Igbos can't be playing absolute opposition and just because there's an unwritten rotation of presidency they expect it to be handed down to them!!
They are practically not in good terms with any geographical zone to wield the needed desired support to win any election. Just as they are not even in love with themselves to clench power.
Do they even think Atiku has the weight to sway the North to vote in an Igbo president?
The Igbos have made themselves politically irrelevant in the present day system and they have no one to blame but themselves.

They showed hatred to APC in 2014 when it was being formed, they showed hatred to Buhari in 2015 in Election, they voted against him and also voted against Ngige who had the opportunity to become number 3 man. They are Atikulating now and if APC wins, power will automatically come to the South, Yoruba Nation is working hard now to get it by then, Ndi Igbo are working against it now through lack of focus and foresight. Whatever you sow, you will reap.

THE WISE ONES SHOULD READ AND DIGEST THIS PIECE.
The TRUTH is bitter, but it most be told.............

What we lack in the East is UNITY.
That is the only thing killing our tribe.
In UNITY we stand.
That saying is GOLDEN!
I have deliberately kept mum on this as I had earlier resolved to speak less on Igbos as regards the 2019 Elections and 2023 Presidency having said quite a bit.

However seeing as some of my brethren have swallowed the cheap bait, I will chip this in just to keep the reality before us, at least for posterity sake. Truth is bitter but it's still the best medicine.

My people say; 'He who does not remember where the rain started beating him, will not remember where it stopped'.

REWIND TO 2014.
A new National Party was being conceived. Political Parties, political players and Regions were being wooed to the new alliance.

'We' Igbos (read South East) vehemently refused to touch it even with a long pole. We packaged, sold to ourselves and bought the baseless propaganda that it was an Islamic alliance that would birth an "Islamic" and "Hausa" Party. Simply because those our brethren heavily invested in the PDP at the time were afraid of losing their vested selfish interests.
Till today I'm still trying to fathom the basis for that wicked and twisted deceit especially as many of those Igbo elites who sold that dummy have since ported to the same APC.

We failed to even identify with that new Alliance. Hence the Party, APC was birthed without any remarkable input from us or presence. The few amongst us who aligned were called all kinds of names and abused to high heavens by us even when they were proven right afterall.

Thus the few Igbos who were part of it were at best fringe players as they didn't have the required clout to make serious demands and do the necessary political wheeling and dealing required in Politics to strike the hard bargains since politics is all about interests and numbers. They were even suspect, so much so that it was only their personal political sagacity that gave them whatever they got.

That Party went on to win the Presidential Election which in truth, most of us never believed it could or would, because of our half baked permutations and poor understanding of Nigerian politics. But it did.

Curiously we turned up at the fore front of telling this same Party how it should share it's 'spoils of war'. We became hypocritical moral champions with an over bloated sense of entitlement. Who does that, in all political reality and practicality? But we did, even while vehemently and vociferously still refusing to shift our position, style and rhethoric.

We dug in. Supported every bad thing and person against the Party, the elected President and the Administration while denying any and every good done to and for our Region.

Fast forward to where we are today. Almost four years after the 2015 misadventure, we have stayed put at 2015, refusing to move forward, refusing to shift grounds, refusing to play pragmatic politics, telling ourselves the same lies we cooked and bought in 2015 and some more.

Just one month to another election, we have started again saying "APC cannot give Presidency to Igbos in 2023". "Buhari cannot hand over to an Igbo man because Buhari hates Igbos". "APC is deceiving you", bla bla bla.

Of course. We will believe Saraki, who has only but a fanthom dream of becoming President and whose only known record is selfishness but we can't believe Buhari who's already President and who has a record of voluntarily picking two great Igbo sons as running mates in the past? Chukwu aju.

It is interesting and vital to note here that the PDP which many of us still proudly support and adore was in power for 16 solid years and in those years there were 4 Presidential Inaugurations and on none of those was an Igbo man found worthy by the PDP of even Vice Presidency and we are still bold to say it is the APC that has not even finished one tenure that doesn't want to give power to Igbos. Odi nma.

NOW; Seriously, let's be sincere. As things stand today politically, why would the APC even hand power to us Igbos in 2023?
On what grounds?
On what records?
On what politics?
Is power given to anyone?
Is it an appeasement or a gift?

The APC is a political party. The main focus of a political Party is to hold power and keep it to enable it deliver on its agenda. So if the APC reads that the SE does not want the Presidency or does not have the capacity to help them win and keep power, they will stick with the regions that can and work with individuals who are interested.

Make no mistake, I have always said, I do not blame us Igbos for the decision majority of us took in 2015. It's our right. But continuing to pretend that it was other regions, Buhari or the APC that made us do what we did then or remain where we are today is purely self deceit and I refuse to play that ostrich game.

As far back as 2014, I and many others made that argument that Igbo Presidency was very feasible in 2023, ONLY under under the APC, ONLY IF we did a couple of things right politically. I personally continued to speak loudly on that even after the 2015 elections until when I realized that we were not ready to play the politics that was required and now I dare say it may be too late. Or is it not? Time will tell.

For now, we can continue to tell ourselves that we cannot hold the Presidency of Nigeria. I heard and read many of our brethren go from PDP to Biafra/seccesion (read IPOB) to Referendum to "Igbos do not need Presidency but Restructuring" etc forgetting that all that didn't lie squarely with us alone. We think other regions are not reading our body language?

I really don't care what Saraki writes or says because they've all come to realize that it's very easy to play us like a flute. So like Saraki, like Fani Kayode, like Fayose, like Atiku, even Jonah Jang of all people, they keep playing us.

I've learnt not to bother myself anymore to avoid unnecessary abuse from nonentities . As some of us have said, it's good governance we want, even if only one village will be producing the Presidents. So be it.

I just don't understand Igbos' obsession with Yoruba affairs. In 1999 when Ekwueme was dragging with Obasanjo, no one showed this kind of inferiority complex.

You people need to go and study 'Democracy'; though you deserve to be president but not given on platter of gold. You need to build bridges not burn the few you have; everything is calculation in democracy. The party and her leaders you abuse everyday and where you dodn't belong will not come and dash you presidency in 2023.

You are massively supporting PDP and Atiku/Obi but still want to decide what happens in APC. shm!

When will igbos learn? Ojukwu and Awolowo agreed on secession but Awo had another plan which was to serve under Gowon in other to become president of Nigeria. He jettisoned the agreement. Today Ohaneze and Aferifere have been in agreement of restructuring the the country , but now they (afenifere have different agenda which is to support buhari for them to get presidency. What happened between Ojukwu and Awo was not different from what is happening today. Igbos learn ! We are not one in this contraption of a country lets support Nnamdi Kanu to actualize Biafra where we belong. South west shout restructuring with their mouth but in their heart they love Nigeria as it is. Igbos don't be foolish,

Even after reading this cleary written and well explained piece some people's comments are still upside down

Anyone who sits infront of the stove and shout "give me heat" without adding fuel will sit and wait forever. The igbos are investing in PDP so they should gladly enjoy the harvest whatever it is. Same thing goes for other tribes and whatever they're investing in.

Why are Ohaneze concerned with what Osinbajo or Tinubu are doing in their Amala and ewedu janjawee.d APC party?

Why not face their party PDP or APGA that they have laboured for, while Tinubu is facing his own party that he has laboured for?

Even in PDP, the Yoruba politicians will certainly contest for the 2023 presidential ticket there, just as Ekwueme contested against the victorious Obasanjo in 1998 and 2002 primaries of the PDP when the ticket was last zoned to the entire South.

Don Etiebet, Alabo Graham Douglas, and a host of other Southerners contested the 1998 PDP primaries that Obasanjo won without any entitlements.

The entire North of PDP have had their turn in 2018, with Atiku from NorthEast defeating Tambuwal of NorthWest and Saraki of NorthCentral.

As per PDP rule, the 2023 presidential ticket will be zoned to the entire South, and the SouthWest and SouthSouth will compete for it, since the SouthEast have chickened out of it and have rather shown interest in being deputy to a Northern candidate in continuation of the legacy of mental slavery and inferiority that their ancestors passed on to them.

As for APC, it will do whatever is good for APC without any regard for Ohaneze or PDP that are irrelevant to the party.

This is bitter but true!

This man below knows the truth.

The Igbo elder has advised his tribesmen to work hard like the Yorubas are already doing.

The time they are spending lamenting and attacking Tinubu, Fashola, Oshinbajo and Yorubas generally, they could have spent it traversing the country and engaging other tribes and their trado-political leaders.

Instead the Igboman thinks that such lobbying is beneath him who by delusion is the most qualified to lead Nigeria. While still making out time to mock those politicians from other regions who are already doing the lobbying.

The Igbo man calls those politicians as slaves, yet his answer to the political affront posed by his adversaries is to be a deputy to a Northerner.

When a Northerner, even an Almajiri, promises an Igbo man the deputy position beneath a Northern principal, the Igbo man feels loved and overjoyed like an orphan who never experienced the warm embrace of a loving parent.

To him, it is like a fantasy come true, like Pinocchio searching and finding the Blue fairy so he could become a real boy.

See below what an Igbo elder did when he learnt that a Fulani gworo-chewing Muslim Atiku will chose an Igbo boy to be his deputy. He totally lost his composure and hugged Atiku like the Messiah his dying generation had been waiting to see.

He even said it was his dying wish that his tribe must continue to serve under their Muslim Fulani Northern masters, rather than aspire to the prime position themselves.

What a shame!

I wanted to take you serious but I just learnt that hypocrisy is in your blood and dishonesty is your brand.
With all the positive developments the country had under YarAdua -Gej tenure, who joined forces with the northerners to oust GEJ and install a semi-slowpoke as a president?
Which tribe still supports this crass incompetence in the country and still deputizes the north just to remain relevant in the scheme of things?
Is it because an Igbo decided to work with a northerner that makes igbos slave and politically naive?
Wasn't a south southerner a vice to YarAdua?
Wasn't a northerner a vice to a south southerner?
Wasn't a northerner a vice to a south westerner?
Why is the igbo case giving u sleepless night simply because atiku didn't appoint an afonja even when you seriously lobbied for it.
Guy, go get small sense, this is new year.

So be it.
Dr Uche......

Ka Chineke mezie okwu.
God bless your family and you with these analysis.

We are not one, our tribe first before Nigeria, Yorubas are not related to ibos. Ibos are only and always looking for opportunity to be on the same level with Yorubas. No way. Real SW must vote massively for Osinbajo/ Buhari, politics is about your people only, ibos are not our people please.

as long as ohaneze refuse to follow the dictates of the people they claim to be representing (referendum), and instead, continue pursuing their own self-generated agenda (restructuring), their days of relevance in zoogeria's political space are fast coming to an end!

are they still hearing oyorubas talking of restructuring?!

the extinction of the ohaneze dinosaur, in all honesty, is best for the great igbo tribe as this will leave MNK with no rival.

when top dogs like ben nwabueze have been turned to harassed puppies in the hands of zoogerians, crying for recognition from people who, in a sane country, cannot even tie their bootlaces, you know that things have come full circle for the old guard and its time for a fresh approach from the next generation.

a next generation ably led by MNK!

WE THE GREAT IGBOS WANT OUT OF THIS ZOO AND BY GOD, WE WILL CROSS HELL AND HIGHWATER TO ACCOMPLISH THIS!

CHUKWU OKIKE ABRAHAM MEZIE OKWU A! AMEN!

How you you think you can get an igbo president in 2023 if APC wins the next elections? Remember, APC is a party you hate so much and are not likely to get 5% of votes from you guys

Be care full what you wish for, you just might get it.
MNK would be worse than KJU (Kim Jong Un) by his antecedents so far. He already calls himself supreme leader.

but thankGod dat d igbo are wise and knows who to vote for wen d time comes
whether president o or no president,d igbos will still survive cos dey are truly blessed.

You are right, equity demands in 2023, Igbos need presidency. But, the presidency you need is not like father Christmas/ appeasement presidency. Igbos will need to work for it. No where in the world , Presidency is given out on a platter of gold
