CHAPTER THREE


"Louis, we have a huge problem" Charles said barging into his office.

"What problem Charles?" Louis asked sighing.

"The C.E.O of Dynamic co-operation called me a while ago" Charles said breathing heavily.


"What for?, I thought we were already done with their work?" Louis asked raising his brow.


"He is not impressed with our designs, he said he needs something different and new from what he has been seeing so far" Charles completed loosening his tie.


"What?, That can't be, no one has ever complained about our designs before because we give the best" he said greasing his face with a frown.


"The same thing i said, what are we going to do?"


"Is there a deadline for the job?" Louis asked standing up suddenly.


"Yea, he said two weeks most" Charles replied looking at him in surprise.


"Two weeks?, That is too small" Louis shouted.


"You should tell him that and not me" Charles shrugged.


"I will be right back Charles, i need to be somewhere right now, take care of things around here" Louis muttered dashing out of the office.





Nanya stood at her normal position at the new Haven junction popularly known as otigba junction because of the statue of a man playing drums that was situated there. She dropped her bedsheets on the pavement behind her and spread one out so that people would get a nice view of her handmade bedsheets, just then, a car came to a halt in front of her and she ran to bring more of her goods in case the driver wanted more than one. She looked on as a young man came down from the car and went straight to where she stood.


"Do you want to buy some bedsheets sir" that was the first thing she said.


"Good day, eeem, my name is Louis, Louis Walter, am an interior designer/decorator and am here to find out something from you" Louis said not sure of where to start from.


"Am Nanya, Nanya Obidinma, I won't have a problem answering your questions if you would at the end buy something from me" she giggled.


"That's not a problem at all, last week Monday, in the morning precisely, there was this beautiful bedsheet you held up when i drove past, I will like to know where you got it from, i like the design" Louis said looking at the heap of bedsheets behind her, he strained his eyes to know if he would see another design that would catch his attention.


"It will really be hard to answer that question because I have sold all the bedsheets of last week, these are new ones" she shrugged.


"Don't you buy them all from the same company?, I just want to know the company" Louis replied removing his eyes from the bedsheets on the pavement and starring deeply at her.


"Well, not really, I make some of them and add designs to it so that it will look more beautiful"


"You mean you make these bedsheets and design them as well?" Louis asked with his mouth open.


"Not all of them, but some of them, so i don't know if the one you saw was made by me or gotten from the market"


"Don't you have pictures of the ones you made?, I will recognize the bedsheet at a glance".


"Alright then, scroll down and check if it will be here" she gave him her phone and kept her gaze on the road.


"It's this one, look at it here" Louis screamed happily.

"Well i made that" Nanya smiled.


"How do you know about designs?" Louis asked.

"It's just simple, i started designing right from when i was a kid, i would cut my clothes and make something else out of them with just needles and thread" she smiled happily.


"You know what Nanya?, I need your help, but we can't just stand here and talk, come let's go somewhere convenient"


"Where?, I don't even know you" she muttered.

"Don't be scared, i won't kill you, i just want us to talk" Louis concluded raising his hands up in the air.

"Alright then, let me get my goods, and this time around, you are buying more than one bedsheet oooo" she warned dragging her ear to emphasize on her seriousness.


"That's not a problem at all, i will even buy all of them" Louis replied laughing.

CHAPTER FOUR


"How old are you Nanya?" Louis asked as soon as they settled back in the car.


"Am 24, and yea, thanks for the food" Nanya said yawning.


"That's nothing, you are welcome"


"Oh yeah, you said you need my help, what do i need to do for you?" Nanya said turning to face him.


"There is this work i got, I am supposed to redesign the interior of the company, but the C.E.O rejected the first one we did, he said he needs something different and new, and the deadline is in two weeks" Louis rolled his eyes.


"So how can i be of help?" Nanya asked still looking lost.

"What do you say about me offering you a job?, I need you to be my personal assistant, i want to keep you close to me" He said softly.


"Now am getting more confused, first of all, you have not even told me what i need to do for you concerning your work that got rejected, and now you are talking about offering me a job, you don't even know if am educated or not" Nanya answered breathing hard.


"You don't need to be educated before you become my assistant, the most important thing is that you know much about designs, your designs are natural and attracting, what is your highest qualification in education, like how far have you gone?" Louis asked suddenly.


"Just an ND holder, i couldn't go back for my HND after Dad died" she shrugged.


"Ouch, am sorry for that, what of your mom?"

"My mom?, She is eeer she is fine, so do you think am still qualified to work for you?" Nanya asked trying hard to put the discussion about her mother aside.


"You are resuming on Monday by 8:30 am, and we will leave for the company by 10 am or so, and please don't forget to come with your book, the one you sketch your designs in, I will need him to pick one himself" Louis said with seriousness etched on his face.


"Hahahaha, you sure have a way of making me laugh, okay then, i will resume on Monday, thanks for the job offer" Nanya replied laughing out loud.


"Yea, how much are your bedsheets?, I mean all of them, how many are they?" Louis asked.


"They are 22 in number, you can forget about buying any from me, you gave me food and you even offered me a job, am grateful for that"


"How much are they?"

"33, 850" she replied tiredly.


"Am buying all of them, but you will still get to keep it, you can be using them for me, i have enough bedsheet at home" he answered turning the ignition.


"Thanks, thanks" Nanya said smiling.








"Good morning Leo" Louis greeted as soon as they stepped in to his office.


"Oh, Louis, welcome, please have a seat" Leo said.

"Leo, this is Nanya, my personal assistant, she will be working with me from now on, Nanya, this is Leo, the owner of this huge company and the person we are working for" Louis introduced both of them.


"Good morning sir, nice to meet you" Nanya greeted with a smile.


"Good morning beautiful, Louis you never told me that you have such a beautiful woman as your personal assistant" Leo said smiling at Nanya.


"Oh common Leo, scratch that and let's move down to business, Nanya, show him the designs you came with and let him pick one" Louis said rolling his eyes at Leo.


"These are the designs sir, just pick one" Nanya said handing him the book.


"Okay, after going through the book, am picking this one, page 5 number 3" Leo said giving her back the book.


"Okay sir, but you have to extend the deadline, two weeks is small for this work" Nanya pleaded.


"It's okay beautiful, just take your time and please can you stop this sir of a thing, my name is Leonard, your boss is a good friend of mine and since you are his assistant, you are my friend too" leo said winking at her.


"Woman wrapper" Louis mouthed sneering at him and making sure that Nanya didn't hear him.


"No problem sir, thanks for your understanding" Nanya replied.


"We should be on our way, we will start the work by Thursday, have a nice day Leo" Louis replied giving him a handshake.
