Reading 34 pages might be a lot but it's not a bad place to start. Depending on your schedule, you may register at one of the closest AFs, go for private tutoring or just simply self study.

What you seek is doable. Cheers.

Good day everyone. Akwa Ibom State ministry of Education has a relatively affordable French language center. It's 9500 the first month & 5000 for subsequent months. The 9500 is inclusive of study materials. They have morning and evening sessions. The class starts every quarter & lasts for 3 months. You also have the option of paying for private lessons at 30,000 a month.

Just thought I'd put this out here for someone who might be interested.

Combien coute l'examen TEF, s'il vous plait?

fadeofresh:

Hi @Kennyyo, have you paid for the exam? are you already fluent in french?
let's share ideas before the exam date.

I have already paid for the exam in June, I'm quite fluent in french.
I've read through this thread before and got some tips.
I downloaded a couple of books and i think 2 of them are very essential (TEF 250 Activites & TEF Objectif Reussite)
There's also a youtube channel with tips for preparing for TEF (MIMI TEF), I've watched some of the videos there, they're quite good.
i noticed for the TEF the materials for preparation are very limited unlike IELTS.

Any other person preparing for the exam, let's share strategy and ideas.

Bonne Chance a Tous!!!

Hello everyone! It's your guy, etrange.

So I've got good news for those sitting for TEF in Lagos. The one month preparatory class is now free for those who can make it to their new headquarters! The slots are limited though and it's on a first-come-first-server bases. Hurry now!

For our fellow francophiles typing in French above, please, remember not to use accents so aunty spam butts will not catch you! wink

Let me go back to my prayers for those awaiting their results and those yet to write.

Your result is most likely ready, just tweet at them, using this handle @FrAffaires asking for an update. That's what I did to get my result when they wasted my time.

Thanks! I'll just wait...I'm actually as nervous as I am eager to see the results grin

Yep! My AF tutor and the AF Director were discussing this during one of my classes...I guess they feel it's not ok to charge so much when many people get A1 and A2...

Oh yes. It's actual cool if you asked me. Once people hear TEF could boost their score, they quickly run to AF to do the exam hoping they'd luckily pass. This has increased the rate of failure. Asides the fact that candidates waste their money, it'd not be good for the reputation of AF if it's said that they only collect people's cash for the sake of it. Besides, that will no do any good to our statistics when French ministry of education releases the statistics of TEF results by country. Lol.

If one is really preparing for TEF (targeting B2), being tested for B1 shouldn't be a problem. I don't think AF is saying you should have DELF B1 certificate, they are only saying your French should be at B1 level, at least, before you attempt the exam.

so how do we prove that we are on B1 level? Are we going to write a test at AF to prove this?

B1 actually gives you Zero points. If you score a lower Band B2 being CLB6, you'd score 1 point.

Let me first state that my post is completely my thought and not from any source linked directly to AF and therefore subject to verification.

Now, to answer your question, AF has a placement test they give to new students who aren't so sure which class to join. It's possible same approach would be used to ascertain a prospective candidate's level.

Na!

See the charts below and link

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/eligibility/criteria-comprehensive-ranking-system/grid.html

CLB 5 and 6 is 1 point
CLB 7 and 8 is 3 points. CLB 9 and above is 6 points.

B1 can be CLB 4 or CLB 5.

For absolute clarity sha it's the numerical scores that puts you firmly in a CLB band....because you can get a B1 that is a CLB4!...zero points

CRS moved by 3 points... grin....I can't even laugh well...in these days of 450!!!!

What must I do to move from CLB 5 to CLB 7 in EE? I actually thought I did well with the letter (maybe not). I wonder if AF can critique one's past paper?
