Good evening the pen & pencil cuddling ladies & gentlemen.
As an aspiring author, how do I go about submitting manuscripts or getting an editor to peruse my scribble(s)? Am in dire need of assistance in pushing out my imagination in prints.
Thanks already for whatever help I can get from this platform of repute.

I see. The critics claim Doris was too much of a goody-two-shoes, and to be fair they had a point, but they also say there's no way Jide would hate Doris because she's rich. Are those critics sure they live in Nigeria? They went on to add they thought the story was boring, and they weren't sure they'd download the other parts. What did you think of the story though?

Would you like an editor to help you evaluate or rework your story?

Simdi The Super Girl by Gson Ebuka

Chapter 1:

Simdi and her Grandmother
Simdi’s grandmother had always told her that talking to strangers was not wise, but she just couldn’t keep to herself. It appeared curiosity ran in her blood. It was like a major motivation that always fueled her actions. She had long forgotten what she and her grandma had talked about earlier in the day. All that ran through her very young mind was how to gain as much knowledge as she could from anyone that came around.
“Why are you so curious, Simdi baby?” Grandma asked, snapping Simdi out of one of her usual fantasies.
“Mmmm… I did not hear you well grandma”
“Why are you so interested in getting to meet strangers?” grandma Mamuzi asked.
“Umm,” Simdi said with a smile that showed she was she did not exactly have a response. “I believe we should learn from everyone we meet.” she answered.
Grandma Mamuzi was a little surprised by Simdi’s response. Simdi was just three years old but sometimes sounded like a teenager. Grandma Mamuzi thought she was probably a genius. This was understandable because she was the only child of two professors.
“I know what you mean Simdi.” Grandma started out. I know it’s good to want to learn. However, talking to people you do not know could be a little risky. You could be kidnapped. That is one thing I fear so much. “I understand,” Simdi said. Sounding grown up again.
Although Simdi’s parents were both university professors, she had never left her village neither had she been in the four corners of a school. Her parents died when she was just a week old leaving her to be raised by a poor widow who Simdi believed was her grandma. Simdi was an intelligent girl and it was difficult for a lot of people to believe that she had never been to school. She was very well fed and had a chubby look. She was very light skinned, just few tones from being an albino. Her very wooly African hair and brown eyes were very distinct features which made her very recognizable from a distance.
It was a regular custom for Simdi to read her grandmother to sleep every night. She had never been to school. However, she could read. She was taught to read by her grandmother and the ease with which she learnt to do this was proof of her intelligence. From reading books, Simdi was aware that there was a whole big world outside her village. Only very few people her age knew this.
Every evening, the children in Simdi’s village would converge at her house to play games and listen to stories. At the tender age of 3, Simdi already knew more stories than a lot of people that were two-times her age. She had learnt most of the stories she knew from reading books and from listening to her grandmother each time they made dinner together.
Very few people in the village knew Simdi’s real age and her real name. They called her computer. A lot of people thought she was way older than she was because of the manner she carried herself. She was a mature kid and was an exemplary figure to children in her village. Such comments as “do it like Simdi” were very common in her village. A lot of parents wanted their children to be like her.
Simdi had just turned 3 and had started following her grandmother to the farm and market. They would wake up every morning by 5am and would go to the stream to fetch water before it became clear. After the daily ritual of fetching water, they would then go to the farm to get crops for sale. At the age of 3, Simdi already knew the price of most of the things her grandmother sold. This made it possible for grandmother to leave her alone at their stand when the need arose.
Grandma Mamuzi lived almost a century before finally breathing her last. She always created time for Simdi as well as other family members. She made it a point of duty to always gather the children in the village together and teach them to be obedient to their parents. In her final days, she enjoyed taking a walk round the village every evenings and visiting families.
Simdi was very sad, her grandmother and best friend had passed away. Relatives had gathered from far and near to give grandma Mamuzi a befitting burial. Simdi knew some of the faces she saw. However, most of the faces were not familiar. It had been a long awaited burial ceremony, the entire village was shut down by the large crowd of people that came from far and near to attend the burial.
Two days after the burial, most of the relatives had gone back to where they had come from. Since Simdi had no one to stay with in the village, her auntie agreed to take her along with her to the city. Her aunt lived in a city very far away from their village. They were going to go by bus. Simdi was told to go to bed early because she had to get up early in the morning. Their journey was going to be a long one. This meant they had to leave their village as early as possible. Simdi went around and bade her friends goodbye. She also gave out some of her books to her friends. Some of them in return gave her gifts. Since there was no real means of communication, Simdi promised her friends she was going to come back very often to check on them.

To everybody who downloaded the first part of my debut novel Bitter Perceptions: Thank you for your support. I took it down after I received a negative review on a Nigerian fiction blog, although Libros Agency were more constructive with their criticism. Due to popular demand from those who saw the book for what it was, the story is now back on my blog tamiokorodedeh.com. Scroll down the homepage and click on each chapter. The first two chapters of part two have been added, with a new one post every Wednesday. You may also want to read the TOOBS series based on my life as a boarding student in Aba. Thanks again.

Bassey looked down at the spreadsheet and mused over the figures for a moment, as if he understood what he was looking at. He wasn’t quite sure what exactly what he was looking at, but from what he could gather from her words he knew that the outcome of the situation was not a good one. He choked a moment on his reply as he felt the grip of anxiety and fear parch his throat. A sudden attack of itchiness also crawled over his skin like a million tiny spiders, causing him to nearly jump out of his skin, as he almost bounded from his chair. Only to quickly sit down again, unsure of how to react to something like this. Why did he want this job again? He asked himself silently.
“So what do you think, sir? Do you think you can do something about this? What would be our best course of action?” Temi pelted him with her questions in an almost rapid-fire method that seemed to overwhelm him. He nervously rubbed his forehead and the stubble that he could feel peeking through the pores of his chin and jawline. Bassey tried to calm himself with the delightful smell of lavender that had begun to waft into his nostrils. He looked around for a second to see where it was coming from, then realized to his surprise that Miss Chikwelu’s hair must have been the source. This also surprisingly made him happy in this tense moment. With his renewed calm, at the expense of her great shampoo, he felt he could collect his faculties and solve the problem.
“You said you were from first floor, right?” Bassey began by asking. He felt like a man cautiously walking through a field of live land mines praying not to set one off.
“Yes, sir. I am a first-floor accounting analyst.” Temi confirmed, standing upright from her leaning position over him. Her face read that she felt she had been standing perhaps too close to him. But he didn’t mind at all. She was relatively attractive and he would have preferred a woman to be leaning over him, than one of those smelly overbearing oafs that he usually found presenting these sort of things to him.

Hello Everyone,

My novella, DAPPLED THINGS, is now available on OkadaBooks. Do get a copy and have a good time with some interesting characters in the book.

BOOK TITLE: DAPPLED THINGS

DESCRIPTION: “Brian paused here, but the priest remained silent. So, he continued. “You see Father. I turned out a monster, just like my father was. Now, I will die just like he did.”
The above line perhaps captures the ethos of this story—one of a vicious cycle; as much of the characters that this story is about as of the country in which they live. Dappled Things tells a story with many contours; leaving you with a range of emotions from grief to love. You leave this book however with faith and with hope.

A group of herdsmen and armed bandits had invaded the plantation with crowds of cows and flying bullets from their Avtomat Kalashnikova - 47, the cattles basically leveled the array of green fields to the ground leaving behind dungs and lifeless bodies. Reina got to the field where she saw dozens of the plantation workers, some charred with gunshots and others marred with matchetes as the cattles muzzled the leafs and trampled on the dead bodies. Reina sorrowfully looked for her fiancé as she carefully searched and checked through the bleeding bodies lying on the floor in the thickening shadows of the setting sun. Finally she saw Abdul who had being badly bruised, Reina ran towards him as he was already giving up the ghost. She placed his weight on her clenched thighs as she knelt on the composted grass, begging him to stay with her as she could feel his soul floating skyward away from him. “Breathe, breathe. You would be okay”, this were the words she altered before one of the herdsmen came to her with a long gun and said in Hausa “Am doing him a mighty favour” as he pumped a bullet into Abdul’s chest. With the river of tears in her eyes she could rarely see the face and barely get the right nerves to react to the heartlessness of this young man. She lurked in hateful disgust but could only see the wickedness of the man and the voice that trailed the gunshot; If only her cries could bring Abdul back.

The Vampire Struck Chapter 1

It was a lovely day for running. The sun was shining, the wind was blowing, and all I could hear was the pounding of my shoes against the concrete and the occasional traffic. For that, I was thankful, because if I had too many witnesses to my current running state, I would die of embarrassment. I am not a runner. In fact, I hated running, but I was late and I had woken up in the middle of nowhere.
Luckily, I was nearby the diner I happen to work at. Unluckily, I was still in my pajamas. I was hoping for a miracle. I spotted the diner and half-ran, half-died through the door. Before I could compose myself, I was greeted by my boss, a rather moody old lady named Eleanor.
“Eleanor, I can explain,” I automatically gasped. She put up a hand sharply.
“You’re fired,” Eleanor stated, “I don’t want to hear it, run on home.” I stared open-mouthed at her. I couldn’t believe it… well, I could actually. I had already known this was going to happen eventually, but I couldn’t believe she expected me to
run home.
“But I didn’t mean to,” I pleaded desperately in a small voice.
“This is the 3rd time this week alone you’ve been late, and each time it’s something else. You’ve slept walked, your car broke down, your grandma died, yada yada. This was your last chance, young lady, so you can march yourself on out of here,” Eleanor waved her hands in a shooing motion towards me. I felt my shoulders slump in defeat and scooted myself out the door in disappointment.
It was true that I did have a bad habit of being late to work, and that perhaps I may have fabricated some stories to try to cover myself for it, but it was better than explaining the truth. Sometimes I had feelings,
strange feelings like images similar to dreams, which led me to strange places. And sometimes those dreams resulted in me sleepwalking in the middle of the night. I was never sure if I was just mentally ill or special, but whatever it was it didn’t care what kind of schedule I had.
After finally being graced with a phone to call my roommate, I was able to get a ride back to my living arrangement. Honestly, I was basically living off my roommate at the time, a girl named Liv who was a bit of a rock star living off her parents’ income. She had the occasional gig at some bars and weddings then spent the rest of her time playing video games like Call of Duty and World of Warcraft. But you can’t keep Liv from dreaming.
I, meanwhile, had found her on an ad left at the doorstep of my mother’s temporary house requesting a roommate when I was 16 years old. Basically, I paid monthly for a room in her apartment but could use the entire apartment except her room as my own. Sure, I sometimes was late on payments, but by now Liv was used to having me around and preferred me to some fool she didn’t know. This also wasn’t my first time being fired from my job, but I wasn’t too worried because I did happen to be decently good at charming people during interviews.
I didn’t have family nearby that I knew of. I had lost my mother to cancer years ago and she had left my father years and years before that. The only thing I was left with was his name, which my mother kept as mine: Monet. Elysia Monet. My mother kept her maiden name, which was Brooks. What impression I did have of my father wasn’t good because anytime I tried to speak of him, my mom would only say he was insane and she’d hoped I’d never meet him. That was enough warning for me to never try to find him. Now I was 19 years old, living in New Jersey, and struggling to not wake up in an airfield trying to locate some lost medallion of an ark or something.
Liv was planning to go to a gig once it got dark out, so I was looking forward to a night alone. We didn’t own any pets, even though we both loved animals, mostly because we couldn’t afford any at the time and they were a hassle to take care of. So I was in for a quiet night, perhaps reading books, watching programs, and skimming online ads for jobs that perhaps I’d have luck in not being fired from.

It was in the evening when I completed my daily routine and I was very tired and stressed out due to the day’s work. Resting on my bed, I brought out my phone and logged onto the Facebook. There were notifications and messages. I checked the messages first before the notifications.

Facebook was my only friend and companion, for I was always working round the clock and was always the only guy around. I’d been heartbroken recently by the girl I so much loved and cherished. I couldn’t believe that she cheated on me and even dared me to do my worst. That was how my 2-year-old relationship with Vinna came to an end. It was a bitter and sad experience which left me in a state of lacuna for a very long time. Since then, I never venture into any relationship again.

Back to the present, I opened my Facebook notifications and checked my comments on a group post. A female user by the name ‘Augustina’ had replied and I replied back. We soon got chatting and I asked her to add me up, she obliged without much ado and that was how our relationship started.

Three months into our relationship, Augustina started acting strange. I soon noticed it but whenever I asked her the reason behind her strange behaviour, she’d either give excuses or get mad or at times give me ‘cock and bull’ stories. Like a gentleman, I always let it slide without pushing it further.

It was a bright Monday morning when I logged into my Facebook account, only to find out that Augustina had blocked me. I was so flabbergasted and worried that I hurriedly logged out and called her. It rang without being picked up. I sent her an SMS only for Augustina to reply back that I should forget about her...

History was doctored for the victory wasn't hers. The tribes did kill their twins but not all approved of it.

Some damned the consequences and even dared the gods. They saved their twins in a way so legendary.

This story tells it all. Brace yourself for the truth you are about to learn.
