Hi Nairalanders and Guests,has anyone travel to Nigeria on an expired Nigerian Passport?

My Nigerian International Passport expired over 6 months ago and I have an emergency travel to make to Naija from the US, but I'm wondering if I can travel with an expired passport along with my valid 10 years US passport.

I understand I can apply for a Nigerian Emergency Travel Documents but I'm constrained by time and work situation. Plus I live in West Coast part of the US with no Nigerian consular presence, I also understand that I'll pay $150 to obtain Emergency Travel Documents while Nigerian International Passport is just $106 at Embassy or Consulate. My flight is already booked and I hope to obtain new Nigerian International Passport in Nigeria during my stay.

Anyone with situation like mine and how did you go about it? Thanks.

You can travel down to Nigeria from the US with AN expired Nigerian Passport but be prepared to see a Nigerian Immigration Officer behind closed doors to do one or two things.. You get what I mean??

Lol!...you can travel and enter into Nigeria will an expired passport and do the needful with the immigration officers however, I don't think you can leave or travel out of Nigeria with an expired Nigeria passport.
