nah! you are not up to date in terms of best universities and educational performance in the states. ehm, I used to hear about this thunderous number of professors in the South West until I went there myself. mehn the professors your have there cannot compete with ordinary PGD Student talk more of PHD. most of them are of very low calibre educationally. I supervised waec and neco exams and couldn't but wow at the rate of exam malpractices. so please please spare us the professors bulcrap. the quality of education there is at low low elb and thats to tell you the quality of professors you r breeding up there.

Despite the gap the south west gap the south east pre independence in terms of education, despite the set back the south east also experienced as a result of the civil war, yet the south east has experience significant improvement so much that they now compare themselves with people who didn't have any of these set backs.
