That would be more disastrous. try this experiment. put an egg in a tin container and throw it on the ground, then put it in soft cloth and throw it on the ground too. the egg smashes to pieces while in the tin but does not while in the soft cloth. planes are soft for a reason, planes like the dc-3 where strong but it was noticed that during a crash, while the fuselage was intact, all passengers died, no matter how soft the crash was, they got smashed just like an egg inside the plane. So a plane's fuselage is meant to cushion our fragile body. whereas the black box is not a human being but a strong machine built with hard materials. So there are more chances of people dieing in a plane with a hard fuselage than a soft one.

At this dispensation (21st century) plane shd not be crashing again ..... Maybe another plane should be escorting the commercial ones to provide security abi planes should be developed with a kinda canopy to land it safely anywhere .....
and a float to make it float in water !!

These accidents are devastating !!!
