answer pleased her. ‘Any way, there will be no need for that as long as I’m having you.’

I felt relaxed a bit. She placed her hand on my head and rubbed it the way a mother would act on a lovely boy. ‘I think I should be content
taking you as my boy.’

I smiled. I didn’t know what else to say.

‘But you don’t even love me,’ she said.

Oh, sentiments. We never discussed love before and I wondered why it was coming up now. I knew what she wanted to hear and I would tell her.

‘Says who? I love you, my darling.’

She stared into my eyes. ‘Really? Must you say things to please me?’

‘I’m not saying anything to please you,’ I said. ‘I’m serious, I love you.’

‘Prove it,’ she said.

Ola is too cheap for my liking though, right from accepting an accommodation free of charge, influenced by a woman u just met. I believe he doesn't have dignity. There is a kind of fulfilment that comes from paying for somethings yourself. N who has sex with a woman u just met, in her house, with her daughter (who does not really know you) in the sitting room. Even fuckboys gat standards.

Naomi to me, is too domineering, still boiling down to Ola being a weakling.

As for BM, she saw an easy to manipulate individual, and took advantage. Na she get sense pass for d whole story.

she handled things. In the office, I admired her ways of getting things done. Big Mummy was an astute business woman. But this one about love was way beyond it. I loved my Naomi, but I just had to be discreet with B.M. I had learnt something from her smartness.

I knew she was smart enough to be weighing the import of every word I was giving as answer, so I really had to be careful the way I answered her.
