Bayern Munich have agreed to sign attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona on season-long loan deal with an option to buy.

The German champions said the 27-year-old Brazilian is expected to complete the move in the coming days.

Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: "The name doesn't matter, only the quality."

The club are also set to sign 19-year-old midfielder Mickael Cuisance from Borussia Monchengladbach.

Coutinho, who was in the crowd for Barcelona's La Liga defeat against Athletic Bilbao on Friday, joined from Liverpool in a £142m deal in January 2018.

Despite scoring 21 goals in 76 appearances for the Spanish giants, he has fallen short of expectations and had been linked with several clubs this summer.

It is believed he was included as part of a bid by Barcelona to re-sign Neymar from Paris St-Germain,, the Spanish club reportedly willing to offer 100m euros (£92.4m) plus Coutinho for the forward.

Tottenham ended their interest in a loan deal for Coutinho earlier this month, while he was also linked with moves to Arsenal and back to Liverpool.

But sometimes, it becomes an albatross when it puts too much pressure on you and you crack under the pressure.

I hope coutinho gets his rhythm back. His lackluster show at Barcelona (who also, have nothing to show for all their big money players) seem to have affected his confidence.

I just hope he picks it up again and fits into place.

Niko Kovac is just a technical dunce like his Barcelona counterpart.

In my own opinion, Barca are not fair with this guy. He hasn't been played in his favorite position for them to say he's not consistent or good enough. Play him in his best position and if he doesn't deliver then sell him. Everybody can't be Jack of all trades, master of each like messi

Hope he gets his career back on track. Sometimes you and a specific company, club, location, partner etc etc can be a perfect match or a not so perfect match due to so many factors.

But I think Barca pressure is the main reason Coutinho did not deliver

Barca has a poor team. Just look at how they lost to Bilbao with that performance, they going nowhere.

We presently have an apprentice Coach at Bayern. I doubt if Nico Kovac has the ability to select a squad that'll include Coutinho, Gnabry, Coman, Lewandowski and manage a good formation.
