This is my Second thread after that pidgin Battle thread that Hit FP. Damn I loved that Thread but this night its not about Pidgin again. Today I'll be trying my Best to save my Maternal Tribe's language called Epie-Attisa. spoken Predominantly in Yenagoa the Capital city of Bayelsa State. And the Fourth major language in Bayelsa After Izon ,Nembe and Ogbia. Epie is an Delta Edoid language normally spoken by The Natives of Yenagoa who have a myth of Migrating from Benin. But that is Changing as most young folks from 30 to 1 year olds can't speak the Language because of the Nativization and Creolization of English and Pidgin especially in the Niger delta. So tonight I'll try my best to preserve this languages by storing its words and Sayings here on Nairaland plus Translations.

anoda problem I've noticed is the mentality of not only urhobo n isoko pepo, but all south southerners(save for akwaibom/crossriver pepo). Unlike the Yoruba n Igbo, the youths of the SS see their language as sumtin meant 4 d old n undope. It's normal to go a mall or youth party in lagos, ibadan, Akure n hear teens speaking yoruba or to a restaurant or club in enugu, onitsha, owerri n hear teens speaking igbo but u can't go to those places in warri, port harcourt, Benin n hear them speaking their language or even other tribes(yorubas, Igbos, etc) speaking their own language, it feels local to the SSners. Mentality problem, I use to feel that way too until i started travelling and saw that the major tribes didn't share this our menality

You are right,the problem is South South has several tribes and it's difficult to adopt a single language when we have about 80 different dialects.

Bendel for instance the only language of communication was pidgin and also most cities in South South (Edo/Delta n Rivers) are cosmopolitan.

They ancestors are mixed, Edo Immigrants coming into Ijaw land to mix with the native elements. Anyway the Origin of a lot of pure ijaw themselves point to Benin city as well as them having historical links with Oduduwa especially those of Western Izon stalk and even kalabari of Eastern Ijaw. Go study the history of Benin city it self and it's inhabitants from time imemomorial not Edo o! Benin City. And sorry for insulting you on my first reply. Ijaw history would however not be complete if you don't mention Benin city, Edo, Yoruba, Igbo, and of course it's neighbours Itshekiri and Urhobo.

For your info, the meaning of dialecte is language without a writen dictionnary, most nigérians don't know this. You all believe a dialecte is a sub language of an other language. There is no such thing as dialecte of igbo. There is igbo language and there is Enuani language and other languages. Keep repeating your lie and pray it becomes true. In reality you are only trying to force your identity upon others. Shame.
