Means no winners yet, So why is this topic's headlines claims Cyril won?

The ANC is still leading with 57% after majority of votes have been counted. He is winning. Just a matter of announcement.

Who was expecting otherwise?

As it stands, no existing party would be able to unseat the ANC for some time to come.
you are wrong, they are losing support already. Read the story again.

That's one advantage they have here. It's open for all to see. Each party sends an observer in all counting stations. Their system is not perfect but it's way better and makes sense.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa’s ruling ANC won re-election on Friday with an absolute majority in parliament, results showed, but with diminished support, complicating economic revival and anti-corruption efforts.

The results, published by the electoral commission, are the party’s worst national showing since Nelson Mandela led it to victory in the first multi-racial polls after apartheid ended in 1994.

The African National Congress (ANC) held a comfortable lead with 57.73 percent at 1615 GMT after 95 percent of voting districts were officially tallied following Wednesday’s vote.

That means they will be mathematically assured more than 50 percent of votes cast in the final official tally, due to be announced Saturday.

Seats in parliament are allocated based on vote share and the party with the most representatives selects the president, who will be sworn in on May 25.

President Ramaphosa, 66, took over last year when the ANC forced then-president Jacob Zuma to resign after nine years dominated by corruption allegations and economic decline.

Results released by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) showed the ANC’s closest rival, the main opposition Democratic Alliance (DA), trailing with a distant 20.65 percent of the vote.

The Economic Freedom Fighters, founded six years ago by former ANC youth leader Julius Malema, was in third place with 10.51 percent — up four percentage points on 2014.

I never indicated otherwise. If the current president is able to redeem the wasted opportunities of the ANC, I don't see why the majority will vote for any other party.

DA? White dominated. Many Black's won't support them. Apartheid survivors are still around in their numbers.

EFF? Radical and somewhat insincere.

You think this process would have been acceptable to Nigerian politicians?

Election was held since 4 days ago and some ballot boxes have not even been opened to be counted.

In Nigeria, counting is done instantly at the polling stations, it is collation that is deferred. Any serious political party with agents in all polling stations would have been able to know its overall performance in its situation room long before the official announcement.

If its own results defer substantially from official results, it will have evidence to challenge such results at the tribunal.

In the case of South Africa (which incidentally Nigeria was using up to 1983), ballot boxes can be successfully substituted on the way to the counting centers and it will be difficult to challenge such results. Even a political party can deliberately cry wolf that the ballot boxes have been substituted when such didn’t happen but people will still believe such allegation.

Congratulations to President Cyril Ramaphosa on his electoral victory.

This is an opportunity to finish the unfinished business in south africa.

I think it is about time South Africans open the door of opportunity for white south africa to assume leadership of the country.

Since the fall of apartheid in South Africa, we have had Late Nelson Mandela, Tambo Mbeki, Jacob Zuma and now Cyril Ramaphosa.

WHO KNOW JULIUS MALEMA IS WAITING IN THE QUEUE TO ALSO BE PRESIDENT.

I think there are better white south african that can rule that country to economic greatness and end south africa 's problems such as Xenophobia.

No surprise.
He is not running all over the African continent to serve as a foreign power stooge, he is focusing on
domestic issues.
The man is wise, humble, intelligent and he has great managerial skills in government affairs.
He is not like the pitiful rooster-brained ones we use to see.
