With the current state and dilemma the country finds herself in, if I were to be the president of theis country my first step will be general unification of all ethnic groups, I still stand to say that the problems we have now would have been averted if we were united as one nation, the Hausa's the Igbo's and the Yoruba's

1. Total unification: I will completely restructure all seat of powers to have all representatives of all ethnics therein, from the top officials to to the lowest, same goes to all public offices

2. Agriculture: I will invest in agriculture and station the northern areas as top priorities, the more agro stations are therein the more and less likely for youths to pick up arms against the government, when there is food there is peace, money is not the priority, hunger is, an hungry man is an angry man.

3. Security:i will implement the use of security agencies to quell the insurgency and this will be a very important step, but is in itself not sufficient to solve it, security for the masses means safety for all, the current government has abandoned the north and are not ready to provide security to many displaced citizens of her country, we do this, we are closer to ending this nightmare that plagues us this is because at the end of the day what we know is that this insurgency emanated from the community and it is the community that has both the responsibility but also and above all the capacity to end it.

I believe my small piece can help in sorting this current insurgency, although i know I will be contradicted but as the saying goes, there is never peace without sacrifices.

So many things have to be in place and to be Candid it will take a long time...
First we need to empower our soldiers, give them the right Morales (training, salary increase and swift response to their needs)
Lack of data base which could have been done along
with census so we can trace to some extent some culprits

Education with orientation is important , most of this suicide bombers are easily brainwashed to carry out these things..
Some needs psychological evaluation..

I believe a more educated and secure environment will be peaceful to some extent...

But them am just a small boy don't really know much

Humans are a difficult set to control and once agitations come up, it is difficult to bury them without proper conflict mediation practice.

Nigeria is faced with an increasing spate of insurgency and everyday, we hear one issue or the other relating to insurgency and killings.

As a president, in solving the problem of insurgency, the first step is identifying the problem. Why is insurgency present and on the rise? Secondly, who are those involved, how can they be reached? Thirdly, what can be done to bring the situation to the lowest or possibly, eliminated.

Humans are rational and for every insurgency, there is a causative factor, there is a reason for the agitations and if it is not well handled, things will keep getting worse.

I, as the president, in a bid to curb the religious form of insurgency involving Boko Haram, I will set up a religious council which will serve as a mediator between the government and the head of the sect. Since it is a Muslim sect, the council will be made up of Muslims who mean well for the country and who value human lives, to independently hold dialogue sessions with them and get to the root of their grievances. The result of their meetings will be worked on and resolutions reached on how to tackle the issues and maintaining territorial peace.

The Fulani Herdsmen should be disbanded and not allowed to carry arms. Where this is not feasible, then, a law should be passed for them to go into intensive rearing of their cows. By this, I mean that they should set up ranches for them in the North since they are mostly Northerners and have their cows feed and be taken care of from those ranches. Because of the spate of fear these Herdsmen have awoken with their present activities, this option will be best and as the president, I will assist with funds to set up major ranches in all Northern States, in all Local Government Areas. Therefore, any other person rearing cows in the name of a herdsman after the implementation of the ranch programme would be arrested and tagged a terrorist.

Biafra on the other hand has been calm to an extent and to make this calm become peaceful, I will provide a platform where people from that region will be recognised even in public offices and assure them that they are part of Nigeria. Concentrate on helping the region develop by focusing developmental projects in the region.

The Niger Delta region would be compensated for their land and I will continue with the cleansing of the lands which have been destroyed from oil and oil exploration activities and increase by some percentages, the amount that they receive from the oil revenue account.

Poverty would be tackled, industries would be built to invite foreign presence, provide jobs and create a level playing ground for everyone. Poverty and unemployment also lead to crime, revolt and insurgency.

Dialogue and improved welfare is much needed to kill the rising length of insurgency in this nation and it shouldn't be by force but by having the people in mind.

By insurgency, you mean Boko Haram and not the general insecurity of kidnapping. Here goes my own thoughts

1. I will relocate to Bornu state, this is the heart of Boko Haram, and set up a command and control center where I am.

2. I will review and change the messaging system or chain of command system within the military structure to counter information leaks.

3. I will employ latest military technology to include military drones, jamming devices, heat mapping devices to track movement of BH & ISWAP elements

4. The military will be reorganized in such a way that each ground battalion will have a corresponding air force strike team attached to them and they’ll be on the offensive, moving towards areas where BH/ ISWAP elements are known to have a stronghold

5. I will employ military intelligence to fish out major sponsors and have them assasinated

6. I will start social welfare programs to address issues of employment, illiteracy in the North.

7. I will have special forces to work with the CJTF on ground to fish out and neutralize BH hidden networks and collaborators. Cut off their supply networks for both cash and arms

8. Prioritize the remuneration of troops, allowances, bonus and rewards for excellence are paid promptly

With these strategies, I don’t think BH/ISWAP can last more than 6 months. I hope this write up gets to the President. Thanks

The unification of this country at this stage is impossible because the scourge of hatred for ourselves have gone beyond the ceiling. What we need to do as a nation is to get things right. What are we to get right?

The problem of insurgency is partly religious and partly ethnic. The root cause of these problems is hinged on a failed state, one having been ravaged by corruption and personal interests.

As the president of the nation, my first step towards tackling insurgency will be to call together all the groups involved and have a heart to heart discussion with them centred on their needs and demands. It is true that some demands may be outrageous but they can be attempted and the attempt will go a long way to show that the government is interested in making things right.

The nation is too large already and that is why Biafra is pressing on their own for their own country. As regards Biafra, they feel they are been marginalized. They have come out openly with their complaints against the nation. The solution here now will be to focus on developing the region, appoint people from the region to spearhead this developmental phase and this will give them a sense of belonging and a course to be happy over. The real reason for Biafra in the first place is because of the sufferings of people in that region caused by neglect and the vexation of the civil war they caused.

Furthermore, Boko Haram can be taken care of through dialogue. Call their heads, get to know them, get their demands and have them met to a reasonable extent. They say they do not want Western Education or Practices. But they could be educated on the need for education and also teach the harm of terrorism to pupils and students in the region.

For Herdsmen, they should be empowered to register their herdsmen activities as a business and funds giving to them to raise personalised farms to raise their cows and this will be in their region. This will stop them from roaming and causing havoc.

Generally, I will provide jobs through encouraging diversification of the economy, paying more attention to agriculture and agricultural products which was our mainstay before the discovery of oil and erect companies that will help engineer this process.

When the condition of living improves and people are meaningfully engaged and happy, little or nothing would be heard about insurgency or revolts.

1 . The politics and ethnicity card is what is fuelling insurgency. . .curtail them
2.Change the security chiefs to reflect federal character
3.Probe those in charge of ammunition
4.Expose the saboteurs in the forces feeding them information
5.Get more sophisticated weapons for the men of the forces
6.Involve state governors and decongestants the city Centre, move some institutions inside the state so that there will be access and more population where there are thick forests
7.Vigilante/forest guards/ should be in every state /local government to work with the police /army /civil defense
8 . dethrone any king/chief whose community is used to hide the criminals using Rivers state model
9.........Educate the herdsmen on modern ranching
10.etc.....

Democratically, the solutions to Nigeria's insurgency problem are:

1. Train military personnel in Search and Rescue operations, arm them and have them comb the troubled North East region where the dreaded Boko Haram activities are rampant. This is if dialogue fails.

2. Nomadic farming is a thing of old where people take their cattle from place to place. Farms should be built for those who are in it and they should be built in their region. This will also bring in foreign investment to the region. To also monitor compliance in case some herdsmen refuse to use the option provided by government, there should be heavy military presence in areas where herdsmen activities have been rampant and have them monitor their activities and search them to ensure they are not armed.

3. Provide funds to facilitate the development of the Eastern region and give them ministerial appointments. That will give them a sense of belonging.

4. Create jobs and engage youths meaningfully and that will force them to desist from insurgency.

5. Develop the economy using other revenue sources other than oil and increase the allowance accruable to people of the Niger Delta as well as help the region with regular land cleansing.

Now!
If I am currently the President of Nigeria, I would solve the problem of insurgency in Nigeria pro-actively by doing the following:
1. I and my team will embark on quality research about the causes of insurgency; analyse various ways of solving it and implement the best: Like the saying goes, "if you want anything done well, do it yourself". I don't need setting up committee for this because my cabinet will consist of technocrats. Thus we will brainstorm and critically understand the nature, causes and solutions of insurgency in Nigeria. Most of the problems of insurgency are directly related to every ministry in government. Therefore, all hands (including all citizens) must be on deck to solve this problem so Nigerians can sleep with two eyes closed and everyone can go about with daily activities without fear. The citizenry (who are mostly affected) will be encouraged to also make recommendations.

2. I will declare a state of emergency on the defense ministry: All leaders (public servants and political leaders) and armed forces will be subjected to to security and medical check in order to weed out intimate enemies (who are informants and spies to terrorist), unqualified soldiers and workers (who are unfit and do not possess the required qualifications), ghost workers, ghost soldiers and mentally disabled soldiers.
Also, a general toll free number like American "911" will be available and functional for the whole federation to report emergency and gather intelligence with a guarantee of anonymity to encouraged eye witness report and ensure prompt response on the part of all security and emergency agencies. Performing agents/teams and agencies will be rewarded and vice-versa.
Strategic locations, streets, borders, public places and landmarks must be secured with CCTV cameras; any suspect caught must be prosecuted.
Note: All emergency and security agents must be equipped with up-to-date necessary sophisticated weapons, technology, skills and knowledge.
All security agents and workers must work in unison and perform their duty diligently without fear or favour. Defaulters will be punished adequately.

3. An executive order against illegal migration to Nigeria and porous borders will be made: Any foreigner without the required legal documents will not only be repatriated but also given severe punishment (near capital punishment) which will serve as deterrence to others. All borders must be well secured to prevent illegal importation of contraband goods such as fire arms, weapons of mass destruction, etc, hence all defaulters must face the wrath of the law including recalcitrant security agents.

4. The educational sector will be revamped: this will be done to enable both rich and poor have access to quality primary, secondary and tertiary education. The state in this regard will be socially responsible for education of the populace; any ward roaming during school hours will be investigated and become government's property who will be trained and developed to contribute positively to the country in return.

5. Solving unemployment and poverty: the unemployed and people living in abject poverty are very vulnerable and are easy target for insurgent's recruits. Bright and patriotic graduates from our higher institutions and NYSC every year will be sent for training home and abroad, and mandated to utilise same for national development. Other graduates including indigents with interest in entrepreneurship will be provided with training hubs facilities and facilitators across the federation and given access to soft loans with low interest rate which should also be available to SMEs. Policies will also be made to encourage commercial banks, private individuals and private corporations align to this vision.

Other important things that I will do to solve the problems of insurgents are:
a) Reduce cost of governance so as to save funds which will be used to implement plans and policies
b) More security operatives will be deployed to vulnerable areas like sambisa forest and will be developed for tourist attraction after unrest to prevent reoccurrence.
c) Nigeria's foreign policy will be patterned into a win-win situation so that neighboring states and super powers will assist where necessary.
d) Every community must be involved, including traditional rulers, chiefs, youth leaders and local vigilante.
e) Amend the constitution so as to function effectively, efficiently and ensure easy and timely administration of justice.

I will draw a 3-year action plan that will be tagged UBUNTU (this will definitely cost a lot of money and efforts)

The primary focus of project UBUNTU will be "bringing government to the people".

Insurgency in Nigeria is different from insurgency in Middle East, and Western world. The primary cause in our case is poverty and unemployment.

Insurgency will cease to exist in Nigeria the very day you give the insurgents hope of quality life and livelihood.

Most insurgents in Nigeria choose insurgency because the government failed to provide an enabling environment for low income earner to sustain their livelihood. As insurgents, they get free feeding, no need to pay rents, no need to pay for transportation, free sex, free clothing e.t.c. That's why they care less about taking live of others. In their mind, it's the survival of the fittest.

UBUNTU federal project?.. Get words from the arrested insurgents, assure them of their life and grant them total amnesty. Repentant insurgents would undergo full rehabilitation and later be integrated back to the society.. Send most of them back to forest to spread the campaign in their various camps.

Most of the fighters with special skills for combat will be identified and trained.. They will surely be useful in Nigeria Army and other security agencies with no discrimination whatsoever together with the locals (civilian JTF) that helps in the fight against the terrorists.

Assure them (insurgents) that they will always be free citizen of this country. Encourage them to join politics, entertainment industry (movie, music, comedy), sport and every other professions.. Grant their children local scholarships within Nigeria and give them assurance of hope. Identify their skills and empower them. Mentor and monitor them in businesses and give them grants and soft loans.

With these, majority will embrace peace and will surely go against their commanders who may (or may not) peace. Many groups will be formed. They will have internal crises and at the end, I will surely get what I want.

For fairness, while doing this, a massive empowerment programmes should be held simultaneously in order parts of the country with funds almost the same as UBUNTU federal project.

Most of the criminals that engage in banditry and kidnapping will embrace peace if you show them love and grant them amnesty.

Now, the hideouts (the forests) should be identified and well mapped out. Most especially, sambisa forest should become a new city. A mega city with very tall structure and economic activities..

Killershot: I will make some of their commanders (insurgents) my senior special adviser (SSA) on Security and Counter insurgency

The same treatment about will be done for cultists, political thugs and other criminals.

Remember; the primary focus of project UBUNTU is bringing government to the people. Any individual or group with any agitation whatsoever should be free to bring it out and they shall all be given fair hearing.

This is highly controversial and people will surely call me mad but it will surely work like magic. If it didn't work in 2years, then we will switch to plan B (using full military force) to fight insurgency amd other crimes. However, If there is no headway in the 3rd year of my administration, I will honourably resign as the president so that someone else can clean the mess I made.. Lol

Edited @ davimus

The issue of insurgency has been on the rise. This short essay of mine on how this can be addressed is based on the premise that a country that fails to plan today spreads inviting hands to problems of tomorrow. The the solutions I have here are like seed that can be planted tomorrow to serve its planter's needs tomorrow when it grows. The effect may not be felt today but tomorrow as it seeks to uproot the issue of insurgency from the root.
For us to address the issue effectively, the chief cause of this must be established. To me, I will say that the chief cause of this is child labour. What then is child labour and how it contributes to the rise of insurgency?
A quick walk through our streets, market places, farmland and major highways will either make the eyes flow with tears or leave the mind with a long lasting thought that wears the soul off like Egyptian steel piercing the soul of its unfortunate victim. Can your manly gaze stand the gazes of these children whose only crime was that they were born into this world of pains and galls? The sight of these children are just like a medicine that sails down to the anatomy of its beholder and in its potency projects their sufferings to the view of all. A look into their eyes will show those piercing eyes that are replete with rejection, blurry and uncertain future, sense of no belonging, and most prominent and at the same time saddening, a feeling of society that does not care.
I'm afraid but most insurgents are products of child labour who have been forced to believe that life has no meaning. In them is a strong feeling of uncaring and failed society growing like a tree. They grow up with this feeling which has metamorphosed into an ideology. Most of these beasts tormenting us today(insurgents) were of our making. These children are pushed to the street to face the harsh reality of life. They do anything they see just to have something in the stomach. It follows to say that all these strip them off their innocence and in its place, adult's wickedness and evil needed to survive the harsh reality of life take over. Unfortunately, their naivety coupled with their minds that are not yet ripe to be exposed to the hard path of life and adulthood may not be able to restrain them from towing every path be it evil.
Child labour is harmful to any child, anywhere in the world! Its negative effects on the development of a child, are enormous. It affects the child mentally, physically, socially and morally. It's regretable. This menace just like harmattan wind is spreading like a wild pyre and if nothing is done to address it,we all will be consumed by this fire(we are already feeling its brunt). There is no better way of portraying how bad the situation is or derive home the importance of giving our full attention to this disease than to cull some statistics about this menace from United nations official website,www.un.org. From UN, we are made to know that worldwide 218 million children between 5 and 17 years are in employment.
Among them, 152 million are victims of child labour; almost half of them, 73 million, work in hazardous child labour. Though, this is a global issue, going by the statistics available,Africa seems to be in the centre of this and Nigeria seems to have the highest proportion of children in labour. I have identified three major causes of childlabour which to me is the chief factor fueling insurgency and the solutions too to the problem of insurgency.
Toping the list is poverty Most often, most parents will not want to see their children labour day and night so as to provide for the family.. That should naturally be the job of parents and such a role reversal is considered humiliating and even abominable. However, tough times do require tough measures. Nigeria is referred to as the poverty capital of the world according to World Poverty Clock compiled by Brookings Institute.87 Nigerians live below 1.90 dollar. Same Nigeria has 87 million people living in extreme poverty. What is more, extreme poverty in Nigeria is growing by six people every minute. This ugly trend seems to prevail in Africa as Africans account for about two-thirds of the world’s extreme poor and that If current trends persist, Africa will account for nine-tenths by 2030.

Fourteen out of 18 countries in the world—where the number of extreme poor is rising—are in Africa. All the above statistics were culled from Vanguard news on the 5th of June,2018.This only goes to show the connection between extreme poverty in Nigeria and the rising number of child Labourers. From the above, Nigeria statistically is the country that holds the highest number of people living in extreme poverty - and as a result, many Nigerian parents who face this harsh reality on a daily basis have been forced to enlist the help of their kids in the fight against starvation.. Rather than something borne out of wickedness, this is only a last-ditch effort to stave off hunger, and it is an effort that will continue being made irrespective of how much the society and the govt frown upon it.This is because in a situation where parents don't make enough money to even just keep their family alive, child labour is no longer just an option, it becomes a basic survival instinct. Overpopulation tends to go hand in hand with poverty especially in a society where there are no long-lasting plans to tackle the problems it comes with. the only way to fight child labour which has contributed to the rise of insurgency is to fight poverty. As pointed out earlier, most parents don't derive joy from sending their kids into the street but they still do so out of necessity ,so in a situation where the extreme poverty that necessitates child labour is alleviated, it is only logical that there will be a concurrent drop in child labour.. Poverty alleviation is so important. The poorer families get, the more the issue of child labour becomes more alarming! Rest assured, the changes this would bring, wouldn't just be felt immediately, but in the long run, it will yield it's positive multiplier effects. This is evident in countries such as China and India who have successfully lifted hundreds of millions out of extreme poverty over the past few decades and have consequently witnessed a drop in child labour. The common mistake Nigeria and Africa as a whole have been making is that their present governments and past ones are all stuck in the shallow idea that simply outlawing child labour will stop it.. But again, as I've pointed out, child labour in a place like Nigeria is a basic survival instinct and as such, it will be foolhardy for any govt to hope that only threat of arrest will somehow transcend the threat of hunger and possible death. Even on a moral level, not all parents who engage in child labour should be seen as people of questionable characters.. Afterall, Why should parents be criticised for sending their kids to hawk in the streets when failure to do so could mean certain starvation for those same kids?
We all can agree that alleviation of poverty is the easiest route to alleviating poverty which forces parents to push their children to the street to cater for themselves, not minding the evils their innocent minds may be exposed to. Effort should be made to see that parents do not bear a certain number of children they may not cater for. Emphasis should be on quality not quantity.
Another factor that causes childlabour which is the chief cause of insurgency is PARENTAL IGNORANCE /CULTURAL AND SOCIETAL VALUES AND CONSERVATIVE NATURE OF AFRICA PARENTS.
Poverty, ignorance and illiteracy are to society what atomic bomb is to human's existence. It's possible to lift someone out of poverty but if ignorance and illiteracy rule absolutely in his or her life, he or she is bound to sink back to his or her former position.
While highway robbery, cyber crime etc are new to Africans' ways of life, child labour has always been part of us. African society and culture have since time immemorial placed so much value on hard work and industriousness. People who are seen as weaklings are accorded with so much disrespect and at worst, ostracized. In the past(even now) children immediately they clocked 10 to 12 in most African societies, were initiated into "youth hood" and at this stage, they were expected to till and cultivate agricultural land. Those days, some of them at this stage were enlisted in the army to defend the territorial integrity of their village, kingdom or empire. Some of them would be taken to hunting expeditions by their parents where they were exposed to all sorts of dangers but these children dared not flop or forever be tagged weaklings.Though, few people might not relate to this but up till now this still prevails in most African societies. The famous work Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe illustrates this point using pre-colonial Igbo society and remember that a writer does not write just for the sake of writing but to mirror his or her society.
Most African parents up till today are still stuck in this shallow mentality that a child that runs away from labour exhibits signs of weakness. We have already established poverty as one of the chief causes of childlabour, but the truth is that some parents who are well to do still indulge their children in child labour. The pressing question now is why is it so? The answer to this is not far-reaching going by our discussion above. Many of them are still stuck in the mentality that cooked them to adults and see no reason why there should be changes in the status quo, thus; conservative and averse to the changing political, social, cultural and economic realities in their societies. These cultural and societal values have structured their views to see children who start early to hustle as the best way of preparing for the unncertainties of life. To them,It's important that these children are introduced to the hard ways of life at a very tender age to prepare them against the unexpected. To butress this point further, let's use Nsukka people in Enugu state as a case study here. In Nsukka, they believe in virtues of hard work and industriousness. To them, age is never a barrier. They met the belief passed to them by their fathers and to them, they must hold strongly to it and as well pass same to their children. This is so noticeable that at their various market places, seeing old people as old as 70+ is not an uncommon sight. Even old people like that who should be in their homes enjoying the comfort of their homes, are out there hustling, trying to tell them that their children whom they see to have fresh blood and lively energy and strength refraining from hawking on the street and the market is not a sign of weakness, indeed must be a herculean task. The point here is that if old people like that should still see virtue in toiling, their children should even see more reasons than they do!
How then do we solve this problem of parental ignorance/cultural and societal values and conservative nature of African parents ? Even though their views about children and the need to indulge in labour were and are still influenced by their societal and cultural orientation and values, what that is even fueling this the more is ignorance which has made them to be blind, conservative and averse to the changing political, cultural, social and economic realities in their our society. They should be educated and enlightened on the need to adapt to these changes as what makes us near perfect as humans is our ability to accept and adapt to changes especially when our old values have become moribund and repugnant. They should be made to know that atmosphere of their days has changed and trying to push their children into this malady because it was obtainable during their time will do them more harm than good. They should be educated to drop this their shallow mindset that has over the years become outdated and old-fashioned. They should be made to know that though back in their time, the society seemed to applaud such but of recent, there have been laws put in place that criminalize the action of pushing one's child into child labour. They should be educated to know that though they own the child but the interest of the state transcends every other consideration. Parents should be educated to know that their children have rights to survival and development,to private and family life,to dignity of the child,to leisure, recreation and cultural activities,to health and health services, to parental care, protection and maintenance,to free, compulsory and universal primary education, etc.

Finally, the last causal agent of this disease is that of RELIGIOUS FACTOR. There has been a ravaging disease especially in the northern part of Nigeria called Almajiri system. Almajiri system didn't start today, it has been in existence for a very long time ago. The record has it that some prominent ancient kings also sent their children to renowned scholars to learn the teachings of Islam. The intent that gave birth to Almajiri system was pure and worthwhile but over the years, the mode and operation of this have become impaired and flawed. Some have argued firmly that the thwarting of the real intent of this system was done by the ruling elite meant to use the naivety of these children to pursue their selfish goals. Some have argued that this stems from parental irresponsibility. Both arguments when subjected to a punctilious scrutiny carry weight but one thing which is clear is that these parents, though irresponsible, ignorantly believe that what they are doing is the will of Allah which is in line with the teachings of prophet Mohammed and by so doing, they are strengthening and upholding their faith. They ignorantly see this through religious lens. Wikipedia has this definition for Almajiri "Almajiri is a system of Islamic education practiced in northern Nigeria. Almajiri derives from an Arabic word, rendered "al-Muhajirun" in English transliteration, meaning a person who leaves his home in search of Islamic knowledge."
Almajiri has accounted for a good number of children in child labour. The number keeps increasing as the number of children being born keeps rising. These children that were meant to be under the tutelage of Islamic scholars in order to receive Islamic teachings are now pushed to the streets with bowls in hands to solicit arms from the passersby. These children are exposed to all sorts of evils and dangers ranging from sexual and physical assaults, extreme hunger, motor accidents to untimely deaths. These children have been dealt with emotionally, socially, morally and psychologically which have conditioned them to tow any part of survival be it evil. One way ticket to providing solution to this very cause of child labour is to review this system. The definition for Almajiri says it's a child who leaves his or her parents for Islamic knowledge but what we have today is a child that leaves his or her parents to the streets to hawk and beg. The intent of Almajiri is pure but the practices and operations are flawed. These children are meant to be in school to acquire Islamic teachings and knowledge and not on the streets. Coming to their parents, educative and enlightenment campaigns should be carried out for them. Though they try to give their action Islamic coloration, the truth is that this stems from ignorance arising from little or zero understanding of the real teachings of Islam. One would be wondering why Islamic parents from other places apart from the North do not indulge in this even when they hold one faith and that's where their ignorance comes into real view. Let them be educated to understand themselves and the faith they profess well. Effort should be made to encourage reduction of childbearing among them. They seem to bear more that they could ever dream of catering for only to dispose them to the streets hiding under the flowing garbs of religion even when it's clearly ignorance and irresponsibility.
Our government should provide basic needs of these children. There should be special funds allocated to them for their feedings and other needs while they seek Islamic knowledge in Islamic schools. Effort should be made to monitor how these funds are used by these their Islamic tutors. One would say that using public funds for this is wrong since it's a private issue and not a public concern but we should remember that if this is allowed to go on, the problems it will bear in future will be a national headache and everyone will bear the final brunt of it.Think of the present day BokoHaram, banditry, kidnapping, insurgenence, etc.

Moreover,Our govts should do the needful, which is the most appropriate by provision of accessible quality education. An adage, has it, that: education is the best bedrock upon which any qualitative society is built! So, Iet them concentrate more of their strength and the available resources at their disposal on this. The mind that is educated is the mind that is free. We do things that will benefit us today and tomorrow.

Inconclusion, most insurgents are products of child labour and child labour itself is bad because it exposes children to all sorts of evil, strip them off their innocence and coreces them to embrace devil's offer just to survive. Addressing the issue of child labour using the aforementioned solutions will go along way in putting an end to the issue of insurgency though, this may not be felt immediately, it will yield its postive multiplier effects tomorrow.

Don't really have much to say though.

* Nigeria's biggest problem is the compartment of different ethnic groups in such a way that when national patriotism is to be sought, many focus instead on their ethnic background because to them they are family, that's why public servants would rather give a job to their relatives rather than an outsider who merits it,

Thats why politicians will focus only on themselves and their families instead of placing value on the welfare of the entire federation.

Thats why buhari will declare ipob a terrorist group but cuddle the Fulani herdsmen,

But splitting the nation is no solution, what we need is tolerance, secession will lead to break down because we need each other.

The government must recognize the need to regard all cultures that make up Nigeria, tolerance is the word, igbos should tolerate Yoruba's,Moslems should tolerate Christians.

When this is in place a fair environment is laid down to foster education, agriculture and industrialization.

When the people's personality differences are well dealt with then it will be easier for them to work together and foster education and collective labour to develop the nations.

Strict laws on the culprits to deter others, if u are caught in that act of insurgency u get killed...
it shouldn't be ceremonial like what we have today, u start an insurgency group, the next thing is to go into negotiation and get settled by government definitely others will spring up. Recruit more soldiers to deal ruthlessly with any one found involving in insurgency...

My answer is short and direct..... Insurgency is a problem that can only be tackled from the grassroot, therefore to curb insurgency, we need to reinforce and empower the grassroot government(local government).

How would you have solved the problem of #insurgency in Nigeria if you were the #president.
As we all know, insurgency is rebellion or revolt. And why is there citizens and non citizens revolting?
If I were the president, I would study and understand, then appoint civilians and military personnel from that particular region and if possible from the area where the insurgency is emanating from. This is because these civilians would have a good knowledge of language and terrain of the volatile area. Apart from the above, insurgency can be countered through the following ways
1. The military: I as the president and head of the executive arm of government need to properly fund the procurement of sophisticated military wares ranging from assault riffles, greenades, rockets, fighter jets and helicopters. Then military welfare is also of paramount importance. No man goes to defend a nation in unhappiness and win. The military and paramilitary needs to be properly trained. I will hire war veterans from Israel and United States for such training. They will also be responsible to motivated our soldiers. This is because my soldiers emotional, psychological and physical balance is a major determinant for the President to conquer.
2. POLITICAL : As the President intend to run an inclusive system. I will approach the various Nigerian political parties for a dialogue. This is because insurgents capitalize on societal problems like poverty, religious intolerance, insecurities and tribalism as it is in the case of Nigeria.
So the political opposition need to sit down with me and deliberate on ideas of how to solve this societal problems so that the insurgents will no longer be able to exploit such. This is to ensure everyone is carried along.
3. Economic aspect: As the president, through my ministers i will design "people oriented empowerment programs" to keep alive or revive the economy in insurgency thorn areas by beefing up security in that territory. This will encourage the locals to feel secured, return to their areas, and to expose insurgents technicalities and whereabouts. Also when the general populace see that the economy of the country is booming, they automatically feel safe and secured.
4. Psychological attacks Warfare is beyond the use of gun and explosives. The insurgents need to be attacked and damaged psychologically. Although this maybe considered brutal according to the rules of engagement. When an insurgent is captured, he should be tortured till he gives up the location and coordinates of thier weaponry. The families of identified members should also be apprehended for questioning
5. Isolation: As the president I will suppress the insurgency by isolating the rebels from the rest of the population
6.The Major problem of insurgency in Nigeria today is our porous boards. Ecowas has not made it any easier for Nigeria too due to its traveling policies. In the Northeastern part of Nigeria which has witnessed the major bite of insurgency, Nigeria shares boarders with three different countries which are Chad, Cameroon and Niger. The United States President, Donald Trump, has decided to build a tall huge wall to protect the shared boundaries with Mexico. This wall will still be guarded by coast guards day and night.
I believe Nigeria as the most populous black nation can also protect its citizens and non citizens. As the President, I will erect such a wall along its porous board line. Also, as the President I will recruit more people who will serve as coast guards throughout the whole country.
7.Civil actions: As a President I understand that insurgencies are usually due to real grievances because a group of people rarely rises up without the fault of its leaders . Consequently, as the President, I would declare a state of emergency or proscribe any insurgent group. I would also have mercy towards the population that repent from insurgency. As the president I would advocate and exhibit good governance, to seek the people's heart, and love
to defeat insurgency.

This comprehensive civilian and military efforts will simultaneously defeat and contain insurgency and address its root cause which I have already established to be religious intolerance, insecurities and tribalism.

My proposed solutions will be
1. Retraining of all military and paramilitary personnel and equipping them with modern ammunitions and weaponry.
2. Stiff border surveillance and patrol to prevent further proliferation and smuggling of arms from other neighboring countries into Nigeria
3 Mass education , employment and entrepreneurship supports to all unemployed Nigerians
4. Placing a death sentence on any one guilty of terrorism by volition
5. Deradicalization of people coerce to join terrorism and placing them under surveillance for 5 years before releasing them back to the public.
6. Continue announcement on the dangers of joining or facilitating terrorism actions.

Well, I will sack all the then current security chiefs.

Send NIA on a secret mission to find out their sponsors and those connected to it. when the details are gotten and highly verified.

I will send snipers to eliminate all there sponsors, and those who have hands in it.

I will provide them with all the required high and update war equipments.

Give the new security chiefs a mandate to kill the Boko Haram members, chase them to anywhere and to bring their leaders head.

I will pick up the security chiefs who have embezzled security to fund to be hanged.

I will pickup the herdsmen leader and lock up. Ban open grazing. Ban firearms from being given to herdsmen. Any community that the herdsmen reside and kills any one. The security operatives will be under a strict other to seize their cows and openly hang them. And no grazing in such community. If the herdsmen, persist. I will relocate them to their state of origin. The owners of the cows which the herdsmen handle will be placed on death penalty if their workers jeopardize with any human life. Any their cows given to the state.

There will be emergency line to contact the security operatives if any herdsmen is seen in any state that is not allocated for it.

Death penalty for kidnappers, robbers and ritualist.

Most of the punishment will be based on executive orders and Attorney General directives.
