my hubby invested in it...
3 big flat screen tvs at 40k each
bug generator 45k
two big standing fan 18k
dstv decoder, dish and insatllation 65k
wiring & workmanship 20k
40 benches 28k
land 1k per month
planks for building
cement and sand for plastering.
misscelleneous
we spent more than 400k then sha....but the turn out is poor because of betshops, Hotels, Beer parlors and shops showing games for free...worst of it all...startimes is now showing most of the games and you can subscribe as low as 100h to watch a match.
na wa ooo, me I nor even get all these money....no problem...

Op follow your instincts after dissecting everyone's comment & seek God's guidance over the business.

Please incase any viewing center owner is in need of a large screen 50" Samsung tv, just pm me as I have one unused and suitable for this business.

op I think from all the comments here you should know what to do, ensure you have a contingency plan especially wen season ends or stdnts go on break. viewing center are not lucrative anymore unlike before. nobody wants to squeeze himself in a crowded area with children even insulting to adjust body, they will prefer watching with a beer at hand in a bar. Go tv even shows smaller matches now not to talk of betting shops every where. Be very guided you might end up frustrated. I have not even talked about the stress, fueling and employment of a helping assistant
do you run a VC.... Anyway I don't expect it to be easy.... But I still think a well run VC would get its audience here.... I'm using myself as an example... I still shaked my head when I got to a VC 2 days ago and it was not opened... Also there is a high population of students here... All the raw materials are just there staring at me....

Betting has spoilt it. It's no longer lucrative. In fact all the shops I know are dead or dying. Bet shops show free matches and most people would rather try their luck with their 100 bucks than pay to watch.

Banish the thought.
Big lie bro. I run a successful one

Firstly, call Dstv customer service and ask them for the rate and package the have for Dstv viewing centre. If you are to start without using the package for viewing centre, you will close shop in 6months because, SS5, SS6 are their prime stations for football.

For you to show 2 live matches @the same time, you will need that package and 2 decoder. If you start with the regular subscriptions with the premium package is @15,800 and you will have to show 2matches @the same time with 2decoders then, it will be very very expensive.

Also, you need to look @location. What are other viewing centre during. You will need to also introduce drinks and snacks for them to buy doing viewing time. Make sure you have a very good generator set and also have another as backup.

Lastly, don't do I will pay later or I want to watch first half game or 2nd half game only. Make sure all game are fixed price except when you are showing double matches, you have to charge twice. If you are collecting N100 for a single match, the N150 or N200 for double match. Best of luck
na who go pay N150 for two simultaneous live matches.?

You funny sha.

Thank you.... You got my point.....I want it to be an awareness kinda thingy, the nation's cup.... I want people to come in and watch "Nigerias match free, and other selective or high profile match..... I have my TV and gotv to do that without any wahala.... We can put any chair for now and most people won't mind standing..... My first aim is the awareness,I want them to know they can watch football here FREE and should not be peeping on the road.... Enter watch ball, enjoy yourself, go your house, come back next day....

Twentyk, make sure u have tickets to give to customers.
For the side i dey watch match, money no dey cause problem, the owner and 2 worker dey operate.
The first worker go collect money and give the customer ticket at the entrance.
The owner go collect ticket from the customer before the customer go sit down.
And the second worker go be like a number10 in football, e go dey in-charge of maintenance and protection of the property and anything u wish him to do.
If first half finished, the owner will give each customer going outside for refreshments ticket.
Coming back for second half, the owner will collect is ticket back. New customer will have to pay the first worker to watch second half and the first worker will give the customer ticket that will give the owner.
Note:The owner always give the first worker new ticket difference from the first one to give new customer to watch second half, so that the calculations go dey smooth.

Nice one

Hmmm....I find it funny to read some quotes here.
It a pity that people are just talking about what they don't know or have little experience with.
Well, I am currently running a viewing center since 2015 and I have a lots of experience which I would like to share to any potential investors who is ready to listen.

Please note: It's not black and white as some novice have painted it here.

whaooo
great.
i can see you have zeal to start. its lucrative if you have the right market n demand for it. security , location and population with income flow will determine ur moves...
this is my 7th year in d biz, 6th yr as owner, 5season of paying @ most #1,900 for dstv access if need be, and now d only surviving vc in my area

u shud however know dstv does not show all matches.
and that for 2 matches it will cost u abt #15k monthly n #18k for 3matches on dstv.

lemi giv u a hint

BUD ( Big dishes ) vs dstv

Analysis....
BUD VS DSTV....
1ST YEAR....

BUD... DISH , DECODER CCCAM ETC #250,000. 12Months

DSTV..
1st sub ...decoder , dish n installation #75000.
9months sub of #18500, = #166500 + #75000

Total of 10months = #241500......

pre season..
bud ✅✅✅✅
dstv....avoidance...or sub single activation..#9800.

2nd yr...
Bud....cccam , meg etc 12months....@ most #30000.

dstv...10months sub...
#185000.

3rd year...
Bud....with new fta n cccam #30000.

dstv increases sub to #19000/month
=#190000.

& D trend continues...

if ders euro or world cup ( june n july )
dstv go go full 12months
dats xtra 2 months sub for dstv........

cut off ur running cost ( sub especially )

BUD is big dishes....e.g 4-4.4m

thanks a lot for this write up.... I'm in lasu road and there's a lot of boys around here... When I moved early this year, I was shocked when I couldn't find a viewing center on a super Sunday, and when I eventually did find one, oboy I was dissapointed....

I have also been wondering how Id be able to show two or more matches etc... I wlli surely look into the 2 decoder package.... A quick question here, what if I want to show 3, 4 matches? Do I get 4 different decoders.. How many decoders could I get...

Call Dstv customer service you will get details or better still go to their office in GRA Ikeja for full details.

The truth is I won't do it all over again. Why?
Because the general life cycle of the business is in decline. Due to many number of reasons which includes but not limited to the emergence of the IT. Another major challenges is who to trust with the business if you are not going to be fully involved. Tickets idea of a thing is not effective. Exactly my bro, I started this business with my life savings thinking I would be able to recoup my money back at the short or long run.. but here I am, with almost 5 seasons gone, I'm still not break even with no hope in sight... truth is, if you have other long term ambitions this business is not for you. Invest in other things even like treasury bills..

You may think you will get your money back at the short run but lemme tell you, it's very difficult to get 100 customers in a single match as some people posited here. Also note that you can only show maximum of 4 matches ( the big clubs) in weekend while the number of fans of various clubs will be vary that also influence your sales.

Secondly is even if you are able to get it be rest assure that the following season you will get a competitor that will challenge you and eventually cut down your sales significantly with little or nothing to do about it..

Thirdly, your fixed costs will remain regardless of whether you make sales or not.

Woo my bro, it's not a funny experience abeg.
If you have not committed to it yet, I will advice you to look elsewhere..
