Corruption has grown to be an Ideology in Nigeria.
Any revolution in Nigeria would create a new type of corrupt system.
Those craving for revolution are the unfavoured class, they are singing: " "Do something new in my life'
Those against revolution are the favoured, their song is simple: "It shall be permanent, what the lord has done for me, it shall be permanent*
Whereas, some of us are at the centre of the Spectrum, whether revolution or not, we just need our share of the large cake, whether revolution or reforms.
Why I now say , corruption is ideological is that the two cries or songs are products of interest

That's like saying that all young boys should be shot because an armed robber first starts off as young boy, grows into a man, takes up arms and starts robbing people.

Should we kill all young boys because of the possibility that some of them could be armed robbers in the future? No, that would be very stupid. That's how stupid your argument is

Freedom of expression and protest is enshrined in section 39 of the Nigerian constitution. The authorities are bound by law to allow people to freely protest. If the protest turns violent, then the authorities can move in and arrest the violent protesters. That is how civilised countries act

Don't bother arguing with a Yoloba Muslim over anything Buhari, they will defend him against their mother tongue

Freedom to protest is very essential in a democracy, without it, it is no longer democracy you are practicing

Remember the Igbos started a revolution unarmed and later started using heavy arms

This made the FG to proscribe them as a terorist Group.

So I dont think any govt will fold their arms and allow such revolution protest.

We dont want another Igbos uprising in Nigeria

You still dont get it. We are in a democracy. People should be allowed to say whatever they like. What matters is what people do. You cannot charge a person to court for 'talking'. If Sowore likes, he can protest that he wants Buhari to step down. If Sowore likes , he can protest that he wants Snow to fall in Lagos. The constitution has given him the right to protest for whatever reason. The constitution has also given him the right of free speech as long as what he says is not being used to commit crime. If the authorities have any evidence that Sowore wants to use the protest to fo something unlawful, then they should arrest and charge him to court

But if the authorities arrested him because he mentioned the word 'revolution' or that he said he wants 'bundle Buhari out of office' then this arresting a man for merely talking.

If governments start going after people for what they said, as opposed to what they do, then it is no longer democracy, it is dictatorship.

If you cannot understand all this and still insist that the government is right to go after Sowore because of the words he used then it means you dont understand democracy and how it works

What will it take to depoly soliders at ore ?

SHOWORE AND HIS FANTASIES

The man participated in the democratic process, contested presidential election and lost woefully. He tested his ability and he scored 33,953(0.1%) throughout Nigeria out of about 28million casted votes.

Four months after result was declared, he is calling for revolution. If he was declared winner, will he call for revolution or allow someone call for that?

The man that boasted of having large followers. How come majority of Nigerians dissapointed him on election day.

Hypocrisy and scamming combined.

FG must deal decisively with such infinitesimal trouble shooters. If he wants change, let him recontest again.

It can be hijacked by the enemies of the state, the revolts by the Free Syria Army (FSA) was hijacked by Al-qaeda, hence what we have in Syria today..

Exactly, you allow people to protest then if the protest turns violent, then you can call in the Army to restore law and order.

This has nothing to do with overthrowing government. When Sowore was calling for a revolution, he said he wants people to come out and join him in protest against the direction Nigeria is heading. He never said anything about taking up arms or being violent.

Arresting Sowore because he mentioned the word 'revolution' would be tantamount to arresting people simply for talking.

Only somebody armed can overthrow a government. So if Sowore and his group are not armed and only want to on a protest which they call 'revolution', then arresting him is only because he talked.

We are in a democracy where people have freedom of speech. The authorities should not be arresting people for merely talking. That is very bad and takes us back to the days of the military where saying the wrong words could land one in jail

Did the English word revolution has a different meaning to you or you just want to keep writing for writing sake? He should have used a different word other than revolution for crying out loud.

Revolution definition from 2 different dictionaries;

1. rev·o·lu·tion

a forcible overthrow of a government or social order, in favor of a new system.

synonyms: rebellion, revolt, insurrection, mutiny, uprising, riot, rioting, rising, insurgence, insurgency, coup, overthrow, seizure of power, regime change;

2. : a sudden, radical, or complete change
a fundamental change in political organization

especially : the overthrow or renunciation of one government or ruler and the substitution of another by the governed

While I am strongly in support of freedom of speech and association, I really don't think any government in the world wouldn't act on organizers of a protest which have been widely publicised as a "REVOLUTION" protest.

In my PERSONAL opinion, a better adjective or word should have been used for the so called protest.

Occupy Nigeria is a good example
The 2 face 1 million march which he later called off is another.

Whats your take?

This is coming on the heels of the purported arrest of Sowere.

arresting a protester based on the name he chose to call his or her protest is barbaric, they the government can't say they don't know what the protest is all about, they are just looking for a reason to limit freedom of speech from inception

No government will watch people have a revolution protest while it does nothing. Alot can happen during the protest. So governements will try to curtail or stop it.

But.. a serious protest will never stop. People who are committed to it will find ways to do it. No government can stop a serious protest. Example was Egypt that even in the face of serious killing, people didnt go. They sat in front of the government house until what they wanted happened.
