I have no answer to this. I cannot relate with this at all. Not all you see in films are there at all. Some are photoshops. I do not think that a responsible church like Catholic, will give their hallowed sanctuary over to horror movie directors. I do not think so at all.

I have noticed that whenever there's a horror film that involves a church, it's always a catholic church. It's always one dark, big catholic church with reverend fathers and nuns.

I have seen over hundred horror films acted in the catholic church and it makes me wonder why always catholic? I once saw a horror movie acted inside the Vatican with dead bodies buried in secret graves inside the Covent. In fact, catholic church has become the standard church for acting high selling horror films.

They hardly use pentecostal churches or anglican. Is it because the catholic church is the most spiritual church? Is it because it's the most powerful and richest church?

The Catholic Church was at a time, the only universally accepted church. It has a rich history in exorcism and her rituals during her various celebration makes her mysterious thereby more cinema worthy.

The reason is simple. It has everything that makes an entity a religious one. It has rituals. It has an authority you can't go against. It is generally solemn in its worship. Above all, when you talk about Christianity the world's mind go to Catholic church. Any opponent of Christianity or a novice in Christianity always act against or think about Catholic.

Catholic Church is different from Rome Catholic aka Church of Rome.
Roman Catholic is not the universal church but a branch of it just like the other Orthodox (ies) like Greek church or the Egyptian Coptic church...

It's because Catholic is the first church, (and the oldest)and also the name Catholic means universal church
Again ,in addition Catholic have the highest number of worshipers ,and is very popular, so the producer will definitely look for a subject/structure and will attract a lot of audience.
Before I forget ,I must say that except UK ,most development christian countries are Catholics ( making up to 70 to 90% of each population) , I have been to mexico and I know that 90% are raw Catholics.

Before I stop , permit me to ask these questions (1), why are Muslim/islamic countries used for acting terrorist movie (2), why are protestant churches used for acting immoral sex related movies ,and why are buddhism /hindi used for martial art movies

There is a lot of hidden things about Catholic church people don't know and they don't want people to know.

Read about crusades and if you watch most films that put their settings on crusades you will notice it is always roman Catholic Church they use and how their leaders are selfish and power hungry.
I believe there was a reason why some people break out to form the Anglican and pentecostal.
