Lagos – Elder Simon Achuba, the embattled Deputy Governor of Kogi state has said he will not yield to calls by some people for him to resign his position, vowing to fight his case to the last.

The state’s House of Assembly on Wednesday began impeachment proceedings against Achuba, who has been at loggerheads with his boss, Governor Yahaya Bello.

21 out of the 25 lawmakers signed the petition against Achuba and described his offences as gross misconduct in office. The governor has however denied having a hand in the impeachment process.

Speaking with Daily Independent on whether he will resign to save him from the embarrassment from being impeached, Achuba, who insisted that he was being persecuted for demanding good governance said he will not resign.

He said the refusal by the state governor to pay him his salaries and entitlements was part of the plot to frustrate him into resigning even before he was served impeachment notice.

“ It is not true that I am contemplating resigning my position so as to avoid impeachment. I have not done anything that calls for my being impeached”.

“That is what they have been working on even before the impeachment notice was given. I am not resigning. I remain the deputy governor of the state” he said.

You are among the reason why we are here today. Had it been you stood for justice, transperancy and development in face of the idiot dirty lion's corruption and stubbornness, you wouldn't have been in this mess today.

Look at kogi state today, can you be proud of the state? I mean for a state so close to the nation's capital, look at what the leaders include you achuba have done, look at a state that shares boundary with more than ten states in Nigeria , look at what you and your boss, the baboon has reduced it to

Do you guys have conscience at all?? I mean what have you contributed to kogi state to be remembered for For bringing hunger to the land? For bringing killing, kidnappings , fear and hunger to the state??

For a state to boast of a river such as confluence , do you know what it means?
I mean have you ever for once adviced the dumb head about finding the solution to the unemployment in the state Do you know what people are saying about my state I mean, don't you see how other state or countries run their government?

Please tell me for your nearly 4years you have spent in government house, what is your contribution to humanity

Maybe I should remind you that you are so stupid and selfish that the only thing that caused this your woe is because of your salary. How sad! Not even for the welfare of kogite, but because your grandmaster of corruption is holding your money....this is where we find our self.

Whenever I read or hear anything from your government, it hurts..... It really hurts that I lost people that are so much closer to me, not to talk about the pain you guys made me went through.

Well, i, my family and my community await you November16.....

Oga weigh your options very well.
If you are holding the sharpen edge of the knife, pls resign.
I was thinking that by now you shld have instituted a case in the court asking for a stay of proceeding.
How i wish Dino was the deputy governor, it would have been very interesting to watch.
