I gave her some money for the weekend and we departed.

I kept seeing Bisola, just as we agreed and I had to do a lot not to arouse Yetunde's suspicion. sometimes on Saturday, I would lie that I wanted to go to the club. That one did not always work as she would declare her intention to follow me there. I had to devise the mean of leaving Abuja latest by mid-noon on Friday. Bisola and I would meet in my rendezvous and would be together for couple of hours before I would go home.

Two months after Yetunde and I became intimate, I came back home one cool Friday evening to get surprising news.

She had looked excited and I wondered what it was about.

'Guess what happened,' she prompted.

'I'm sorry, you know I'm not good in guessing,' I replied. 'Why don't you just tell me?'

'I'm eight-week pregnant,' she blurted out. 'I'm carrying your baby!'

'Really? That's great news!'

She gave a bear hug.

'It's good news,' I went further. 'What's the next step now?'

'What else? Marriage of course! There's no point in in wasting time again.'

She told her parents about the development while I told mine. Our parents swung into action immediately and fixed dates for the engagements
and wedding. Everything thing would take place within two months.

Next time I met Bisola in our meeting place, I made a lot of reservations.

'We can't continue to meet here again because the announcement of my wedding with Yetunde will soon be out. I can't take the risk of bringing
you here. Then, since I will soon be married to her, I think it is best to stop our affairs from now on.'

'If we can't be meeting here, there're other places where we can meet.'

'It's better we stop meeting altogether,' I said. 'Let's call it quits.'

'Finally, you're dumping me,' he said.

I shook my head. 'No. Finally, I've got to that junction where this has to stop. It's the reality before us. I still remember the promise I made the
other time, which is that I'm ready to compensate you.'

Bisola was silent. I could see that she was unwilling to let go, but she just had to live to that fact.

Reluctantly, she agreed that indeed we had had enough of each other and she should let go. I sent a generous sum of money into her account.
Our meetings ceased forthwith.

Two weeks to the day of engagement, I got a surprise call from Kike, who had not communicated with me for several weeks since the emergence of Yetunde.

'Kike, what a surprise call. How're you and how're your studies?'

'My studies are going on well.'

'Good. You just try to do your best.'

'Thank you. Mummy called to inform me that you will soon be having wedding with the senator's daughter.'

'Yes, it's true. We've picked dates for the engagement and the wedding.'

There was a brief silence across the line.

'I thought you love me,' she said.

I was surprised she said this.

'Yes, I did,' I replied. 'But events have overtaken that. You yourself acted in a way that made me seek love elsewhere.'

'It was because I wasn't so sure then. But now, I've got the confirmation. God has told me you're my husband.'

I chuckled. 'Really? Is it not late for that to happen, now, my dear Kike?'

'It's never late for God's words to come to pass.'

'Yes, I know, but on this matter, I think you're making a mistake. You allowed my parents to intimidate you when they asked you to back off.

'And your subsequent lack of interest made me to embrace Yetunde. Now, you're showing me that you're interested again, after we've fixed the wedding date. Can't you see that it's too late for you and me to be intimate again?'

Again, she was silent for some moments.

'It's never too late for the words of God to come to manifest,' she said again.

I was becoming exasperated over her rhetoric.

'Kike, thanks for calling,' I said. 'Thanks and goodnight.'

I cut the line. It was late for her to say what she said, wasn't it? Months ago, I was ready to stake everything for her. I was ready to defy my parents for her, but she faltered and cut short my love for her.

Now, she was talking about God saying I would be her husband. What a theory! And to think that she thought I would believe that!

Well, I wished her the best. She was young and pretty and I had no doubt she would not be short of a suitor.
Yetunde and I started making preparations for our engagement and wedding.

She bought clothes that the two of us would use for the engagement. She even specified how she wanted the dress to be sewn. She was not only buying things for us, she also went on a buying spree for the expected baby. She went to a mother-care shop to buy things that a new baby needed.

The pregnancy had not become obvious yet, apart from a slight bulge on her stomach, but I had no doubt that it would soon become noticeable.

'What do we call her?' she asked.

'Hey, you're jumping the gun,' I replied. 'You can't tell yet if the baby will be a girl.'

'But I can tell. I have no doubt in my mind that it's going to be a girl.'

There was no need to argue with her. As far as I was concerned, it did not matter whether the baby was a boy or girl.

My parents too were happy for me, and for Yetunde. I supposed they were also happy for themselves that they would be grandparents. We all looked forward to the engagement and wedding days.

I forgot all about Kike and her prophesy. If she thought she could some words to deter me from going ahead with my union with Yetunde, at this point, she was making a very big mistake. I had zeroed my mind on marrying the senator's daughter and no force on earth could stop that.

I was also relieved that ever since I paid Bisola to forget about me, she had stopped calling or disturbing me. For three weeks now, I had not heard or seen her. What a sweet relief!

Sometimes, I missed her unbridled love-making, but I was glad that I no longer had to worry about Yetunde finding out about her.

Two weeks to the engagement ceremony, I came back from my Abuja trip looking exhausted. I got to my flat about five o'clock.

Yetunde had earlier told me she might not come that Friday as she was a bit under the weather. I planned to visit her in her parents' house the following day, Saturday.

So, I had to take care of myself this Friday. I went to the kitchen to get a bottle of wine from the fridge. I would have to eat out later in the day. I was sipping the wine in the sitting-room when my phone rang. Surprisingly, it was Bisola calling.

'Hello, Bisola.'

'Hello, Henry. Are you back in Lagos?'

'Yes, any problem?'

'I have to see you.'

I was curious. 'See me for what?'

'It's very personal, but I have to see you.'

'But what is it about?' I insisted. 'Do you need more money?'

'It's not about money.'

'So, what is it about?'

'I will rather discuss it one on one with you. Can you arrange for how we can meet? The earlier, the better.'

My mind was busy. Just what was it that Bisola wanted to see me for that couldn't be said on the phone? Well, I shrugged. Then, when and where should I should as that we see?

I didn't want to meet her at the Lagos office as I didn't want to set tongue wagging over her. I also didn't want to meet her at any hidden place. Since Yetunde would not be coming to the house that day, why not ask Bisola to come over and give her just few minutes to discuss whatever she had in mind?

'Alright,' I said. 'I'm in my house, but I'll only give you few minutes to discuss whatever you have to say. Is that understood?'

I didn't want to meet her at the Lagos office as I didn't want to set tongue wagging over her. I also didn't want to meet her at any hidden place. 'Alright,' I said. 'I'm in my house, but I'll only give you few minutes to discuss whatever you have to say. Is that understood?'

'Yes. I clearly understand.' her tone now had tinges of excitement. 'Give me some minutes, and I'll be right over there.'

While I waited for Bisola to come, I wondered what was nagging at her mind. I shrugged. There was no problem without solution.

Twenty minutes later, Bisola breezed into my apartment.

'Hello.'

'Good evening,' I answered as I ushered her into the sitting-room.

I sat on the sofa opposite her.

'What could be so important and so personal that you could not even discuss with me on the telephone?' I asked.

She sat back on the chair, taking her time.

'What do you want to discuss with me?' I repeated.

'You did not even properly welcome me to your house.'

I grinned ruefully. 'I'm sorry about that. Do you want some wine?' I pointed at the bottle on the stool in my front. 'I can get you a glass cup.'

She nodded. 'That will be appreciated.'

I stood up and went to the kitchen. There, I picked a glass cup and rinsed it. Her purpose of coming couldn't be an exigent one, I reasoned, for her to want to take wine.

I returned to the sitting-room, filled the glass cup up and handed it to her.

'Thanks,' she muttered.

'You're welcome. She took her drinks slowly.

'Are you going to marry that lady?'

I was surprised that she was still in doubt. 'Yes,' I answered.

'Does that mean you never loved me?'

I sighed in exasperation. 'We've gone past this stage already,' I pointed out. 'Why're you going back to the past?'

'I'm now your past?'

I shook my head. 'Don't tell me your reason for seeing me is to ask all these questions.'

'No,' she replied. 'My reason for coming is not to ask any question. Rather, it is to tell you that I've realized I'm really in love with you and I missed you so much.'

I put the glass cup in my hand on the stool beside me.
'Are you saying that's really what you came to say?'

She nodded.

'For God's sake, Bisola, why can't you face the reality?'

'The reality is I'm in love,' she blurted out.

'No, that's not the reality. The reality is Yetunde and I will be getting married in about two weeks' time!'

'That's the reality from your own side,' Bisola said coolly. 'From my own perspective, the reality is I'm in love with you.'

I shook my head again. Honestly, Bisola was beginning to drive me crazy. If I had got the hint that this was what she was coming over to tell me, I wouldn't have asked her to come over.

She stood and came to sit by my side. 'Can you please show me love one more time?'

I moved away from her. 'Please try to understand the situation,' I said. 'In a matter of weeks, I'll be getting married. Not only that, the lady in question is already carrying my baby. The least I can do for now is to show commitment towards the relationship.'

'What about me?' she cried. 'What about my feelings?'
I shook my head again. Honestly, I was short of what to say. She came to me and held my hands.

'Is it to much that I ask that you show me love just one more time?'

Her hands rubbed on my chest. I should have asked her to stop. I should have told her I was sorry but could not be part of the salacious intimacy again.

Unfortunately, I could not.

'I'm not stopping your marriage,' she said. 'All I want is just a little bit of love from you.'

Her hands slipped under my t-shirt and went up to my bare chest. She cuddled the place, smiling.

'Before I go any further, we must have a deal,' I muttered.

'What deal?'

'The deal is this: this will be the last time you and I will ever have this kind of intimacy.'

She smiled triumphantly.

'Deal.'

'I'm serious about it,' I said.

Her smile became expansive. 'I know.'

'I must get a promise from you that I will not be bothered from you again.'

She playfully pinched my nipples, the smile still on her face. 'Deal.'

I wanted to say more, but her right hand moved from the chest to inside the boxer I was wearing and she tenderly held my joystick. Deftly, her hand moved over it as she caressed the organ. In response, the part wasted no time in becoming fully erect. I removed her top and unhooked her bra.

Her jaunty boobs sprang to life as I sucked her nipples. I could see eagerness and anticipation in her mood. She quickly removed her clothing, just as I did the same to mine. In every sense, she appeared like someone that was sex-starved and needed a life-line. Right there in the sitting-room, we did things to satisfy each other's lusts.

And we were so engrossed in fulfilling our quest that we didn't know when the door was opened and an intruder came in.

'What ...!' I heard faintly. Then something thudded on the tiled floor. I glanced at the sight and saw a lady lying on the floor.
