there are many companies in Nigeria offering solar power option, and me I don't like competition I love innovation..

A big opportunity for my company to light up Africa. When I see news like this, while some will be sad and disappointed, I am always happy and excited that opportunities for me are getting bigger and bigger. My company will put in all it has got to make poor power supply a thing of the past. My company is not all about making money but about shooting Nigeria to the top of innovative countries in the world.

Two things drive innovations in today's world
1. Electricity
2. Internet access.

Nigerians have intelligent people but lack just these two things.

The government can no longer satisfy us. We can no longer wait for them to fund power generation. They are more confused than us.

Entrepreneurs are the game changers

Take a look at the richest, innovative countries of the world today. Say China and America, these countries were made by Entrepreneurs. Jack Ma changed the trade system of China with Alibaba. It changed China.

Jeff Bezoz's Amazon changed the E-commerce of America
Gates changed humanity with his computers.

Entrepreneurs are the hope of Africa. Entrepreneurs are the hope of Nigeria.

Why not go for something more cost efficient and will save you money on the long run. You can buy Grünwattsng solar and inverter
mrphysics:
Well, power has and will always be an issue. In my office, we have, 24/7 power supply. Throughout the day, I have stable supply of electricity and internet.

Also, I stay in Abuja where we have relatively good supply of electricity. However, if there's no light, my 4.5KVA is on standby (this is applicable only at night and weekends)

Yes and some more too. It is divided into three parts; E-commerce, Food production and Technology (The technology is 75% focus on Electricity and 25% focus on internet.

If I tell you that power is not my challenge, then I am a big liar.

To tackle that challenge, I once thought of MTN/Lumos solar electricity. I went to MTN office at Ikeja to make inquiries.

From the info I gathered, you may make a one-time payment of N250k or 25k or so and renew it with about 5k monthly. You still make an installation payment of 2k.

Sincerely, I was ready to go by the second option until I was told that there was no guarantee it could power my TV (and it cannot power my fan either). I walked away at once grin.

Later, I spoke with some friends at Computer Village about laptop power bank, they told me it's a China-made product that you should never consider buying. Sadly, I ran out of options.

But what helps me greatly now is that I have two laptops and a 1.9HP generator. So, whenever I put my gen on, I charge the two laptops. When they run down, I charge them again.

Well, I work from my home. And in my street, Ikeja Electric rations our power...two days on, one day off.

My saving grace is that I write, so I don't spend time online. For some reason, the Internet drains devices' batteries.

However, I look forward to relocating to a part of Lagos with more stable power supply just to cut running cost. As it is now, there is no assurance of 12 hours power supply the days we are supposed to have power.
inverters are better alternative and i sell inverter and batteries

Generator has always been the saving grace since I started my freelancing journey.

I live in a part of Abuja where we can't boast of 12hours power supply and the saddening part is 2 minutes walk down my street, they enjoy steady power supply, at least 20 -22hours supply daily. I have a friend there, so I go to his place few times to charge my laptops.

I use two laptops to edit and produce audio podcasts for my clients and the laptops have a combined power of about 7hours.

There is also a 2.5KVa generator at home that I often use. I plan buying a UPS this month or next that has at least, 10hours battery juice.
look up at what i offer with 135k i will gv you 2 200ah batteries and a 1.5kva inverter

A system with two 200ah batteries and 1.5kva inverter. With say 300w load could give you between 15-18hrs

2×200ah = 86k
1.4kva inverter = 46k
Installation cost = 5k

1x200ah = 43k
1kva inverter = 35k
Installation cost = 5k

Brand new batts or used ?
The cheapest fakest 200Ah battery cost about 70k,
Premium is not less than 130k each
So how come 2 units for 86k?

its not brand new, they are fairly used and fully functional.

What load capacity will amount to 300W ?

i need to get batteries and inverter for someone. He basically will use it for Printer(small hp), laptop, tv,phone and a fan.

At the same time?

Printer about 35w
laptop = as much as 65w when charging
fan = as much as 50 watts for standing fans * 80 watts for ceiling fans ( non energy saving ones)
phone = 5 watts
tv = as much as 150 watts even 200watts ( for non energy saving ones)

So we will work with the worst case scenario; that is about 385 watts thereabout. If you want a more precise answer;
then you must know the exact wattage of each appliance to be powered and then add a 10% extra for headroom.

You need to get this load audit right => it's critical . else the whole installation will crumble and you will
start saying "renewable energy doesn't work"

So assuming our 385watts; the next step of the calculation is how long would the items be turned on . . .

the 2nd important part of the equation => duration

Assuming 10 hours only every day => that's 385 w x 10 hr = 3,850 Wh of usage per day; You will need 2 x 200 Ah batteries to supply that load

But since you cannot use a lead acid battery past 50% of it's capacity; else they die prematurely; it means you must get double => 4 batteries

If he wants to run them for only 5 hours; reduce the batteries by half of our original case study amount i.e. 2 battries in total

If he wants to run for 20 hours; multiply the amount by 2; 8 batteries in total

The inverter shouldn't be loaded past 70% of it's capacity; so a 1000 watts inverter would work in this case . If planning future expansion, get a bigger one.

Do this and have peace of mind . . anything short of this will only work for some months and fail terribly. Trust me!

1.5kva and 2 200ah will pretty much do his job, but all dependent on if you do swap btw main grid and inverter system. If his system is entirely inverter based an upgrade in the batteries say additional 2 is needed

Omgosh, thank you so very much. This explanation is priceless.
Power is fairly constant and there is generator too but i thought of an inverter as a back up plan and limit use of generator.

Thank you once more. This will be a guide for me.

So, I just got a 450 watts solar panel, 0.8 kva luminous inverter, and 200ahs battery installation.

However, the fan inside the inverter does not work during solar power, the charging light indicator on the inverter does not work during solar power. Do I have any cause to worry?
