Blabbermouth, why not create a thread and invite people to comment on it? Rather than hijacking a thread for unbelievers for your proselytism.

I apologize first to the author since it seems this page has been hijacked and I appreciate the telling of a transition in her life. I disagree with the move, and believe wholeheartedly that atheism holds many more facets of wonder, kinship and truth than does Christianity but to each their own.

I also agree with whatever may give hope to a person in their life or what may allow them to become a good person in action. If, however, the belief change also brought with it attempts to establish religion as a foundation for secular things such as laws or medical practices, I would not agree with the transition.

That said. God, for the atheist and the theist, must not exist. The universe contains all things that exist. The universe is made up of time and space. God is outside of time and space. Therefore God is not contained by the universe and thus does not exist.

For the theist this is how God knows all, is an objective morale character, etc. For the atheist this is why we have no proof of such an entity. If the theist wants to argue that God is contained within the universe than that theist must allow that God is not all knowing, all powerful or ever present. Without these features God cannot be absolute truth or good, merely superior in truth knowledge or goodness. If the theist wishes to believe in a non-existent deity they may certainly do so, but they cannot argue from a stance of understanding that deity nor knowing it’s will.

Any person who attempts to argue based upon knowledge of God is indicating that God can be contained within the universe, since the idea of and actions from said God would then be contained in the universe. That leads back to the problem of a God that exists, and anything that exists is testable, imperfect and unable to know all, be all, and everywhere. Which means again that the Christian God is not the God of the bible.

There are many more arguments that could happen here but the fact is, either God is unknowable and possibly the Christian God as described in the bible (but you wouldn’t know it exists). It doesn’t exist. Or it exists as a superior entity that has essentially made up or has had people make up a text that describes it as better, bigger, more than it is at which point the belief is in something that exists but again, not in the way any Christian specifically believes.

The bible then becomes a work by people. Even the bible itself is only indicated to be inspired by God. Inspiration has a root of given life, such as Adam was inspired when God breathed life into him, or man when Zeus had cupid do the same thing over a thousand years before. This is inherently an idea of starting something and then letting it run. So, in context of a book, it would be something like God gave the urge to write and some people did. But that doesn’t mean or indicate it was gods word itself but instead how people interpreted this universe (god’s will). Since again that will cannot be known, it means the bible is inherently not absolute truth by design, though some aspects may be by happenstance, we cannot test it since the God it speaks of cannot exist.

This is based upon an understanding of existence that spans all human thought across all cultures. There are no exceptions. Some attempt to get around the idea of all things exist in a multi-verse bit really they are saying that there are multiple subsections that obey different rules though all of those would classically be under the one term of universe. And it seems like a bit of an easy way out at this point to make some scientific theories make sense before we have the tools to detect something else that works better. I digress.

I doubt this argument works for all deities because most of then are just superior people (Greek, Japanese, Roman, most older tribal groups, Hinduism, Buddhism, babylonian etc) and do not run into the problem of being unobtainable within the universe. It certainly applies to the Christian God and makes arrogant prideful people of those who claim to understand, know, or speak on behalf of their unknowable God.

Ye speak blasphemy of what ye knowest not. If by chance, this God doesn't exist, then what should be for the universe, NOTHINGNESS
Humans would rather dwell in the point in which they find comforting, whether it be safe or not.
Dark-matter, Black holes, witchcraft and all, what form of logic holds them true. In as much as this "Logic" of a thing couldn't account for all these stuffs that evidently exist and operates, shouldn't Logic itself be questioned
And one said, "If this God isn't bound by space and time, it consequently doesn't exist in the universe". We should also say unto thee " If God is bound by space and time, then there should exist also NOTHINGNESS for the universe ". They took from their two-edged sword , the part that seemed blunt and wouldn't cut through them.
Under close scrutiny, their logic crumbled like an ice castle by the dawn of the day.
The devil dwelleth among thee, it feedeth from your ignorance and lack of understanding.
@JeromeBlack, I don't know why...My heart is so drawn to you. Your logic taught u how 'God doesn't exist" but didn't enlighten you How the Universe itself could be substantial without the "God" factor.
Can you see, the brainwashing. Simple logic would claim Dark-matter is impossible, if it hasn't been evident. Logic would have said "Black hole" is only a fiction and fairy tale for the kids if it hadn't been evident.
Assuming, a black hole or a dark matter meant mass destruction and I warned you against it, after u would have laughed and said "My logic doesn't support your shiit" and it became evident like it is presently, what would become of u

Anybody else watching/watched Legion? I haven't seen psychology so well adapted to the screen.

Ask yourself, what's more frightening, fear or the frightened?

Gods make rules, they don't follow them.

Which psychology?

The best description for Legion is "a visual representation of an acid trip".

I love the show though. It is literally mind-bending. I give hand to the creators and writers of the show.

I love it too and it's a shame it's so short. The writers did an awesome job but I feel they rushed the finale. The shadow king's change of heart was so sudden literally out of the blue (pun intended).

Amal Farouk. Bad guy cool

It was not so sudden. When Amal Farouk joined the organisation against David, he started to talk more to David whenever they met. He never really fought him.

Ah but that epic battle on in the desert was not a joke. Besides it was the past Amahl Farouk whose sudden change that made it look kinda rushed.

Law of conservation of Matter x Energy
"Matter (and Energy) can neither be created nor destroyed, but can only be transformed or changed from from one form to another"
The fundamental law of science.
This begs the question "What (or who) created matter then?"
Reasonable Answer plss.....

Yep
No, I do not think triage is immoral. I'd say its wise to triage. If the heart were failing, it would be pointless putting a plaster on a sore thumb first.

Triage, is the putting out the fire burning oneself before attempting to put out that which burns one's child, or putting on one's own gas mask on a decompressing plane before assisting others. I doubt I need say why.

Thanks buda, for teaching us to teach. Love to read your contributions even if I don't always agree with them. It feels there are parts of my life I'm not yet willing to shine light on.

Hope I find the strength to do so. Becoming a new creature is a process of death, then rebirth. Then growth through pain. It seems life is the journey through these experiences.

@HappyPagan,

Practioners of Thelema, refer to the constant cycle of birth, death, rebirth as IAO!!!

I=ISIS(Mother goddess, representing birth)

A=APOPHIS(Greek name for Set, the serpent who brings death and destruction)

O=OSIRIS(the pre-christian, proto egyptian redeemer who died and came back to life in a new form)
