President Muhammadu Buhari has condoled with family, friends, relations, as well as the diplomatic community over the passing of Dr Biodun Nathaniel Olorunfemi, former Ambassador to Namibia.

A statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, in Abuja on Monday, Buhari described the demise of “the re-engineering technocrat” as a great loss to Nigeria.

He noted that the late Olorunfemi had the unique record of successfully turning around many parastatals and businesses that were hitherto underperforming.

The President recalled that Olorunfemi, as Permanent Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory, assembled technocrats to develop a blueprint for the effective administration of the FCT as a Mega City.

He added that the deceased was also credited as one of the brains behind the development of the solid minerals sector in the country.

The late Olorunfemi had served as Ambassador to Namibia from 2012 to 2015, and the President remarked that “he left his footprints in the sands of time.”

don't mind the useless man. I'm not worried though because he is old and will die soon. his health is already deteriorating.

It is really sad, the rate at which former ambassadors and diplomats are dying in this country, once they return from their duty post. That was how Ambassador Ashiru, one of the finest diplomats and foreign ministers we ever had, passed away suddenly a few years back. shocked

In January this year, Nigeria's Ambassador to Cote d'Ivoire, Ibrahim Isah also died at the age of 59 years. Former Nigerian Ambassador to the United States, Joe Iyalla also died in the same month of January this year. But he was 90 years old, sha. sad

The others were not so lucky to live to a ripe old age. Adebowale Adefuye, Ambassador of Nigeria to the United States, died in Washington, D.C. on August 27, 2015, of a heart attack at the age of 68.

Professor Oludare Agbi, Nigeria's former Ambassador to Greece and Australia, also died last year. Abdullahi Wase, Nigeria’s ambassador to Qatar also passed away last year.

The death of the Nigerian ambassador to Sao Tome and Principe, Queen Imaria Worlu at the age of 58, has been described in many quarters as unfortunate. It took place last year. It is really disturbing.

As if that was not enough, Ambassador Saleh Manu Pisagih, a retired career Ambassador, whose death occurred on Wednesday 16th April, 2019 after a brief illness, left this earth at the age of 64. sad

Is it the stress in Nigeria that killed them, or the fact that our hospitals could not provide them with adequate treatment to take care of their medial conditions? shocked cry The list of retired ambassadors that are dying, is really long. And it is very sad. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs should continue to provide them with adequate medical care, not just at their duty post but also on retirement....

Good career diplomats are so hard to train and much harder to find.

My dear brother in law, Dr Biodun Nathaniel Olorunfemi, I give glory to God for the life you lived. Sir, yours was a life of service, work, work, and work. You never encourage laziness and idleness.

I cannot begin to recount your good works, your benevolence, the number of people, including myself, that you brought into the Service of the Federal Government.

From University of Portharcourt to Raw Materials Development Council, to Fed Min Of Solid Minerals, Min of Women Affairs, Defence, and as Perm Sec of Min Of Environment, and finally FCT.

Appointed later by Jonathan as Ambassador to Namibia.

You were such a good man who's always willing to share. Words cannot describe how much you've lifted up people around you, a blessing to those that came your way.

It's my prayer that God in His infinite mercy grant you eternal rest at the bosom of your creator and grant your wife and your children the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Good night my boss and my dearest brother in law.

This is really a bad news that will be too difficult to bear but who are we to question the Omniscient God. Your sudden demise is reminding me of the good times we had together in Port Harcourt in the 80s. May the merciful Jehovah -God grant your soul eternity in heaven.
