5% wage is small no serious country does that not even ghana here , its 15% in ghana...it should be 10% minimum in Nigeria

No country develops without taxing 30% of its gdp

For we its just 7% and u want development
Seun pls create "unlike" button .... it is a way of telling some people they are not sensible and reasonable .... just with a button !!

Smh ....if u dont pay tax how do u expect government to function

Is it with the 300bn they get every month ...that 250bn is for paying civil savants and debt servicing

The truth is Nigeria can never develop if we dont pay tax

By the way the money budget (not really gotten ) to the national assembly and executive can't pay civil servants for a month

So u know who eats our money

Lol...you guys are clowns Shaa... You can't have it both ways. You have gotten your minimum wage of almost 70% difference, where do you expect such funds to come from? Abi you think CBN will just print fresh notes and add to the treasury?

After increasing vat, fg should increase witholding tax, consumption tax, then introduce input and output taxes, tollgates in every 5km on federal roads, increase tax rates for all revenues, imported item, introduce tax on all export items, increase tax on all commodities and all raw materials. Then double vat charges on luxury goods and flight charges. Introduce tax on water and drugs. We can't be borrowing money to pay salaries
Then One Alhaji sitting at Federal Inland Revenue, and Another one sitting at Ministry of Finance will just be chopping them all and laughing at your folly while they remit 55% to Nigeria purse only to be shared across board and 30% of it chopped again grin ........10% goes to infrastructure only for the contractor to chop it again and no qualms because he is a friend to the politicians ........

You think "Turenshi" can work in this country .... chop make I chop ...... chuachua everywhere grin

Mazi, you Berra stay with sexcapades cheesy ... Economics no easy fa tongue

Labour should go and sit down.

From 5% to 7.5% is actually a small price to pay.

Labour should be more concerned about boosting productivity and getting more people in the workforce.

Not making politics out of economic strategies.
You are the one who should sit down, stop commenting on topics above you.

Please, what are the functions of government. To pay salaries of unproductive workers or to provide social services to the Nigerian masses.

You use words you do not even understand. The Nigerian government is the most irresponsible government in the world as it does not invest in any important development matrix such as education and healthcare at the same time our labour unions only seek to perpetuate poverty amongst Nigerians.

Do taxes need to go up. Yes.

Does the government need to reform its civil service before raising taxes. Yes

What is the consequence of raising taxes without reforming the civil service? Increased poverty.

I'm sure you're still being fed so you don't know prices of commodities in market.

Don't you know almost all things will increase in price by same percentage? Even what your telecom coys charge per secs will equally change.
Eventually, the increase in minimum wage will be meaningless and be at loss due to overall increase in prices of goods.

This is the first time I'm really seeing a senseless post like this today. 2.5% increment on all VAT in all goods purchased and you think it's small?
Where did you leave your brain abeg?

Re: Proposed VAT Hike: Labour Warns Against Plan, Vows To Resist It by BlackBaron: 1:37pm On Mar 24, 2019
Nigerians would cut off their nose to spite their face. 2.5% is hardly negligible every month. Yet, people want the country to develop its infrastructures...?

Nigerians should stand aloof, there is need to be proactive about the political wind movement on issues that concern us directly... We are what we stand for.
