Hello! Nairalanders, I'm in ineffable whitlow pain right now. It all started last week, when i tried to cut my finger nail and happen to force a nail stub out. That began this excruciating debacle i embroiled myself in. Though it wasn't intense at first, but it was exacerbated when i mistakenly rammed the same finger with car door.
Right now, I can't work or drive. Infact, I'm incapacitated. I've tried myriad of things like dipping my hand in hot salt water, taking painkillers(seem like I'm agitating the pain), putting my finger in lemon et al. The only thing that seem to mitigate the pain; is dipping my finger in very cold water like I'm doing right now. That means, I can't go anywhere without carrying ice block around.
Conversely, I tried to perforate the swelling, but there's nothing in it, and it seem to aggravate it.

Please, my people, proffer any remedy you know, and help a brother.

Yes something like that Licozen,it will relieve him within few days... Its like blue capsules..

Your best bet is always to see a Doctor. A Nurse gave me this tip some years ago; 1 boil water 2 add salt 3 dip that finger into the hot water a few times and you are good. CAVEAT EMPTOR; This is not medical advice and does not in any way pretend to be. PLEASE SEE A DOCTOR!

Hope it's not tablet or injection, because i have strong allergy for both. infact, general hospital is just a stone throw from my place but my phobia for hospital will not let me go there.
even the painkillers that were foisted on me, took me a gut wrenching bravery to take, and right now, I'm suffering serious constipation, irritation and hallucination.

I'm looking for a home remedy or a medicine to apply on the surface.

I totally agree. it was a waste of time, and extremely painful.

no home remedy that I know of. Buy the limcocyn or augumentin tab

Please is this whitlow and what is the most effective home remedy ?
I have tried warm water and salt and also candle wax but it still looks like this. Is it healing or getting worse ?
