Nigeria is a third/ fourth world country and power consumption in Nigeria is very low, including Ota, despite the presesence of the so-called industries at Ota, 1000MW would still be in excess, even for entire Ogun state, esp when you also consider that the power supply In the state is not going to come from this fictitious power plant alone. The cost implication(about a billion dollar) is also a factor to consider. pls read this https://www.engineering.com/DesignerEdge/DesignerEdgeArticles/ArticleID/10829/1000-MW-Generating-Facility-to-Power-One-Million-Homes.aspx and https://www.engineering.com/DesignerEdge/DesignerEdgeArticles/ArticleID/10829/1000-MW-Generating-Facility-to-Power-One-Million-Homes.aspx

I'm not against winners chapel or Oyedepo but I'm just giving you reasons why it's not even conceivable in the first place
my knowledge about power generation and distribution is small but what I know is that for them to have thought of it means they know how to go about the generation, distribution and regulation. And like I mentioned earlier the cost of building this plant is definitely the least of the issue here.am not sure he would flinch about a billion dollars sir..

Christiandom is under attack, the new one now in vogue is pastor will call out your bank name, account number and give you your account balance and ask for a percentage of that fund because God has need for it. How did we get here?
This is nothing but sorcery
Criiminals everywhere

If that is happening in the Church you attend, you should change Church.

Okay so na now you know say without restructuring there is no hope. Mark you the owners of Nigeria want it like that so just lament but steer clear. Nigeria is one huge crab basket.

And he probably voted for Buhari who is against restructuring.

which national grid again when power supply and distribution is already privatised!
Power may have been privatized, but the licences generator pumps all generated power to the TCN transmission network(national grid) because the generating points are not the same as usage points. The current setup requires gencos to sell their power to NBET, who in turn sell to the DISCOs.
By the way, the national grid is still fully owned by FGN

It's not a stupid law. Why would a private entity need more than 20Mw? If it does I'm almost sure an exception would be made. A 1000 Mw plant is not about running a campus only.... that's launching into the business of selling electricity to the FG. Can you accuse the tax free church of having a tax for business?...no... because the church will say they are following the law...ehmmm.... we have development plans to eventually utilise all the electricity we are generating.... but currently we are only using 20 Mw of the 1000 Mw ...so we have to follow the law and sell the excess 980 Mw to the FG..... a d that's how the church will cover itself with the blood money.
Do not speak evil of the Church o.
There is absolutely nothing wrong in they selling the excess supply to FGN through NBET like other GenCos. Its just that will they want to pay tax on that specific income?

Hmmm...what evil? Nothing wrong or illegal in selling the excess power...that's the law. What is wrong is the main intention is to sell the power. Paying g tax?...why should they?...the law exempts them from paying so that's not an issue. This is conducting business under the shelter of church.... and that is wrong.

I can bet Nigeria has enough installed capacity to provide near uninterrupted power. Unfortunately this capacity lies on the premises of individuals, corporate organizations and industries. What we need is the political will to open up the power sector and detach it from cartels and the application of technology ti harness it.

For instance I have a 60kva generator in my home and a 200kva generator at my office. When I leave for work in the morning my energy consumption drops to a capacity of 5kva. Instead of wasting 55kva doing the laundry and cleaning the house I can have a smart two way meter through a charge controller to pump the excess 55 kva capacity into the electricity grid and either get a cash payment frorn the supply or the equivalent discounts on my future electricity bill or a recharge on my tot up power card similar to making a bank deposit into my account.

Then your generator can be as effective as your personal car doing a rush hour taxi run while you are still at the office, just a lot more discreet and patriotic. Incentify the process by providing smart two way meters and watch as 20,000 megawatts is instantly made available to the national.grid.

We need to think out of the box in Nigeria to survive.

Are you sure you are OK? Is it the responsibility of churches to build power plants or the government that collects taxes from you as well as control over all available resources? You need urgent help.

Lol, so how do the Church make it's money? Is it not same public money as same as the politicians loots?

So many blind followers

Funny thing. The law doesn't actually exempt religious institutions and NGOs from paying tax. It only except their normal incomes such as tithes and offerings (which has already been taxed in the hands of the donors). If such funds are invested for commercial gains in securities or businesses, such incomes become taxable. However, given the volatile nature of religion in Nigeria, the tax man always avoid the brouhaha that will follow if they attempt to collect tax due.

Just imagine a church that is less than a local government in Nigeria constructing 1000 MW plus the 15MW they already have that is functioning, can you imagine if the various useless satanic government from 1979 till the current Oldman in Abuja embarks in similar project the issue of power would have been addressed, why not allow 3 or more local government in each state of Nigeria construct 500 MW yearly, state governors should construct 1000MW while the federal government should construct 2000 MW yearly, Nigeria will have 24/7 Power but they are looting and stealing.

God bless Bishop Oyedepo, l don't care wether it is tithes, offering, peace offerings, lamb offerings, special seeds etc but one thing I know, is that, it is working in the winners Chapel, Buhari should beg oyedepo to come and teach him governance shocked
I'm very certain that if the government could get their hands on 10% of everyone's income we'd have more light by now or be on the streets yelling, "What the fuq you doing with our money!?"

That's what UK and Ireland do with solar power. You get credit for energy you put into the grid. Nigeria, however, seems to limit how much power an individual can generate, or I don't see why we are not building solar panel farms, apart from my own ignorance and the fact that it takes a lot to say "Let there be light", and light is. We will only have light when we are wise enough, I guess.
