Hello People

I am planning to install solar panel in my house to generate electricity in my home. I have inverter and battery that are serving me well. I use the electricity from NEPA to charge my batteries and Generator to charge during long period of public power outage.

I want to go further to mount solar panel to use the electricity generated by the solar during the day and the electricity stored in the battery at night.

For those that have used or are still using solar power, how has the experience being so far? what appliances does your solar panel carry in your homes? how many solar panel is ideal for four bedroom apartment.

Moderators, kindly help push to the front page to have robust conversation in this renewable energy of a thing. I hate generators and anything carbon. I am an environmentalist and love green so much.

Let the conversation starts!!

My batteries have been working efficiently with the inverter - going up to 8 to 10 hours on full charge. I charge with NEPA when there is light and Gen when there is no light for long time

Now I want to install solar to help in charging and storing energy in the battery for future use. You can use the electricity from the solar directly in the afternoon.

Lets hear other people using solar.

Since you already have battery that's good, the next thing is to make sure you install the right capacity of solar panels that can charge the battery. Also ensure that a qualified engineer do it for you. The rule of thumb is that at least two 250Watts solar panels to one 200AH battery.

Hello Bro, I will check the name but it is a wet cell battery that is refillable when the power diminishes

I intend installing six 250watts solar panel. Is it ok as an expert going by your name? Which means I need to get one more battery. I have two 200AH already.

Yes 6*250watts panels is okay, ie 1.5KW solar panels, it's better for you since the system could still be in use during the day time while storing the surplus in the battery for night. With such configuration you won't need generator for charging. Only connect to phcn supply especially if your gen. set uses petrol.

Note: you may not need additional battery since the two is serving you well. Also with such configuration you cannot use 3 battery because you're using a 24Volts system. Battery have to be in multiple of 2.
