Shehu Sani, former Kaduna Central Senator, has faulted the Federal Government’s proposed establishment of Ruga settlements for herdsmen in some states of the federation.

He said establishing the settlement without ensuring ensuring a comprehensive inter-communal peace will lead to disaster.

Buhari government had disclosed that it was working towards establishing Ruga settlements for herdsmen in 12 pilot states nationwide.

Mohammadu Umar, the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, made this known in Abuja on Tuesday.
He said that the farm settlements, when fully established, would address incessant clashes between Fulani cattle rearers and farmers.

Reacting, Sani tweeted: “Establishing a ‘Rugan Fulani’ settlement in some states where spears and swords are flying over heads and without facilitating a comprehensive inter communal peace plan and MOU, will be a recipe for disaster.The architects of the idea are viewing the problem from their tinted windows.”

I am sure if Atiku had proposed it, most of those wailing will find reasons to accept it.

To curb herdsmen clashes with farmers, they need to settle in a place. So why are States and communities giving them leprosy treatment? Even if you rear the cattle up north you still need to keep them alive in the south till they are sold.

We remembered how we used to live as brothers as sisters in our darling nation with these same Fulani herdsmen.
The times we gave water and food to herdsmen journeying across the nation as they go on their business peacefully,
Just with their sticks and kettles for their prayers,
that was all before the evil and criminal minded politicians begun sponsoring some of them for evil because they want to remain in power forever.

Nigeria will be great again in our lifetime in Jesus name

Wow! In 12 different locations? Interesting

This means one of these settlements will eventually be sited in each geopolitical zone in the country including the south east and the alleged ‘south south’

Let’s watch and see which governors have decided to use their bare hands to check if a dangling wire is electrified or not.

We all know these settlements would eventually be created. Now it’s time to know where they will be located.

I’m sure many nairalanders will have one sited adjacent their villages but I pray it’s only the ‘sai baba’ supporting one’s. God let it be created exactly where their family and relatives are living and buried.

The solution to this issues is not far fetch yet they will result in circling without hitting the main issues, rearing of cows, goats etc na personal business who ever that has interest of cow rearing should locate an available land and establish his cattle ranch there, FG stand should be to arrest any one seen parading his cows or what across major streets

Southerners can rear cattle too, let us start rearing our cattle, boycott cow meat for now, this can solve the problem. Any state that give lands to these marauders are inviting the devil to bed. Don't let politicians ruin your collective safety, politicians no send you, they are hustling to succeed in their political hustle... Nigerians be wise, let everyone rear their cows in their own state, so we live in peace.

Why exactly is it hard to punish crime in Nigeria. It doesn't matter what your grievances are, if you kill someone, you should be arrested and prosecuted and if found guilty, executed according to the Nigerian law.
Over 1000 people have been killed in these clashes in just the last 1 year or so, yet not ONE conviction or execution.

Federal Government still playing the blind eye to the ongoing threat to and destruction of lives and properties in the country and seem to be tactically trying to spread this same threat to every state nationwide.

But if the rope is not stable, the bird on it either will not be at rest.
