He said that working a few gathering frameworks would empower the electorate to pick their pioneers equitably without predisposition or perplexity.

As per him, the multi-party framework worked in the nation was an unimportant misuse of the country's assets.

"We host 91 political gatherings in the nation by and by which are altogether subsidized by the administration; this is inside and out misuse of our country's assets.

"I will prompt we streamline these gatherings to a few to control against perplexity on which gathering to put in power and deal with our assets well,'' he said.

Our contesting political parties shouldn't be more than 5 or 3 at most. Of what benefit is having 100 political parties and 98 of them cannot garner 50000 votes out 180 million plus population? The recent election really exposed our political naivity and unseriousness to the world.

The problem is there is no place in the law that says you should have a set number of parties.

The reason why we have so many parties is that the late lawyer Gani Fawehimni got an order from the Supreme Court saying that INEC had no basis in law to restrict the number of parties it registered.

So, either we create or pass a law that states that every party has to have offices in all the states and x number of members before it can be registered, or we keep on registering anyone who forms a party.

The truth is, not everyone wants to be in PDP or APC. People have// prefer other groupings.

Is it the parties or the corruption in our system that has to be reduced?
Re: Nigerian Government Urged To Reduce Political Parties by Nobody: 7:16am On May 12, 2019
As far back as secondary school, I studied in Government then, that one of the requirements for registration as a political party is that such proposed political shall have office in the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.

But it seems that has changed.

Because imagine 73 political parties presenting presidential candidates yet I only know of two party offices in Enugu -APC and PDP.

I think INEC is aiding stupidity.

The requirement is not in our laws, it was a rule that originated from INEC.

The late lawyer Gani Fawehimni went to court and got a ruling that stated that the INEC guideleines were not backed by law...and that is how we ended up with 73 parties.

If INEC had its way, they probably would have stuck with their 'offices in all the state' rule.

National Assembly should have passed a law backing INEC'S original rules....but since that would bring out protests about 'freedom of association....

Yes any political party without either a state governor, a rep or a senator, should be excluded from the presidential race, any party without a a local government chairman, a state hose of assembly member or local government council, should be 3excluded from the gubernatorial election . otherwise it must keep upto 5 billion naira or more with inec foe six month through out the election period.
