Am not sure but I know 18 is the usual age requirement. I know original waec certificate is required and he will be needing a letter of consent along side other documents

Self sponsor is not a problem, aside the funds in your account name sure your account reflects cash flow activity (inflow and out flows)

You should apply for visa appointment cos from the information in the previous thread it is difficult booking this appointment. And usually the documents sent to your mail should suffice.
