WAFU 2019: Injury Rules Out Falcons Safe Hand; Nwabuoku, 20 Others Storm Abidjan

0 comments, 06/05/2019, by Best Choice Sports, in CAF, Football, News

By Ebube Dike

Super Falcons goalkeeper, Tobechukwu Oluehi has been ruled out of the WAFU Women Championship holding in Abidjan, Cote d’iviore from 8-18 May, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can authoritatively confirm.

Tochukwu who sustained an arm injury is expected to be out for 20 days, and was joined on the list of those dropped including Mary Anjorin, Joy Jerry, Rofiat Imurum and Ugochi Emenayo.

Tochukwu we gathered will join the team to the final training tour in Austria immediately after the WAFU tournament.

Those who would fly the country’s flag in the tournament includes three goalkeepers of Christy Ohiaeriaku, Chiamaka Nnadozie and Alaba Jonathan.

Four defenders of Glory Ogbonna, Chidinma Okeke, Maryam Ibrahim and Mary Ologbosere made the list.

There are also seven midfielders of Peace Efih, Osarenoma Igbinovia, Amarachi Okoronkwo, Adebisi Saheed, Evelyn Nwabuoku, Joy Bokiri, and Cynthia Aku.

US based Uchenna Kanu will lead the seven other forwarders of Alice Ogebe, Uchenna Kanu, Chioma Wogu, Rita Okoro, Rofiat Sule, Esther Sunday, and Antionette Payne to the tournament.

The team will depart Abuja Airport on Tuesday to Abidjan.

This might seem hurried but I back this midfield to lead the team to the trophy. I expect a shakeup in the team after this tournament if the coach is serious.

Adebisi is a female name
mostob:
I hope we unearth another decent defender in this tournament.. the over reliance on Ebi and Ohale is too much. Aside Ayinde and Chikwelu,it will be splendid if we can get another decent MF.
...and Adebisi Saheed? wtf is she a transgender ni ..Lolz

My apologies Amarachi Okoronkwo has only scored one penalty. The other one was taken by Nwabuoku who has been looking good on the pitch.

The right back put in a wonderful cross and Kanu met it perfectly this time but the ball came off the cross bar.

They are playing some good stuff.

I am very impressed with the fitness level of the players today. Uchenna Kanu is lethal with her head. She's going to France. Also very very impressed with Adebisi Saheed when she came on. She is the future of Falcons midfield.
Good to see Nwabuoku play at Centre back. She will gain from it.

The coach use a system I don't think I have seen before. Granted it was a 3-4-3 but the left and right CBs were practically given the license to roam forward almost as wingbacks. Nwabuoku saw so much of the ball and was the teams main outlet she also put in some nice crosses. This was the best I have seen the Super Falcons play under Dennerby.

The coach is currently trying out 3-5-2 Formation....which he used against Canada....but am still wondering how the formation is going to accommodate our 3 top strikers
Desire Oparanozie
Asisat Oshoala
Fransisca Ordega...
