As long as that visa application resulted in an issuance, and you have never been refused a visa under 214b or any other sections of the INA, you can say that you have never been refused a visa. A 221g refusal simply means that not enough information was available at the time of your application for a final decision to be made.

You could answer that you have never been refused a visa, or, if you like, you can answer that you were refused 221g and subsequently issued.

Sorry, what is a 221(g) refusal? A refusal as written alongside it I presume. In what sense then sir? While it’s yet hanging on my neck without my application being “officially” REFUSED so to speak, can the Canadian or any other embassy hold this as a REFUSAL against me if for instance I am yet to attend the interview, supply the requested documents or get of its hook generally by reason of being issued a visa after it?

This includes prospective students, business travelers, tourists, and those seeking medical care, and it applies to everyone around the world, regardless of nationality.

If you visit our website at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/tourism-visit/visitor.html, you will see that receiving medical care in the United States on a B1/B2 visa is legal. However, the website also states that applicants must demonstrate that they can afford to pay the "doctors’ fees, hospitalization fees, and all medical-related expenses". Though every situation is different, accepting discounts or paying less than the full amount can raise questions about the applicant's finances, credibility, and their intent and ability to pay for the full cost of their care.

Any explanation on why a first time applicant, that was supposedly supposed to pick up passport with B1/B2 approved visa was given a 221g, and told to reschedule for another appointment under 221g after passport pickup?

I understand this could be applicable for drop box applicants. Has this happened with first timers as well?

Thanks for providing clarification. For our awareness, how do we best present burden of proof & doctor's correspondence when we're not given the opportunity to do so? What I mean by that is a VO quickly going through the standard childbirth questions and not bothering to read any burden or proof or doctor's correspondence.

It's tough to understand why a woman whose husband owns several companies, has several hundred thousand in assets, and a $30,000 USD medical bill (no discounts) can be denied under 214b with a VO not asking to read or view any of the bank statements or doctors correspondence. If someone like that can't get a visa, where's the hope for the rest of us?

What scenario in general may cause a VO to not bother viewing any documents or burden or proof, then proceed to deny under 214b?

Thanks for your response.

However, I did send mails before and no definitive answer was given. The response I got after my query is attached herein.

And while this inability to get a date for the follow up interview is still on, a few others have been able to book appointments both for fresh interviews and follow ups as per 221g refusal.

This now makes me want to ask if truly interview dates are released to applicants on individual basis and if the insinuations that the dates are deliberately blocked from some of us is correct.

Though new appointments are frequently released, they also fill up quickly. The response you received indicates that there were no available dates at the time you corresponded with CGI. Please check our website regularly for new appointment dates.

Specific individuals are not blocked from rescheduling appointments. As stated above, anyone who is having difficulty scheduling an appointment for reasons other than no appointments being available will need to contact CGI directly and follow up with them to resolve their issues.

I have a friend who is a refugee in a country where uscis has an office. He has lived for over 2years there. He got married to an American a year ago. Can he successfully apply for a spouse visa to move to the states with the wife? If yes what’s required of him to facilitate this, any guidelines as he is still a Nigerian over there which is why I make this inquiry here

When applying for a B1/B2 visa for any purpose, you will need to demonstrate that you both intend to leave the United States after a temporary visit and that your intended activities in the United States are consistent with the visa class you are applying for. In the instance of medical tourism, you must demonstrate that you have both the ability to pay for your intended treatment and the intent to pay for the treatment you receive. Our officers see dozens of cases like this each day and are capable of determining on their own how best to elicit the necessary information. There is no specific format that we look for or utilize.

Please Sir I have s question to ask.My husband and I wants to apply for a B1 along with our 5months old son to visit my aunt in Atlanta, Georgia and also for tourism (coca cola world,the aquarium site etc)What documents do we need to present during the interview and our chances of been granted the visa?

Note: (I own a fish farm,and my husband a poultry farm on a large scale with staffs)
