The League Management Company (LMC) has banned Kano Pillars skipper Rabiu Ali for 12 games after he attacked the referee following his team’s 1-1 draw with Enugu Rangers in the NPFL Championship Playoffs at Agege Stadium.

The 32-year-old attacker midfielder opens the score from the stunning free-kick but the Flying Antelope were awarded a controversial penalty in the dying moments of the contest and Godwin Aguda put it away.

Kano Pillars captain Ali openly confronted the referee even after his teammates tried to discourage Nigeria international before irate fans of the northern base side invaded the Soccer Temple pitch.

His club defended his action, arguing that he has been a disciplined player in his long and illustrious career.

Pillars have also been fined eight million Naira and will play three home games in the new season behind closed doors also sanctioned with suspended three points deduction.

The matches should be televised, teams with the most turnout may receive some financial incentives, some of our ex players or maybe celebs should be paid to tweet about some matches and hopefully attend. I woulda recommended demoting Kano Pillars to lower division and giving their fans 1 or 2 years ban plus the 8 Million

because that was how they grew English league to the level that we all can survive without watching them play. instead of complaining about the useless referees ruining African football, you suggesting we destroy a club that is providing jobs for a whole lot of people
